Description

The invention relates to a method for producing a book block and a book block for a book-like document of value or security and a method for producing a book-like document of value or security and such a document of value or security.

From the DE 10 2008 023 411 A1 discloses a book-like document of value and the method according to the preamble of claim 1 for its production, which comprises a book cover and a book block connected thereto. The book block consists of an endpaper and one or more inner pages. One of the insides can also be designed as a data page or personal data page. The endpaper and the inner pages are sewn together with at least one thread along a folded edge of the book block. In this case, the at least one thread extends through a plurality of seam holes that are located in the folded edge of the book block. The at least one thread has a core with a high melting temperature and an outer coating with a low melting temperature. After the inner sides and the attachment have been sewn up, the coating of the thread or threads can be melted by the action of temperature, as a result of which the seam is glued.

From the DE 199 08 052 A1 a bookbinding method and a device for carrying out the method are known, as a result of which a stack of sheets stacked flat on top of one another are connected to one another by thread stitching. To create the thread stitching, a stitching is formed, which is impregnated with an anaerobic adhesive that hardens by UV drying.

Furthermore, it is known that with such a book-like value or security document, a book block consisting of one or more inside pages and a header by a seam with a chain stitch connected. With such a chain stitch, an upper thread spool and a lower thread spool are used, between which the stacked inner pages and the attachment for sewing are guided along. One or more threads are passed through the suture hole to grab the lower thread to pass it back through the suture hole on the top. The further work steps for forming a looped chain are then carried out.

The invention is based on the object of proposing a method for producing a book block for a book-like document and a book block as well as a method for producing a book-like value or security document and a book-like value or security document in which the number of process steps for producing the Book blocks or the book-like value or security document is reduced.

This object is achieved by a method for producing a book block, in which at least two threads are intertwined and passed through at least two binding holes along a fold edge of the book block and led out on a common inner side of the endpaper and the threads on the inner side of the endpaper be pre-fixed. This method enables a simplification for connecting the at least one inner side and the endpaper to form a book block in comparison to the production of a seam, in particular by means of a chain stitch. With this method, a lower thread can be omitted, which means that frequent changing of a lower thread bobbin is no longer necessary. In addition, this connection technique enables a flexible configuration of the at least one inner side and the endpaper and/or the threads for connecting the at least one inner side and the endpaper to form a book block.

Provision is preferably made for the at least two threads to be intertwined and led out through the tying holes without knotting at least on the inner side of the endpaper and placed on the inner side of the endpaper and prefixed with it. This knot-free arrangement also has the advantage that a lower structural height can be achieved with a book block. In addition, a reduction in the process time for producing such a book block can be achieved.

It is preferably provided that one or more loops of the thread or threads and/or one or more thread ends of the threads are passed through a binding hole and loop ends of the loops or the thread ends of the threads are pre-fixed on the attachment. Due to the variable configuration, a security feature can be achieved when the at least one data page and the endpaper are combined to form a book block.

Provision is preferably made for at least two loops or threads passed through a binding hole to be placed and pre-fixed in opposite directions on the inner side of the attachment. As a result, additional reinforcement can be achieved at the connection point between the header and the at least one inner side.

According to a further embodiment of the method, it is provided that the loop ends passed through the tying hole are cut and the resulting thread ends of the thread are fixed on the attachment. A further increase in security against forgery can thereby be achieved, since both the loop ends and/or the respective thread ends of the thread can be pre-fixed on the attachment after the loop ends have been separated.

A further preferred embodiment of the method provides that a number of loops or a number of thread ends of the threads that are passed through the binding holes, seen on the right inner side of the endpaper to the fold edge and a further number of loops or a number of thread ends of the threads on the left inner side of the flyleaf as seen from the fold edge. In this case, a regularly alternating orientation can be provided. The respective loops or threads can also be placed on the right and/or left inner side of the attachment according to the random principle.

The loop ends or the thread ends of the threads are preferably aligned at right angles to the folding edge and placed and pre-fixed on the inner side of the endpaper. As a result, an arrangement that is easy to check can be provided in order to detect manipulations more easily.

If several threads are passed through the tying holes, it is preferably provided that the number of tying holes through which the respective thread is passed differ from one another. As a result, an additional security feature can also be created in a simple manner with this connection technology.

A further preferred embodiment of the method provides that the loop ends or thread ends of the threads, which are pre-fixed on the inside of the attachment, are designed to be of the same length or different from one another in terms of length, starting from the respective binding hole. As a result, a further security feature against manipulation can be created.

In particular, it is provided that at least two threads differ in shape and/or material and/or color and are passed through a common tying hole. As a result, not only specific requirements for the connection along the folded edge can be made possible. It is also possible, for example, to use fibers that are specific to each country.

To connect the at least one inner side to the attachment, a thread made of a metallic fiber, a thread made of a metallic fiber with a plastic sheath, a textile fiber, a textile fiber made of a coating or sheath made of plastic, a fiber made of a polymer Material, a thread made of a core with polymeric material which has a high melting point and at least one coating made of a polymeric material with a low melting point compared to the core. A thread with a core made of a conductive material, such as a carbon fiber, a wire strand or conductive particles introduced into a polymeric material, can also be formed. This configuration described above of the thread can also have a coating that can be non-conductive or conductive. A polymer matrix made of a base polymer with several security pigments introduced can also be provided. A stranded wire can also be made from a plurality of filaments, with these filaments being able to consist of plastic and/or textile materials and/or metallic fibers.

The object on which the invention is based is also achieved by a book block for a book-like valuable or security document, in which a book block, which comprises at least one inner side and an endpaper, has a plurality of threads that are guided through binding holes in the at least one inner side and the endpaper are, which extend along a folding edge, are connected to form a book block, with at least two threads being intertwined and passed through at least two binding holes and led out to a common inner side of the endpaper and the threads being prefixed to the endpaper. With such a book block, the endpaper and the at least one inner side and possibly data page or personal information page are finished as a preliminary product, so that this book block can be provided for hanging in a book cover.

It is preferably provided that the at least two intertwined threads, which are led out through the binding hole, point towards the inner side of the endpaper, are arranged without knotting and the threads are pre-fixed on the inside of the endpaper. As a result, the book block can be produced more cost-effectively. The loops or threads passed through the binding hole can be pre-fixed with their respective ends on the inside of the attachment. For example, such a pre-fixing can be done by gluing. The pre-fixing can be done by means of a liquid applied or sprayed adhesive. An adhesive film, which has adhesive properties, can also be applied to the attachment. After binding the book block into the book cover, this adhesive film can be heated to an activation temperature and then Harden.

A security feature can easily be formed by selecting a number of loop ends of the loops or a number of threads that are deposited on the right or left inside of the attachment.

The loops or threads that are led out through the at least two tying holes are preferably placed in opposite directions on the inner side of the attachment. This allows the attachment to be firmly attached to the at least one inner side.

Provision is preferably made for the loop or thread ends of the threads, which are pre-fixed on the inner side of the endpaper, to be aligned at right angles to the folding edge. This simplifies the manufacturing process.

To further increase security against forgery, it can be provided that the number of tying holes through which the respective threads are passed differ from one another. As a result, a diverse pattern of the individual threads that are passed through the tying holes can be formed.

Furthermore, it can preferably be provided that the loop or thread ends of the threads, which are prefixed on the inside of the attachment, are designed to be the same length or different from one another or are repeated in a pattern.

Advantageously, at least two threads can differ in shape and/or in material and/or in color. This enables a diverse configuration for the production of the book block.

To produce the book block, a selection of threads can be made which, for example, have a metallic fiber or comprise a metallic fiber with a plastic sheath. A thread with a textile fiber or several filaments can also consist of textile fibers. Such a thread with at least one textile fiber can also have a plastic sheath. Also he can Thread made of a polymeric material. For example, the thread can have a core with a polymer matrix which has a high melting point and at least one coating made of a polymer material which has a low melting point compared to the core. As a result, an additional bonding of the threads with the tying hole or holes can be achieved. A thread with a conductive material can also be provided. This can also include a coating. As a result, a further check can be made possible when a voltage is applied to check the originality of the book block. The thread can also be formed from a polymer matrix, from a base polymer with a number of security pigments or as a braid made from a number of filaments.

The object on which the invention is based is also achieved by a method for producing a book-like value or security document, in which a book block according to one of the preceding embodiments is hung in a book cover and an endpaper of the book block is glued or welded to the book cover. Depending on the design of the thread, different possible combinations can result. For example, in the case of a thread having a coating of a polymeric material with a low melting point, this coating may form part of the adhesive or welded joint between the endpaper and the book cover.

The object on which the invention is based is also achieved by a book-like value or security document in which a book cover is firmly connected to a book block according to one of the embodiments described above. The loop or thread ends of the threads are positioned and fixed between the book cover and the endpaper. Even an optical analysis of the threads used or the wrapping of the threads and/or the passage through the binding holes allows conclusions to be drawn about the production on the one hand and possible manipulation on the other.

In figure 1 a book-like document 11, in particular a security document, is shown in perspective. This book-like document 11 is, for example, an identification document such as a passport. The document 11 comprises a book cover 12, for example. The endpaper 14 and one or more inner pages 18 are connected to one another to form a book block 15 via a thread connection 28 along a folding edge 16 . A data page 17 can also be bound into the book block 15 . The inner pages 18 of the book-like document 11 can, for example, to accommodate Visa, stamps or other entries are used. The data page 17 consists of a data carrier 20 and a tab 23 attached to it. The data page 17, in particular the data carrier 20, can be designed, for example, according to the ICAO standard, in particular according to ICAO Doc 9303, seventh edition, and an image 19 of the document owner, an OCR-readable ICAO zone 21 (also called "Machine Readable Zone", MRZ) and further personalization data 22 . The personalization data 22 are provided within the data carrier 20 . The tab 23 of the data carrier 20 extends over the thread connection 28 along the folding edge 16 away.

In figure 2 a side view of the data page 17 is shown schematically. The data carrier 20 can, for example, comprise a transponder module 24 which consists of an IC chip 25 and an antenna 26 . In addition or as an alternative, further electronic and/or other security elements, in particular diffractive security elements, can be incorporated and/or applied.

The tab 23 is connected to the data carrier 20 with the formation of an overlapping area 30 . The tab 23 consists of a textile strip material which is preferably connected to an outermost layer or ply of the data carrier 20 by welding. With regard to the connection of the tab 23 of the textile strip-like material for the tab 23 and the data carrier 20 and the structure of the data carrier 20 is fully on the DE 10 2012 213 913 A1 referenced.

The tab 23 has a region 31 that protrudes beyond a longitudinal edge 33 of the data carrier 20 . Within this protruding area 31 follows the connection of the data page 17 to the inner pages 18 for a book block 15. In this protruding area 31, the thread connection 28 can also be introduced.

A textile strip material, such as a woven, knitted or crocheted fabric, a felt or fleece, preferably made from one or more yarn materials, is preferably used as the strip material. As Materials for the tab 23 are preferably used textile materials, which are preferably made entirely or partially of plastic (polymer). Yarns based on polyesters (PA), polyurethane (TPU), polyamides (PA) and acrylates are preferably used. The material can preferably be formed at least partially from polyester. The melting temperature of the tab 23 is preferably significantly higher than that of the data carrier 20 so that the strength properties of the tab material are largely retained during the welding process. In addition, the textile material can partially consist of cotton. For example, a cotton-polymer mixture, in particular a cotton-polyester mixture, can also be used. Furthermore, the tab can be formed from at least two different materials (mixed fabric), one of which melts when the tab is welded to the data carrier and the other material does not bond to the data carrier during the welding process. Woven materials consisting of monofilament yarns are preferably used as tab materials.

Furthermore, the data carrier 20 is preferably formed from one or more layers and the one or more layers made from one or more plastic materials are used to form a data carrier 20 or a data carrier in a laminate composite. In this way, in particular, a good binding of the strip material for formation on the data carrier 20 can be made possible. For example, welding can take place, which at least allows the preferably textile strip material to claw into the data carrier 20 . The data carrier is preferably formed from a polycarbonate or from a polycarbonate derivative. Furthermore, other plastics can be provided to form the data carrier, in particular bisphenol A polycarbonate, carboxy-modified PC, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), its derivatives such as glycol-modified PET (PETG), carboxy-modified PET, polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyvinyl butyral (PVB), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polyimide (PI), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl phenol (PVP), polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene (PE), thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), in particular thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer (ABS) and/or derivatives thereof, or of paper and/or cardboard, or of mixtures of the aforementioned materials. The material for the data carrier is preferably formed at least partially from polycarbonate or from a polycarbonate derivative.

In figure 3 12 is a schematic side view of the book-like document 11 according to FIG figure 1 shown. A plurality of threads 32, 33 are provided along the folded edge 16, which threads extend partially along the inner side 18 and are passed through tie holes 36 in order to be passed to the inner side 37 of the endpaper 14. After the book block 15 has been connected to the book cover 12, these threads 32, 33 are arranged between the endpaper 14 and an inner side of the book cover 12. An adhesive bond can be provided between the endpaper 14 and the book cover 12 . Alternatively, a lamination or a welded connection can also be formed.

The threads 32, 33, which connect the endpaper 14 and the inside 18 and possibly the data page 17 to form a book block 15, are provided at least on the inner side 37 of the endpaper 14 without knotting. The threads 32, 33 preferably extend both on the outer and the inner side of the book block 15 without knotting. The inner side 37 of the endpaper 14 is that side which is prepared for the book cover 12 .

In figure 4 shows a schematic side view of two consecutive work steps. The first step relates to the completion of the book block 15, in which the thread ends 41, 42, 43, 44 of the at least two threads 32, 33 are pivoted toward the inner side 37 of the endpaper 14 and prefixed thereto. The prefixing of the thread ends 41, 42, 43, 44 of the threads 32, 33 can be provided by an adhesive bond.

The second step in figure 4 14 illustrates the joining of the book cover 12 to the book block 15 by joining the book cover 12 to the inner page 37 of the endpaper 14. FIG.

In figure 5 a schematic view of the book block 15 is shown. This view shows the end of the in figure 4 described first step after the thread ends 41, 42, 43, 44 are prefixed on the inner side 37 of the attachment 14.

In this exemplary embodiment, the lengths of the thread ends 41, 42, 43, 44, starting from the respective binding hole 36, are preferably of the same length. Alternatively, these may be of unequal length or form a varied pattern. The length of the thread ends 41, 42 arranged on the right side of the folded edge 16 can be of different lengths. The thread ends 41, 42 on the right-hand side and the thread ends 43, 44 on the left-hand side of the folded edge 16 can also be of different lengths.

The thread ends 41, 42, 43, 44 are preferably all aligned parallel to one another, in particular at right angles to the folding edge 16. These can also be prefixed on the end paper 14 at angles that differ from one another.

A thread 32 may extend through a predetermined number of binding holes 36 so that it extends alternately on the top and bottom of the book block. The thread 32 can also be passed through a binding hole 36 to the upper side and be led back to the underside of the book block 15 at a binding hole 36 next but one. A plurality of threads 32, 33 are preferably passed through a tying hole 36, the number of tying holes 36 through which the respective threads 32, 33 are passed preferably deviating from one another.

For example, a thread 32 can be prefixed with its thread ends 41, 42 on the same side as the folding edge 16 on the endpaper 14. Alternatively, the thread 32 can have a first thread end 41 on one side of the folded edge 16 and the second thread end 42 on the opposite side to the folded edge 16 .

As an alternative to the in figure 5 illustrated embodiment, in which the thread ends 41, 42, 43, 44 of the threads 32, 33 are prefixed on the attachment 14, loops can also be prefixed.

In figure 6 a schematic side view of a work step for the production of the book block 15 is shown. For example, a thread 32 , 33 is guided along an upper side of the book block 15 . This can be pulled off a spool. A tool 51, which has a plurality of needles 52, can be fed to the book block 15. The needles 52 are passed through the binding holes 36 . The needles 52 grasp the thread 32, 33, so that a loop 53 is subsequently formed when the needles 52 are guided out of the binding holes 36. In a subsequent work step, the loops 53 can be placed on the attachment 14 and pre-fixed.

Alternatively, provision can be made for the loops 53 to be severed along the line 55 . The thread ends 41, 42, 43, 44 formed from this are then pre-fixed on the attachment 14. This can be done according to one of the embodiments described above.

In figure 7 1 is a schematic view from above of an alternative manufacturing step for forming the loop 53 and an entanglement between two threads 32,33. The thread 32 is fed via a first spool. The second thread 33 is fed via a spool arranged adjacent thereto. One tool 51 has a first number of needles 52 and a second tool 54 has a second number of needles 52 which can be fed to the binding holes 36 independently of one another. These can also be passed through the binding holes 36 one after the other or simultaneously. To form a loop, one section of the needles 52 is led out again through the binding holes 36 and laid down to one side along the folding edge 16 . The second portion of the needles 52 is also passed through the binding holes 36 and deposited on the opposite side of the folded edge 16. The loops 53 can then be pre-fixed on the attachment 14 . Alternatively, the loops 53 can also be separated or cut, so that the individual thread ends 41, 42, 43, 44 are pre-fixed on the attachment 14.
