Abstract

Individuals passing into a designated area are detected by sensors (1) that are formed with a floor mat. Foot pressure causes the impedance to change and signals are interpreted by a central processor (3). The signal pattern is compared with information held in system memory. The sensor mat can be placed around a machine and used to enhance safety.
