El bruxismo es una actividad parafuncional que consiste en el apriete y rechinamiento dentario, es de etiología multifactorial y está asociado principalmente al estrés y a alteraciones del sueño o parasomnias. Actualmente afecta a más del 30% de la población y sus principales consecuencias son ansiedad, estrés, depresión, dolor de oído y de cabeza, sensibilidad muscular, patologías en la articulación tempomandibular, trastornos alimentarios e insomnio.
