LAS CELULAS SON DERIVADAS DE TEJIDOS HUMANOS O ANIMALES TUMOROSOS O NO, QUE INCLUYEN OVARIOS, ENDOMETRIO, TROFOBLASTOS, PITUITARIA, TIROIDES Y PANCREAS. LAS CELULAS SECRETAN EN EL MEDIO CULTIVO HORMONAS TALES COMO EXTROGENOS, PROGESTINAS, HORMONA ESTIMULANTE FOLICULAR, TIROXINA, GLUCAGON, E INSULINA, DEPENDIENDO DEL ORIGEN DEL TEJIDO DE LOS CULTIVOS DE CELULAS INDIVIDUALES. EL CONTACTO CON UN SECRETOR APROPIADO PROVOCA QUE LAS CELULAS RESPONDAN CON UNA SECRECION DE HORMONAS MAYOR. POR EJEMPLO, CELULAS DE FOLICULO DE OVARIO RESPONDEN A LA HORMONA ESTIMULANTE DE FOLICULO CON UNA SECRECION AUMENTADA DE EXTROGENO Y PROGESTERONA.
