Abstract
In order to indicate clearly and irreversibly a thawed state in frozen products such as foods, vaccines and the like, a sensor is provided which has two portions 1 and 2 which can mutually and hermetically be coupled to chambers 4 and 5 which are open at their ends which lie contiguously and are intended to contain, irrespectively, a liquid with a freezing point near to 0 degree C and a container of dye 9 which is soluble in said liquid. Provision is made for a flexible closure device 10 for closing off the chamber 4 which contains the liquid. The expansion produced by the freezing of the liquid expels the closure device 10 under pressure, in such a manner that the aforesaid chambers 4 and 5 are placed in communication. The subsequent thawing gives rise to the dissolution of the dye, so that the sensor/indicator acquires an obvious colour.
