Abstract

A liquid accommodating container is connected to an ink jet head and accommodates a liquid supplied to said ink jet head. The container comprises: a partition (215) for dividing said liquid accommodating container into having a first chamber (203) and a second chamber (204), wherein said first chamber (203) is accommodated with a negative pressure generating member (205) and has a supply portion (209) for supplying the liquid to said head and an atmosphere communicating section (206, 208) communicated with an atmospheric air, said second chamber (204) is communicated with said first chamber (203) through said atmosphere communicating section (206, 208) and substantially sealed except said atmosphere communicating section (206, 208), said second chamber (204) accommodating the liquid to be supplied to said first chamber (203), and an area between said supply portion (209) of said first chamber (203) and said atmosphere communicating section (206, 208) having a liquid supply promoting arrangement (217) for promoting the liquid to move.
