Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an aerosol-generating article or more particularly heat-not-burn article and its use thereof, comprising at least one or more non-combustible filler material.
  • heated tobacco products referred as “aerosol generating articles” or more particularly “heat-not-burn” in the description, are evidently well- accepted as the consumption has been steadily increasing probably due to the fact that these products are considered to be a safer alternative to smoking as they have been demonstrated that less harmful compounds are being released.
  • Typical aerosol generating devices using a heated tobacco article generate an aerosol or vapour by heating the aerosol substrate that typically comprises moist leaf tobacco or other suitable aerosolisable material to a temperature typically in the range of 150°C to 350°C. Heating an aerosol substrate, but not combusting or burning it, releases an aerosol that comprises the components sought by the user but not the toxic and carcinogenic byproducts of combustion and burning.
  • Patent document US 5396909 relates to a fuel element adapted for use in a smoking article, wherein the fuel element including a combustible carbonaceous material in an amount of at least 25% by dry weight based on the weight of the fuel element.
  • the smoking article has a lighting end and a mouth end.
  • a heat generation segment is provided at the lighting end, where the heat is delimited by an insulation and a buffer region.
  • the buffer region reduces potential scorching or other internal thermal degradation of portions of the aerosolgenerating segment.
  • Patent document KR 20200030368 relates to a non-flammable wrapper which has non-flammability by including a metal paste, additives such as fillers and flammable agents that control combustibility and improve heat conduction efficiency. It is disclosed therein that the filler contained in the pulp layer is 30-40%.
  • a first aspect of the invention is accordingly to provide a heat-not-burn aerosol-generating article, comprising a filter portion provided to a mouth end and a tobacco-containing substrate portion provided to a distal end, wherein the tobacco-containing substrate portion further comprises a non-combustible portion provided at the distal end of the article, wherein non-combustible filler material which is not prone to combust or bum is provided to a cigarette paper corresponds to the non-combustible portion, forming a non-combustible cigarette paper, wherein the non-combustible cigarette paper comprises less than 5.0 wt. % of the non-combustible filler material, and the rest of the weight of the non- combustible cigarette paper being made up predominantly of wood pulp and/or tobacco originating fibres.
  • a second aspect of the invention is accordingly to provide a heat-not- burn aerosol-generating article according to the present invention, wherein the non-combustible filler material is provided to form a non-combustible cigarette paper by coating a cigarette paper, or by soaking a cigarette paper with liquid containing the non-combustible filler material, or by mixing the non-combustible filler material with a cigarette paper.
  • a third aspect of the invention is accordingly the use of non- combustible filler material in a heat-not-burn aerosol-generating article as a non- combustible filler material which is not prone to combust or bum, wherein the non-combustible filler material is provided to a cigarette paper corresponds to the non-combustible portion, forming a non-combustible cigarette paper.
  • Such heat-not-burn aerosol-generating article has the advantage to prevent user from lighting said articles, either intentionally or unintentionally. For instance, in the event that the user mistakenly attempts to light the aerosolgenerating article, the user would instantaneously realise that said article is not a conventional cigarette as the aerosol-generating article of the present invention cannot be lightened by a lighter as a standard cigarette. Furthermore, the use of non-combustible filler material has low impact on the heat transfer through the article. Moreover, incorporation as low percentage as possible of noncombustible filler material into the non-combustible portion is an objective of the present invention as it is intended to mimic the present non-combustible aerosolgenerating articles with the conventional smoking articles.
  • the tobacco-containing substrate portion comprises a non-combustible portion comprising non- combustible filler material provided at the distal end (W) of the aerosol-generating article.
  • the non-combustible portion is preferably provided with a length of approximately between 5 mm to 20 mm, preferably 8 mm to 16 mm, more preferably approximately 10 mm.
  • the technical effect resulting from the technical feature is that the article cannot be lighted by a lighter while a minimum overall cost of manufacturing the smoking articles can be achieved.
  • the non-combustible filler material is provided to the cigarette paper and to a tobacco-containing substrate, forming the non-combustible portion comprising the non-combustible cigarette paper and non-combustible tobacco-containing substrate, respectively. At least a portion of the cigarette paper provided with the non-combustible filler material (at the distal end) is sufficient to prevent the user from lighting the smoking article. If the non-combustible filler material is provided as a substrate to the tobaccocontaining portion, it could further prevent internal heating type of device (such as heat-not-burn aerosol-generating device) from heating up the smoking article internally.
