Eine Haushaltsgeschirrspülmaschine durchläuft in einem üblichen Geschirrspülprogramm einen oder mehrere flüssigkeitsführende Teilspülgänge, zum Beispiel einen Vorspülgang, einen Reinigungsgang, einen Zwischenspülgang und einen Klarspülgang. Daran anschließend wird üblicherweise ein Trocknungsgang durchgeführt. Während der jeweiligen flüssigkeitsführenden Teilspülgänge wird Spülflüssigkeit, d.h. sogenannte Spülflotte, über eine oder mehrere Flüssigkeitsverteilvorrichtung(en) in den Spülbehälter eingebracht. Derartige Flüssigkeitsverteilvorrichtungen können beispielsweise durch rotierende Sprüharme, durch eine Dachbrause und/oder durch eine bewegliche Sprühdüse, wie zum Beispiel einen Dachkreisel, im Spülbehälter gebildet sein. Mit ihrer Hilfe kann Spülflüssigkeit in den Spülbehälter vorzugsweise derart eingebracht werden, dass mit dieser das dort in Beladeeinheiten, zum Beispiel ausziehbaren Geschirrkörben und/oder Besteckschubladen, gehaltene Spülgut direkt oder indirekt beaufschlagt wird. Als Spülflüssigkeit kann für den jeweiligen flüssigkeitsführenden Teilspülgang vorzugsweise Wasser verwendet werden, das ggf. mit Reinigungs- und/oder Klarspülmittel versetzt sein kann. Vorzugsweise kann für den Vorspülgang Frischwasser aus einer Hauswasserleitung, das insbesondere mittels einer Enthärtungsanlage der Geschirrspülmaschine enthärtet wird, oder Brauchwasser, das in einem Vorratsspeicher der Geschirrspülmaschine aus dem Klarspülgang des vorausgehenden Geschirrspülprogramms gespeichert ist, verwendet werden. Für den Reinigungsgang wird vorzugsweise mittels der Enthärtungsanlage enthärtetes Frischwasser verwendet, das mit Reinigungsmittel versetzt ist. Im Zwischenspülgang wird vorzugsweise enthärtetes Frischwasser eingesetzt.
