Abstract
El electrodo de autococión adecuado para usarse en horno por arco eléctrico comprende una envuelta alargada eléctricamente conductora de extremo abierto para extenderse, generalmente en vertical, dentro del horno. Un núcleo central fabricado en material térmicamente conductor se dispone dentro de la envuelta y separado de la misma. En su interior un bastidor se fija al núcleo central de una superficie interior de la carcasa para contener en la parte central el núcleo central dentro del la envuelta y para impedir una extrusión hacia abajo del núcleo central. El núcleo central está rodeado de una pasta de electrodo carbonáceo concebida para curarse dentro de un electrodo sólido al calentarse y para unirse al núcleo central. Este electrodo de autococción permite la fabricación de metal de silicio en un horno del tipo Söderberg sin ninguna modificación del sistema de deslizamiento usual o de la adición de otro sistema de deslizamiento. Según la invención, un electrodo permite que el mismo hornofabrique tanto FeSi de cualquier grado y metal Si sin ninguna parada entre el cambio gradual entre uno y otro producto y cada vez con un menor coste del electrodo.The self-cooking electrode suitable for use in an electric arc furnace comprises an electrically conductive elongated open-ended casing for extending, generally vertically, into the oven. The central core is surrounded by a carbonaceous electrode paste designed to heal within a solid electrode upon heating and to join the central core. This self-cooking electrode allows the manufacture of silicon metal in a Söderberg type furnace without any modification of the usual sliding system or the addition of another sliding system. According to the invention, an electrode allows the same to burn both FeSi of any grade and metal Si without any stop between the gradual change between one product and the other and at a lower cost of the electrode.
