Abstract
Un método para tratar la superficie de una lente de contacto de hidrogel de silicona mediante una fabricación controlada incluyendo los pasos siguientes: (a) tratar con plasma la lente con una atmósfera conteniendo oxígeno durante más de 4 minutos por lado, a un vatiaje de 100 a 1000 vatios y una presión de 0,1 a 1,0 Torr (13,3 a 133 N/m2), para producir un recubrimiento conteniendo silicato, (b) hidratar la lente sumergiendo la lente en una solución acuosa, por lo que la cantidad de agua absorbida por la lente es al menos cinco por ciento en peso del material de lente, (c) someter la lente hidratada a esterilización por calor, por lo que la lente esterilizada por calor tiene un recubrimiento conteniendo silicato caracterizado por una configuración de mosaico de placas sobresalientes rodeadas por fisuras en retroceso al ver una imagen de Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) de 50x50 micras (m) cuadradas, donde la profundidad de las fisuras es como media entre aproximadamente 100 y 500 angströms (10 y 50 nm) y la cobertura de placa es como media entre 40 y 99 por ciento.
