Technical area

The invention relates to a size-adjustable garment for the upper body, comprising a back part. Such garments include, for example, blazers or jackets.

Body measurements don't just change in children. Adults can also experience weight and thus body measurements changes, for example due to illness, hormonal changes, or changes in exercise and eating habits. This can result in both weight loss and weight gain. Physical change can also exhibit cycles (such as the "yo-yo effect"). It is therefore not uncommon for people to keep clothing in several sizes in order to always be appropriately dressed. Procuring and maintaining clothing is expensive, consumes increased resources, and requires a lot of storage space.

State of the art

Adjustable clothing has been around for a long time. Especially for children and pregnant women, adjustable clothing is designed to accommodate rapid body growth. The type of size adjustment depends on the intended use. Maternity pants are typically wide and have elastic and/or adjustable bands at the waist. The Fabric reserve forms wrinkles. With children's clothing, it's common to unravel hems and leave out fabric reserve, for example, to lengthen sleeves or legs. This is tedious.

It's also common to incorporate belts, adjusters, zippers, or double button plackets to adjust a garment to the current body size. Such adjustment devices are usually visible and affect the design. Here, too, there's a risk that the fabric reserve will form unwanted wrinkles.

The known adjustment options do not meet the requirements for clothing that is to be worn in a formal setting, such as a business environment.

Disclosure of the invention

The object of the invention is to create a size-adjustable garment for the upper body that does not have unwanted wrinkles and does not have a visible influence on the design. According to the invention, this object is achieved in that

1. (a) the back part is at least partially two-layered with an inner and an outer layer, wherein
2. (b) the inner layer comprises at least two back sections connected by adjustable connecting parts, and
3. (c) the outer layer extends at least over the connecting parts so that these are not visible from the outside.

In the inventive solution, the adjustment mechanism is formed by adjustable connecting parts that are hidden beneath an outer layer and are not visible from the outside. The two back sections of the inner layer have a distance from each other that can be adjusted using the adjustable connecting parts. Since only the distance is changed, no wrinkles are created. No fabric reserve needs to be activated. The adjustment can be made simply at the connecting parts. No hem needs to be undone, and no zippers, elastic fasteners, or the like are required.

In particular, it can be provided that the connecting parts are formed by straps whose length is adjustable. The two back sections of the inner layer can be connected by several of these straps, which run essentially horizontally. If the straps are adjusted to a shorter length, the garment is adjusted to a slimmer body size. By lengthening the straps, the garment can be adjusted to a larger body circumference. Depending on whether only the abdominal area or also the chest area is affected by the size change, the length of all the straps or just some of the straps can be changed. In particular, the change in the length of each individual strap can be individually adjusted. The straps can be designed in two parts and connected with a clip or loop, which allow length adjustment. Alternatively, the straps are designed in one piece and have an adjustment mechanism, for example, at one or both ends.

Preferably, the inner layer is connected to the outer layer. This prevents slipping or unwanted displacement during movement. The connection can be detachable, for example via buttons, Velcro, or the like. Alternatively, vertical straps that connect the outer layer to the inner layer can be permanently incorporated and cannot be removed without causing damage. For this purpose, a slit is provided in the inner layer so that the strap can move according to the adjusted size. Furthermore, the inner layer can also be firmly sewn to the outer layer in certain places, with only the parts affected by the size adjustment being detachable or adjustable.

In particular, a connection between the inner and outer layers can be provided in the collar area. This connection is not affected by the size adjustment and can be permanently sewn. It goes without saying that it can also be detachable.

Furthermore, a detachable connection between the inner and outer layers in the back area can be provided on both sides of the gap between the back sections. The position of the connection can be adjusted to the respective size.

The inner layer advantageously has front panels with shoulder areas that extend below the collar on the front. The inner layer does not necessarily have to extend all the way down the front. Especially for garments intended for wear in higher temperatures, the double layering can be limited to a few areas. For warmer jackets, for example, the inner layer can also extend to the lower front edge.

In a further embodiment of the invention, the inner layer has sleeves. This gives the garment the appearance of a jacket or blazer. Without sleeves, it would be a vest.

Advantageously, the outer layer is sleeveless. The outer layer can, for example, be in the form of a vest that extends over the inner layer. The transition between the inner and outer layers occurs at the lower armhole, where a seam or transition is always provided anyway, so that the external appearance does not change significantly compared to garments that are not adjustable.

An inconspicuous arrangement is particularly achieved when the outer layer extends down the front to the bottom of the garment. Only the sleeves, if present, of the inner layer are visible.

For particularly easy handling, the connectors used to connect the back sections of the inner layer of the back panel are provided with size markings. This allows the adjustment to be made before the first try-on and makes readjustment easier.

A lining can also be provided to conceal the connecting parts from the inside. This is particularly advantageous if the adjustment option should remain hidden from third parties and not visible even when the garment is hung over a chair back or on a hook.

The invention is particularly well-suited for use when the garment is a blazer or jacket. It is understood that other garments with a back panel, including those that are closed at the front or sleeveless, may also be designed in this manner, for example, traditional garments, blouses, vests, coats, ponchos, and the like.

Embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims. An embodiment is explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Description of the embodiment

The figures show a blazer, generally designated 10. The blazer 10 essentially consists of an inner layer 12 and an outer layer 14. Figure 2 , Figure 8 and Figure 10 show only the inner layer 12 of the blazer 10. The inner layer 12 has a two-part back part with back sections 15 and 16. Between the back sections 15 and 16 there is a gap 19. The back sections 15 and 16 are connected with adjustment straps 18. In the present embodiment, 7 adjustment straps 18 are provided. It is understood that more or fewer Adjustment straps 18 may be provided. More adjustment straps 18 may be used, particularly for longer garments, and fewer for shorter garments.

In principle, any type of adjustment strap is suitable where the length of the adjustment strap and thus the space between the back sections 15 and 16 can be adjusted. In the present exemplary embodiment, a two-part adjustment strap 18 is selected, which is used in a similar way, for example, to adjust the length of bra straps. A first strap section 20 is guided through a ring 22. Both ends of the strap section are firmly sewn to the back section 15. A second strap section 23 is also guided through the ring 22. One end of the strap section 23 is firmly sewn to the other back section 16. The other end of the strap section 22 is attached to a slider 24, which is guided so as to be displaceable over the remaining area of the strap section. When the slider 24 is moved towards the ring 22, the loop guided through the ring shortens and the adjustment strap 18 becomes longer. When the slider 24 is pushed away from the ring, the loop guided through the ring 22 lengthens and the adjustment strap becomes shorter.

The back sections 15 and 16 are connected in the shoulder area in the usual way to the front parts 26 and sleeves 28. In the present embodiment, the front parts 26 extend only to the lower edge 34 below the collar area. They are shorter than the back part with the back sections 15 and 16. This is in Figure 8 and Figure 10 easy to recognize.

Fastening straps 30 are attached to the collar area of the front parts 26. Fastening straps 32 are also attached to the back sections 15 and 16. Furthermore, loops 52 are attached to the inside of the back part, through which the adjustment straps 18 pass. The fastening straps 30, 32 and the loops 52 serve to attach the outer layer 14 to the inner layer 12. The connection can be detachable, for example, with buttons, loops, eyelets, and/or Velcro fasteners.

The outer layer 14 has front parts 42 and back parts 44 and is completely visible from the outside. Accordingly, the outer layer 14 extends both front and back to to the lower end 36 of the blazer 10. Depending on the design, it is provided with pockets 38, button strips and or other design elements and can have a collar 40. The outer layer 14 in Figures 1 and 2 has no sleeves and is open at the sides. The second version, which is Figures 3 to 13 As illustrated, the side part is firmly sewn to the front part. This is the transition from the outer to the inner layer. The sleeves and side areas, which are also visible from the outside, are formed by the inner layer 12. The front and back parts, which are visible from the outside, are formed by the outer layer 14. The space 19 between the back sections 15 and 16, as well as the adjustment straps 18, are completely covered by the outer layer 14. This is shown in the Figures 4, 6 and 9 easy to recognize.

The width of the Blazer 10 can be adjusted as follows:
For a narrower width, the adjustment straps 18 are adjusted to a shorter length using the slider 24. The gap 19 is correspondingly narrower and the circumference of the blazer 10 is smaller. To estimate the appropriate length of the adjustment straps 18, markings 46 are provided on the adjustment straps 18. These are shown in Figure 12 clearly visible. Particularly suitable markings 46 are those that correspond to the set clothing size. In the present exemplary embodiment, markings for women's clothing sizes in Germany were used, such as 40, 42, and 44. It is understood that in other countries or for other applications, other size systems may also be used for the markings 46, such as S, M, and L or the like.

Figure 3 and Figure 4 show the Blazer 10 in a smaller size. The front shoulder area is 48 in Figure 3 and from behind in the back area 50 in Figure 4 only a little of the inner layer 12 can be seen. Figure 5 and Figure 6 show the Blazer 10 in a shot on a larger scale. Comparing the figures, it can be seen that in the shoulder area 48 in Figure 5 more of the inner layer 12 is visible than in the shoulder area in Figure 3 . Likewise, in the back area 50 in Figure 6 more of the inner layer 12 to see than in Figure 4 The outer layer 14 remains the same size.

The adjustment straps 18 and the gap 19 are completely covered by the outer layer 14. The adjustment is carried out without being visible from the outside. The outer Layer 14 is connected to inner layer 12 at fastening straps 30, 32 and loops 52. This prevents layers 12 and 14 from slipping against each other. Blazer 10 can thus be adjusted to different sizes without the need for a fabric reserve that would crease in smaller sizes. There is no need for elastic elements, zippers, or double button plackets, and the design leaves all options open. Formal, often expensive, clothing in particular can be adjusted at any time to achieve a perfect fit. It is understood that the fastening straps cannot be adjusted exclusively to markings 46, but also to any value in between. In particular, fastening straps 18 at different heights can also be adjusted to different sizes if changes in body shape require it.

Optionally, a lining 54 can be provided, which also conceals the fastening straps 18 on the inside. The lining can be open or detachably attached on one side, so that the fastening straps 18 are accessible for adjustment. Figure 11 shows a view from the inside of the back with the lining pushed aside.

Size-adjustable garment (10) for the upper body with a back part, characterized in that (a) the back part is formed in at least two layers with an inner and an outer layer (12, 14), wherein (b) the inner layer (12) comprises at least two back sections (15, 16) connected by adjustable connecting parts (18), and (c) the outer layer (14) extends at least over the connecting parts (18) so that these are not visible from the outside. Garment according to claim 1, characterized in that the connecting parts are formed by bands (18) whose length is adjustable. Garment according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the inner layer (12) is connected to the outer layer (14). Garment according to claim 3, characterized in that a connection (30) of the inner and outer layers (14) is provided in the collar region. Garment according to claim 3 or 4, characterized in that a connection (32) of the inner (12) with the outer layer (14) is provided in the back region on both sides of the intermediate space (19) between the back sections (15, 16). Garment according to claim 5, characterized in that the connection (32) of the inner layer (12) to the outer layer (14) is detachably or firmly sewn.
