Abstract
A process for leach recovery of metals from sulphide ores, e.g. zinc sulphide, uses a dilute sulphuric acid soln. contg. oxides of nitrogen. The ore is contacted with the soln., the undissolved residue is removed, any dissolved iron pptd. and removed. The soln. is treated with a metal reductant, e.g. zinc dust, to remove all nitrates, and the metal values remaining in soln. may then be recovered e.g. by electrowinning.
