Abstract

In the process disclosed, the wire is fed through an electrically controlled wire-braking device to a winding device, where it is wound into coils. To obtain a reproductible, defined resistance independ of variations in the specific resistance of the wire used and of the production temperature, the resistance of at least one section of wire which constitutes a spool is measured and the measurement signal is transmitted to an evaluation arrangement, where the actual value of the resistance is compared with a given reference value. If the actual value exceeds the reference value, the evaluation arrangement sends a signal to the braking device which reduces the braking action. If the actual value is less than the reference value, a signal which increases the braking action is sent. A device for implementing the process is characterized in that a braking device (2) with electrically adjustable braking force is arranged in front of the coil winding device (1).
