Abstract
Un conjunto de material compuesto, que comprende: a) una capa estructural que comprende al menos una fibra de refuerzo y al menos una resina de matriz polimérica termoestable, b) una capa de mejora de la superficie que comprende fibras segmentadas individuales, que tienen una relación de aspecto entre longitud y anchura de más de 5:1 para formar una película o velo, de manera que la segmentación significa el corte longitudinal de la fibra a lo largo de su longitud en un número de capas o placas discretas, estando dicha capa de mejora de la superficie en uso en contacto con una superficie de moldeo.

La Tabla muestra que aunque el velo de fibra segmentada de la invención tiene un pero por área comparable a H3115, sólo tiene la mitad de la abertura, que se traduce en un 75 % de reducción de la rugosidad de la superficie
10 del laminado.
La rugosidad de la superficie del laminado curado del ejemplo 1 se calculó realizando un recuento de poros. La rugosidad se determinó en 0,83 Ra [mm].
15 Comparaciones del acabado superficial
Otra evidencia de la contribución realizada por el velo de la invención y el vellón para mejorar el acabado superficial se muestra comparando las mediciones de poros en conjuntos compuestos curados realizados sin velo o vellón (referencia muestra 1) con vellón, peso sin velo (referencia muestra 2), con velo, pero sin vellón y con velo y vellón.
20 Conjuntos inventivos basados en las figuras 2, 3 y 4 sustancialmente como se han descrito anteriormente se han utilizado para esta comparación con el vellón y tiras de resina retiradas en dos de los cinco ejemplos. La muestra de referencia era M9.6F/38%/LBB1200G.
Un molde compuesto fue tratado con agente de liberación Zyvax Enviroshield, una técnica bien conocida en la
25 técnica. Para el material de referencia, se colocaron 3 pliegues de prepreg en el molde. Para los conjuntos compuestos de la invención, la capa de mejora de la superficie estaba siempre en contacto directo con el molde. Se aplicó a capa estructural que comprende las sub-capas como se describe en los Ejemplos. En dos de los ensayos, no existía ningún vellón ni componente de tiras de resina. La sub-capa 3 comprendía siempre dos pliegues de prepreg M9.6F/38%/ LBB1200G.
30 Los conjuntos fueron endurecidos en bolsa de vacío como se describe con referencia a la figura 2.
La muestra endurecida fue desmoldeada y limpiada con una suspensión de negro de carbón en acetona. El exceso de suspensión fue lavado con más acetona. La muestra fue observada entonces bajo un sistema de microscopio
35 digital Keyence VHX utilizando una ampliación de 25x y un ajuste de ganancia de 9,00. La imagen observada fue manipulada entonces utilizando un software de sistema, de tal manera que la corredera de histograma se ajustó entre 000 y 065, la tolerancia de brillo se ajustó a 20 y el filtro de ruido de ajustó a 10 con el fin de identificar los defectos superficiales (o poros). El software se utiliza entonces para analizar la imagen observada, que tiene un área de 132,63mm2 para medir la fracción de esta área identificada como poros y el área media de los poros observados.
40 Con referencia a la figura 5, se muestra un grafo del área media de poros con respecto al porcentaje de área de poros. Esto se utiliza para caracterizar gráficamente el acabado de la superficie de los materiales compuestos de la invención y ejemplos comparativos. La dirección hacia la parte inferior izquierda del área del grafo es la dirección de mejora en el acabado superficial.
