Definitions

  • the invention relates to a medical cooling pad for cooling the human skin or an injury on and / or below the skin.

  • the application of the pillow-like cooling pads on the skin is cumbersome.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a medical cooling pad that can be used even with external skin injuries.
  • the medical cooling pad for cooling the skin has a distal flexible pad carrier, on the proximal side of which a flexible cooling gel layer is applied.
  • proximal in the present case is always to be understood as the side facing the skin after the application, and “distal” to the side facing away from the skin after application.
  • Both the pad carrier and the cooling gel layer are flexible insofar as the cooling pad can thereby adapt to the spatial shape of the skin surface.
  • a cooling gel layer is understood to be any type of coating which enables passive or active cooling of the skin. Under a cooling gel layer is not necessarily a gel in the strict sense to understand, but any substance that can act cooling and has a certain strength, that is non-flowing at body temperature.
  • the cooling is understood by a, for example, in a refrigerator, pre-cooleddegel GmbH having a relatively high heat capacity. Under a passive cooling, however, the cooling is understood by incorporation of a liquid in the cooling gel layer, wherein the liquid evaporates after the application to the skin and thereby produces evaporative cold. Suitable liquids for this purpose are water and / or volatile liquids, such as, for example, menthol, methylparaben, essential oils, etc.
