Abstract

Machine for cutting slabs of rocky material. Machine for cutting slabs (2) of rocky material, equipped with a portico (5) that can slide horizontally (X) over two rails (6) that extend the length of opposite bands of the block (3) of rocky material to be cut. In the pillar (9) of the portico (Z)(5), a multiple string cutting unit (7) is mounted in a way that it can be removed vertically. This unit can make various cuts in the block (3) of rocky material, obtaining various slabs (2) of a predetermined thickness. The multiple string cutting unit (7) is equipped with a series of diamond coated strings (13) mounted in a ring around four channeled drums (12) mounted in such a way that they can rotate around axes (12a) that are parallel to the aforementioned horizontal direction (X). The multiple string cutting unit (7) is also equipped with a group of taught strings (15) that maintains each of the diamond coated strings (13) taught and keeps them separate and independent from each other.
