Um derartige, einseitig mit einem Klebstoff beschichtete, trägerlose Etiketten, die auch als Linerless-Etiketten bezeichnet werden, verarbeiten zu können, wird ein Abschneider bzw. ein Etikettendrucker mit einem Abschneider benötigt, mit dem die Etiketten von dem Endlosband abgetrennt werden. Hierzu ist die Transportrolle des Abschneiders in ihrer Funktion als Gegenhalter für das Schneidemesser gemäß dem Dokument
Nachteilig hierbei ist, dass das Schneidemesser sukzessive den elastomeren Belag beschädigt und die Transportrolle hierdurch verschleißt. Dies ist insbesondere deshalb von Nachteil, da die Etiketten mit ihrer klebstoffbeschichteten Seite auf der Transportrolle aufliegen. Für einen störungsfreien Transport der Endlosband-Etiketten ist es jedoch wesentlich, dass die Oberfläche der Transportrolle dem Klebstoff keine bzw. lediglich eine möglichst geringe Haftung bietet.
