Abstract
Improvements in the subject matter of patent no. 9003113 for Process for obtaining 2-halomethyl-3,5-dimethyl-4- methoxypyridine hydrohalide, to obtain the pyridine derivatives of formula I based on a first stage of O- acylation and acyloxylation of the methyl group in the 2 position of the compound < IMAGE > by treatment with an acylating reagent, obtaining the compound < IMAGE > and a further stage of halogenation in which the substituent in the 2 position becomes halomethyl through the use of a halogenating agent. The derivative of formula I is a precursor for the synthesis of omeprazole, a very effective medication for the treatment of gastric ulcers.
