Abstract

Process for the recycling of sludge residues and sludges originating from the regeneration of glycol. The process comprises a first stage of saponification of the sludge residues and sludges from the regeneration of glycol using an alkaline solution, then continuing to a filtration stage and subsequently to a stage of neutralization with acid, after which there follows a filtering and washing stage, yielding terephthalic acid which is subjected to a drying stage, after which this passes to the final stage of comminution and containment for consumption in the manufacture of polyethylene terephthalate or for use as terephthalic acid. Applicable to the recycling of wastes from the regeneration of glycol in the manufacture of polyester, avoiding discharges.
