SE DESCRIBE UN PROCEDIMIENTO QUE COMPRENDE NEUTRALIZAR CON HIDROXIDO AMONICO LA MEZCLA DE REACCION DE HIDROLISIS, CON ACIDO SULFURICO, DE 2-HIDROXI-4-METIL-TIOBUTIRONITRILO, OBTENIENDOSE UNA FASE ACUOSA Y UNA FASE ORGANICA, LAS CUALES, UNA VEZ SEPARADAS, SE TRATAN MEDIANTE EVAPORACION PARA SEPARAR EL SULFATO AMONICO FORMADO, QUE EN EL CASO DE LA FASE ACUOSA SE RETIRA COMO SUBPRODUCTO, Y EN EL CASO DE LA FASE ORGANICA SE RECIRCULA AL RECIPIENTE DE NEUTRALIZACION. EL ACIDO 2-HIDROXI-4-METIL-TIOBUTIRICO OBTENIDO DE LA FASE ORGANICA SE DILUYE POSTERIORMENTE CON AGUA Y SE ESTABILIZA CON ACIDO SULFURICO. EL PRODUCTO OBTENIDO ES UTIL COMO SUPLEMENTO ALIMENTICIO EN LA DIETA DE ANIMALES.
