Abstract

An outer reamer (scraper) has a cutting head 11 with two teeth 15, 16, which are axially parallel, projecting from a base 12. A cutting disc 28 is fastened to one of the teeth 15, the cutting edges 32 of the disc facing radially forwards in order to machine, by means of a shaving-starting operation, a cylindrical outer face of a workpiece. The other tooth 16 has a guide baton 45 secured removably to it by means of a tightening screw 57 in such a manner that its guide surface 48 is diametrically opposed to the cutting edge on the outer face of the workpiece and stabilizes the machining by means of a shaving-starting operation. Preferably, the guide baton 45 is finely adjustable by means of a pressure screw 63 in the radial direction. The advantage of the guide baton 45 being removable is that the guide surface 48 may be manufactured separately from the cutting head 11 with the desired shape, without difficulty. In the same way, provision may also be made for multiple, distributed guide batons of the same type. <IMAGE>
