Abstract
Process for obtaining homogeneous nitridable premullite + carbon mixtures in aqueous medium. Process for homogenizing premullite and carbon mixtures through the preparation of suspensions which are stable in aqueous medium with the help of an organic deflocculating agent. Homogeneous nitridable mixtures of premullite and carbon are obtained by removal of the liquid fraction. From these mixtures it is possible to synthesize ceramic oxinitride powders (SIALON) by a process of carbothermal reduction in a nitrogen atmosphere. < IMAGE > Premullite/carbon Water/deflocculant Mixing Homogenization Removal of the liquid fraction Deagglomeration Pelletizing or bricketting Carbothermal reduction in nitrogen atmosphere
