Description
- The invention relates to a firewood splitting machine. Such a machine is known from the document
.WO 93/15886 A1 - The aim of the invention is to create a hydraulically operated single-phase firewood splitting machine, in particular for splitting of timber sections of a pre-determined length for the purpose of producing firewood, by which the efficiency should be essentially improved just by simply shortening of each repeating operational stroke and in particular without any visible reconstructions or essential additional expenses.
- Single-phase firewood splitting machines are known in the state of the art, wherein such machine comprises a splitting tool, which is furnished either with a single blade of with several blades. A splitting tool as such is disclosed in
. In such case, a timber section of a pre-determined length is split in two or more pieces by a single phase, namely during a single stroke of a splitting tool which is moved relatively to said timber section. Apparatus with a splitting tool comprising a single blade is disclosed inSI 24966 A CA 1,084,814 and is by taking in consideration its efficiency pretty inefficient and therefore also not very economic. An apparatus, which is furnished with a plurality of blades, is disclosed in , and is comparatively with the previously mentioned apparatus much more efficient, although the forces required for splitting are much higher, so that such apparatus is much more bulky and energy consuming, and is, in addition to that, also less comfortable in view of transporting thereof to each working place.PCT/CH2005/000175 - Also the so-called tandem splitting machines are known, which are furnished with two hydraulic cylinders, so that pistons with corresponding rods in both cylinders are simultaneously, but are each per and alternatively in opposite directions, and are each per se furnished with corresponding splitting tools, so that one of them is performing its operational stroke, while the other is performing a reverse stroke, or vice versa. Such machine is disclosed in
and is much more expensive and energy consuming, and also dimensions thereof are essentially larger, so that transporting of such machine from one to another working place is still more complicated.SI 21790 A - The present invention refers to a firewood splitting machine with improved efficiency of its hydraulic cylinder, which is integrated within appropriate framework and is adapted for pushing each section of a timber along a suitable guide towards a splitting tool, wherein said cylinder is also integrated within appropriate hydraulic circuit containing a hydraulic media which is suitable for controlling said hydraulic cylinder. Said cylinder comprises a tubular casing, which is on its first end portion closed by means of a head, as well as a piston, which is by means of appropriate seals inserted and sealed inside of said tubular casing and movable along it to and fro together with a rod, which protrudes outwards from said casing on the second portion thereof in the area of a guide and seals of the rod. Said cylinder is furnished with a first hydraulic connector, which is arranged in the area of said head, as well as with a second hydraulic connector, which is located on said second end portion thereof, where the rod protrudes out from it. Said hydraulic connectors are adapted to supply said hydraulic media towards the interior of the cylinder as well as for draining said hydraulic media from the interior of the cylinder, so that the first hydraulic chamber is defined in the area of said first end portion within the casing of the cylinder between said head and said piston, while the second hydraulic chamber is defined on the second end portion within the casing and extends from the piston and then along the piston rod.
- The invention provides that said first hydraulic connector in the head of the cylinder is arranged along the central axis of said head and comprises a protrusion, which extends in a direction towards the interior of the cylinder and also protrudes into said cylinder, and at least one aperture suitable for flowing the hydraulic media there-through is arranged adjacent to said protrusion. On the other hand, said piston is furnished with a non-return valve, which is arranged on its front surface, which is faced towards the head, and which is on its side, which is faced towards the head, furnished with a first opening, which is adapted to cooperate with a spring-supported shutoff member, and on its opposite side with a second opening, which is hydraulically connected with a passage, which extends throughout the piston and the rod and enables said hydraulic media to flow towards said second chamber between the rod and the casing of the cylinder.
- Whenever the piston is moved closely to the cylinder head or just adjacent to the cylinder head, then said protrusion within the first hydraulic connector on the head is located within said non-return valve, wherein the spring-supported shutoff member is in such case rest on said protrusion against the force generated by a corresponding spring, and the hydraulic media is allowed to flow from the first hydraulic chamber through said non-return valve as well as through the piston and the rod towards the second hydraulic chamber. Said shutoff member may be available as a spherical part, and said passage may comprise an axial section and at least two radial sections, which are each per se hydraulically connected with said axial section.

cylinder 1 is furnished with a firsthydraulic connector 21, which is arranged in the area of saidhead 12, as well as with a secondhydraulic connector 22, which is located on saidsecond end portion 112 thereof, where therod 14 protrudes out from it. - Said
21, 22 are adapted to supply said hydraulic media towards the interior of thehydraulic connectors cylinder 1 as well as for draining said hydraulic media from the interior of thecylinder 1, so that the firsthydraulic chamber 31 is defined in the area of saidfirst end portion 111 within thecasing 11 of thecylinder 1 between saidhead 12 and saidpiston 13, while the secondhydraulic chamber 32 is defined on thesecond end portion 112 within thecasing 11 and extends from thepiston 13 and then along thepiston rod 14. - As shown in
Figs. 3 and 4 , said firsthydraulic connector 21 in thehead 12 of thecylinder 1 is arranged along the central axis of saidhead 12 and comprises aprotrusion 210, which extends in a direction towards the interior of thecylinder 1 and also protrudes into saidcylinder 1, and at least oneaperture 211 suitable for flowing the hydraulic media there-through is arranged adjacent to saidprotrusion 210. - The
piston 13 is furnished with anon-return valve 5, which is arranged on its front surface, which is faced towards thehead 12, and which is on its side, which is faced towards thehead 12, furnished with afirst opening 51, which is adapted to cooperate with a spring-supportedshutoff member 53, and on its opposite side with asecond opening 52, which is hydraulically connected with apassage 54, which extends throughout thepiston 13 and therod 14 and enables said hydraulic media to flow towards saidsecond chamber 32 between therod 14 and thecasing 11 of thecylinder 1. - In one of both terminal positions of the
piston 13, in which the piston is located closely to thehead 12 or just adjacent to thehead 12, saidprotrusion 210 within the firsthydraulic connector 21 on thehead 12 is located within saidnon-return valve 5, the spring-supportedshutoff member 52 is in such case rest on saidprotrusion 210 against the force generated by a corresponding spring 53', by which the hydraulic media is allowed to flow from the firsthydraulic chamber 31 through saidnon-return valve 5 as well as through thepiston 13 and therod 14 towards the secondhydraulic chamber 32, which leads to essentially accelerated switching over of a hydraulic system and returning thepiston 13 into its initial position ready for starting the next operational stroke. - In the shown embodiment, said shutoff member is a spherical part i.e. a ball. In the embodiment according to
Figs. 2 - 4 saidpassage 54 is due to the rationality of its realization conceived in such manner, that it comprises an axial section and at least two radial sections, which are each per se hydraulically connected with said axial section.
