Description
- The present invention relates to a machine for manufacturing filters of the tobacco processing industry. In particular, the present invention relates to a machine for manufacturing filters for smoking articles (cigarettes).
- In the field of tobacco processing industry (
Figure 14 ), it is known to produce filters by using a continuous tow A of filtering material, normally cellulose acetate, which is fed with a continuous motion through a operating station B, in the area of which the tow A is stretched so as to widen and possibly is impregnated with a hardening substance (e.g. triacetin), to a forming station C, in the area of which a substantially cylindrical shaped filter rod usually wrapped by a strip of paper is obtained. - In some cases (
Figure 15 ), a treatment device D is arranged between the operating station B, and the forming station C to further treat the filtering material before the manufacturing of the filter rod. This further treatment can comprise, according to some examples, the inclusion of carbon particles or of a longitudinal flavored strand. - The known machines for manufacturing filters are relatively rigid and do not allow, in the majority of cases, to manufacture filters of a different type. An example of cigarette filter manufacturing machine of the prior art is disclosed in
