Definitions

  • the invention relates to a packaging, in particular a shipping packaging, which is made of two superimposed paper layers which are glued together at least at a first side edge.
  • Paper shipping packaging is already known in a wide variety of designs in the form of shipping bags with a sealable opening.
  • the disadvantage of these shipping bags is that they are only available in standardized sizes, so that the object to be packed often does not fill the bag. If the object is heavier, it slides back and forth inside the bag and can either be damaged itself or damage the bag. To avoid these problems, filling material can be inserted into the bag together with the object, but this makes the packaging process more complex.
  • Soft items or items of different sizes that are delivered in any order can currently only be packed manually.
  • the publication GB 1 251 551 A describes a padded shipping bag made from a single layer of material. The sides of the layer of material are folded in and glued together in the middle of the packaging, overlapping. The bottom edge is then folded in and also glued. One side remains open for filling the packaging. This edge can then also be folded in and glued.
  • a packaging for hamburgers or the like which consists of a paper layer with adhesive strips or dots on three side edges. The side areas of the paper layer are folded over the hamburger and fixed with one of the adhesive strips.
  • the publication EN 20 2019 105 885 U1 describes a paper shipping bag that is closed on two, three or four sides by a seam. This packaging is produced in a packaging machine and tightly encloses an object on all sides. The seams are arranged halfway up the object.
  • the aim of the invention is to provide a paper packaging which can be adapted in size to the objects to be packaged without producing waste and which allows an automatic packaging process.
  • the wrapping or rolled edges make it relatively easy to adjust the packaging to the size of the items to be packaged.
  • Packaging that tightly encloses the item can be produced.
  • the packaging is also suitable for Automatic packaging of objects of different sizes, as the rolling or folding of the side edges can be done mechanically.
  • the paper layers can come from a paper web that is wrapped around an object to be packaged. In this case, only a first side edge needs to be glued. If the paper layers are separate, the paper layers are preferably glued on the first two opposite side edges.
  • the two paper layers are congruent, which makes it easier to fold or roll up the overlapping edges of the paper layers.
  • the paper layers are also glued together flat on the first opposite side edge(s), making the packaging relatively easy to manufacture. No folds are necessary in the paper layers.
  • the paper layers can each be made from a paper web. This is particularly advantageous if a continuous packaging process is desired.
  • the paper layers can be made from a single paper web.
  • the paper layers can be glued together at the first opposite side edges before the rolled or folded edges are made at the second side edges. If the object to be packaged is inserted between the paper webs before the first rear side edge is glued, the packaging can be be made to fit the length exactly.
  • the production of the wrapping or rolled edges preferably takes place after the object to be packaged has already been inserted between the paper layers in order to obtain a packaging that fits as precisely as possible in terms of width.
  • a reclosable adhesive strip can be arranged in the area of at least one second side edge.
  • a reclosable adhesive strip can preferably be arranged on both opposite second side edges.
  • the packaging is thus reusable.
  • the packaging can first be closed using the connection, in particular an adhesive connection.
  • the recipient of the packaging can open the packaging by releasing the connection.
  • a protective strip can then be pulled off the reclosable adhesive strip and the packaging can be closed using the reclosable adhesive strip, e.g. for return, at the previously opened second side edge.
  • the paper layers can be made from kraft paper, similar to shipping bags. However, a nonwoven made from polyethylene (Tyvek) or coated paper types can also be used to produce the paper layers.
  • Tyvek polyethylene
  • coated paper types can also be used to produce the paper layers.
  • a label, a barcode and/or a postage stamp can be applied to at least one of the paper layers.
  • the packaging is then ready for dispatch immediately.
  • the packaging can also be tracked during transport.
  • a code applied to the paper layer or to a label can be scanned at different stations during dispatch.
  • the packaging according to the invention can be produced by a method having the features of claim 10.
  • the congruent paper layers can come from a single paper web or from two paper webs. If only a single paper web is used, the object to be packaged is folded in such a way that the front edge of the paper web lies on the paper web behind the object to be packaged and can be glued there. This creates a first side edge.
  • the object to be packaged is in a paper tube.
  • Two paper webs can also be fed into the packaging machine, whereby the front edges of the paper webs in the transport direction of the paper webs are brought together and glued together.
  • the object to be packaged can then be inserted or positioned between the paper layers glued together at one point.
  • the paper webs After gluing the paper webs behind the object, the paper webs can be separated to produce an upper and lower paper layer of the packaging.
  • variable packaging sizes are possible according to the invention.
  • the packaging 10 shown is made from an upper paper layer 11 and a lower paper layer 12.
  • An object 13 is also shown inserted between the paper layers 11, 12.
  • the paper layers 11, 12 are glued together at two first, opposite side edges 14, 15.
  • the glue marks are each indicated by a double line 16.
  • the other two side edges 17, 18 are rolled up in the direction of the object 13, pressed flat and secured against accidental opening by a suitable connection, in particular adhesive connection 19.
  • a suitable connection in particular adhesive connection 19.
  • fixing by means of crimping, stapling or adhesive tape is also possible.
  • the rolled up or folded second side edges are also referred to below as folded or rolled edges 17, 18.
  • the packaging 10 lies tightly against the object 13 on all four sides.
  • a label (not shown) with a barcode and/or an address can also be stuck onto at least one of the paper layers 11, 12, or a postage stamp can be applied so that the packaging 10 is immediately ready for dispatch.
  • FIG. 2a - 2c schematically illustrate the production of packaging 10.
  • the two paper layers 11, 12 made from paper webs (not shown) have been glued together at the side edges 14, 15 halfway up the object 13, which was inserted between the paper layers 11, 12.
  • the still open side edges 17, 18 of the Fig. 2a still tubular packaging 10 are in accordance with Fig. 2b towards the object 13 and also rolled up halfway up the object 13, so that the packaging 10 also lies tightly against the object 13 at these side edges 17, 18.
  • the rolled up side edges 17, 18 are Fig. 2c flattened and secured against rolling up by means of adhesive strips or glue traces 19.
  • This manufacturing process allows the automatic packaging of objects of different or the same size in any order.
  • the side edges 14, 15 can be adjusted to the length and the rolled up side edges 17, 18 can be adjusted to the width of the objects. This does not produce any waste, as the paper layers 11, 12 do not have to be cut to size by rolling up the side edges 17, 18.
