Abstract

Procedimiento para la preparación de citalopram purificado de fórmula I por separación de desmetil-citalopram con la fórmula III que comprende someter, opcionalmente, un producto de citalopram crudo que contiene la impureza de desmetil-citalopram a alguna purificación inicial y subsiguientemente tratar el producto crudo con un agente de formación de grupo amida o similar a amida elegido entre los agentes de fórmulas (a), b) o (c) en donde X es halógeno o un grupo O-CO-R'', Hal es halógeno, Y es O ó S, W es O, N ó S y R, R'', R''` y R''`'' se eligen cada uno de ellos entre el grupo formado por hidrógeno, alquilo y arilo o aralquilo sustituido opcionalmente; la mezcla de reacción se somete después a un lavado con ácido/base y/o cristalización y recristalización de citalopram con el fin de eliminar las amidas formadas a partir de la mezcla de citalopram crudo, y el producto de citalopram resultante se purifica opcionalmente de forma adicional y después se elabora y aísla como base o como una sal del mismo aceptable farmacéuticamente.
