A handle with an adjusting device (6) for adjustment of the length of a racquet, especially a tennis racquet, having a grip sleeve (9) of hard elastically springy material, which is fitted to be able to shift along the shank (3) connected to the face (1) of the racquet and which exhibits, running in the longitudinal direction, projections standing up inwards to rest against the shank (3), characterized in that the grip sleeve (9) is composed of at least two sleeve parts (7, 8; 37, 38; 39, 40) fixed in position against one another, that the edges of projections which lie opposite one another, in resting against the shank (3) exhibit a shorter distance apart than corresponds with the thickness of the shank (3) at the associated points of contact, so that with deformation of sleeve parts (7, 8; 37, 38; 39, 40) the projections (33, 33'; 133, 133', 133") in the slipped-on state of the grip sleeve (9) rest springily against the shank (3), or that projections on the sleeve parts (7, 8; 37, 38; 39, 40) are themselves made as springily deflectable means (33, 33'; 133', 44, 48).
