Abstract

Similar to any other conventional cannula used in artificial insemination, the inventive cannula comprises a flexible tubular body (1), one extremity of which ends in the corresponding apex (5). Said cannula is characterized in that the above-mentioned tubular body (1) includes a graduated scale (2) extending from a point (3) substantially distant from the end (4) receiving said apex (5) to a point (6) located substantially beyond the maximum penetration point of the cannula in the vagina. Preferably, point (3)will mark centimeter ten counting from the free end of the apex (5) and point (6) will mark centimeter forty. Also included is a suitably highlighted mark (7) corresponding to centimeter twenty-five, which is the estimated mean penetration point of the cannula when it reaches the vulva of the sow. From that point on, the degree of penetration can be changed in positive or negative sense depending on the anatomical characteristics of the sow.
