Description

The invention relates to a method for masking surfaces to be matted. The invention also relates to a method for matting surfaces, which includes such a method for masking surfaces to be matted.

Methods for masking surfaces to be matted and methods for matting surfaces are known in numerous variations. From the U.S. 7,563,382 B2 there is known a method of manufacturing a mask which endures long use and can be used to form an isolated pattern with a high aspect ratio. The method includes the following steps: applying an elastic material in the form of a liquid or paste with high accuracy to desired areas of a PZT plate material to be processed (PZT: lead zirconate titanate) to form a mask pattern, with the elastic material over a nozzle is applied and forms a soft layer of material after curing. A resin material such as epoxy, urethane and silicon is used as the elastic material. Subsequently, a hard material in the form of liquid or paste is applied to the soft material layer and cured to form a hard material layer. Metal paste such as silver paste, solder or the like can be used as the hard material. This produces a mask that includes the soft material layer and the hard material layer. A sandblasting process is then performed by spraying an abrasive grit jet onto the PZT sheet material on which the mask has been formed. In this case, a structure is produced in the PZT sheet material in which a plurality of piezoelectric bodies are arranged in a desired layout. The mask is then removed using a wet etching process.

The invention is based on the object of providing a method for masking surfaces to be matted and a method for matting surfaces with such a method for masking surfaces to be matted, which allows a simple and quick application of the masking to the surface to be matted and a Allows easy and quick removal of the masking from the frosted surface and the creation of various optical effects.

This object is achieved by a method for masking surfaces to be matted with the features of patent claim 1 and by a method for matting surfaces with the features of patent claim 5 solved. Advantageous configurations with expedient developments of the invention are specified in the dependent patent claims.

In order to provide a method for masking surfaces to be matted, which allows the masking to be applied easily and quickly to the surface to be matted, and the masking to be removed from the matted surface easily and quickly, and various optical effects to be created, at least one is not required matting area of the surface to be matted of a provided workpiece is masked with a first layer of a first lacquer material. Then the same area that is not to be matted is masked with a second layer of a second lacquer material. In this case, the first paint material is designed in such a way that the first layer can be easily detached from the surface. The second paint material is selected and applied in such a way that the second layer has a high level of resistance to a blasting medium jet of abrasive material, which is higher than the resistance of the first layer. Furthermore, the first paint material is a water-based paint. The second paint material is a solvent based paint. Masking with a first layer of water-based paint and a second layer of solvent-based paint with high resistance compared to masking with a purely water-based paint has the advantage that the layer thickness can be chosen to be higher with solvent-based paints and is therefore sufficient Significantly fewer application processes, for example only one printing process instead of several printing processes, in order to achieve the required layer thickness for the masking. Compared to masking with a purely solvent-based paint, applying the first layer of water-based and therefore water-soluble paint allows the entire masking to be easily removed, since the separating layer and thus the second layer of solvent-based paint applied over it can be removed more easily with water . The solvent-based paint can be cured, for example, by means of an additional drying process under UV light or simply by means of air drying or by other suitable methods. Here, in at least one masking job, a high second Layer thickness of the second layer achieved, which is higher than the first layer thickness of the first layer. The second layer thickness can be thicker than the first layer thickness by a factor of 2 to 4, for example. As a result, only two application processes are required in order to apply the masking with a sufficient overall protective layer to the surface to be matted.

Advantageously, the easily removable first layer acts as a "separation layer" allowing easy removal of the entire mask, and the overlying second layer, having greater resistance to a blast of abrasive material, acts as a "protective layer" during surface blasting a blasting jet of abrasive material and can be applied with at least one application process. Various optical effects can be created by masking the surface to be matted.

Furthermore, a method for matting surfaces is proposed with the following steps: providing a workpiece with a surface to be matted, areas of the surface not to be matted being masked with such a method for masking surfaces to be matted, and blasting the surface with a blasting medium jet made of abrasive material so that unmasked areas of the surface are matted.

In a further advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention for masking surfaces to be matted, the first layer and/or the second layer can be masked by means of a pad printing method. A silicone pad of a pad printing system can be partially coated with the first paint material or the second paint material, with the coated silicone pad printing the at least one area of the surface that is not to be matted with the first paint material or the second paint material. This means that the silicone tampon is partially coated with the first lacquer material to apply the first layer and partially with the second to apply the second layer Paint material is coated. The pad printing process has the advantage that automated masking of convex, flat and concave surfaces is possible, resulting in lower process costs.

In an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention for matting surfaces, the second layer thickness of the second layer can be applied so high that the second layer is not completely removed during blasting with the abrasive material and the underlying areas of the surface that are not to be matted are not matted .

In a further advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention for matting surfaces, the first layer and the second layer can be removed and/or peeled off the surface after blasting with the abrasive material. Due to the first layer acting as a separating layer, the entire masking can be removed from the matted surface with pure water or with water and light chemical additives. This has an advantageous effect with regard to occupational safety and environmental protection. In addition, the simple cleaning makes it possible for the cleaning process to be carried out mechanically and therefore faster than by hand.

Embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing and are explained in more detail in the following description. In the drawing, the same reference symbols denote components or elements that perform the same or analogous functions. Here show:
1
a schematic flowchart of an embodiment of a method according to the invention for masking surfaces to be matted,
2
a schematic flowchart of an embodiment of a method according to the invention for matting surfaces, and
3
a schematic sectional view of a workpiece with a surface to be matted, which is made with the method for masking surfaces to be matted 1 was masked.

How out 1 and 3 As can be seen, the illustrated exemplary embodiment of the method 100 according to the invention for masking surfaces 3 to be matted comprises a step S100 in which a workpiece 1 with a surface 3 to be matted is provided. In step S110, at least one area 5 of the surface 3 that is not to be matted is masked with a first layer S1 made of a first lacquer material. In step S120, the same area 5 that is not to be matted is masked with a second layer S2 of a second lacquer material. In this case, the first lacquer material is designed in such a way that the first layer S1 can be easily detached from the surface 3 . The second paint material is selected and applied in such a way that a high resistance of the second layer S2 is achieved, which is higher than the resistance of the first layer S1. An embodiment of a masked workpiece 1 is in 3 shown.

How out 2 As can be seen, the illustrated exemplary embodiment of method 200 according to the invention for matting surfaces 3 includes, in addition to steps S100 to S120 of method 100 according to the invention for masking surfaces 3 to be matted, a step S200 in which the masked surface 3 to be matted is sprayed with a blasting agent jet abrasive material is irradiated, so that the unmasked areas to be matted 7 of the surface 3 are matted. The irradiation of the surface 3 to be matted, carried out in step S200, is carried out until a desired degree of matting is achieved. In a step S210, the first layer S1 and the second layer S2 are removed and/or peeled off the matted surface 3 after blasting with the abrasive material. Pure water or water and light chemical additives are preferably used to remove the mask.

How out 3 It can also be seen that the workpiece 1 shown in the exemplified section has a colored lacquer layer with three areas 5 not to be matted, which are masked by the method 100, and with two areas 7 to be matted, which are not masked, as the surface 3 to be matted . How out 3 It can also be seen that a second layer thickness D2 of the second layer S2 in the illustrated exemplary embodiment is at least twice as thick as a first layer thickness D1 of the first layer S1. Of course, larger or smaller factors can also be specified for the difference between the two thicknesses D1, D2. In this case, the second layer thickness D2 of the second layer S2 is applied so high that the second layer S2 is not completely removed during the blasting with the abrasive material and the underlying areas 5 of the surface 3 that are not to be matted are not matted.

In the illustrated exemplary embodiments, a water-based paint is used as the first paint material and a solvent-based paint with a higher resistance is used as the second paint material. In this case, the masking of the first layer S1 and/or the second layer S2 preferably takes place by means of a pad printing process. For this purpose, to apply the first layer S1 a first silicone pad of a multi-color pad printing system partially coated or printed with the first coating material. Subsequently, the at least one area 5 of the surface 3 that is not to be matted is coated with the second lacquer material by the silicone pad. To apply the second layer S2, a second silicone pad of the multicolor pad printing system is partially coated with the second paint material. Then the at least one area 5 of the surface 3 that is not to be matted or the applied first layer S1 is coated or printed with the second lacquer material by the second silicone pad. The pad printing process not only masks flat surfaces 3 to be matted, but also convex or concave surfaces to be matted.
