Abstract

Liquid iron oxide made by treating metallic foam having high oil or other impurifier is made directly into liquid steel by partially mixing with liquid pig iron in a converted process. The converter is filled just with liquid iron oxide and carbon and reducing gas used to reduce the melt and produces liquid steel. ADVANTAGE - The iron oxide is reduced by the carbon-rich pig iron and transformed into liquid steel. The converter is operated in the usual fashion with the blasting time being reduced as the liquid iron oxide initiates the carbon burning at an early stage. The blasting phase is also reduced which makes the oxidation of the accompanying element easier to control.
