- the connector part 100 is illustrated in a state in which the connector part 100 is mated with a second connector part 200, i.e. the connector parts 100 and 200 are in a mated state. Nevertheless, the state illustrated in figure 5 is a state that is reached directly after the first connector part 100 is mated with the second connector part 200 and the first contact 110 is not yet in engagement with the second contact 210. During mating, the pin 250 of the second connector part 200 pushes the shuttle pin 150 rearwardly in the connector housing 105 and into engagement with the piston 12.
- the piston 12 together with the damper body 20 are pushed rearwardly against the force of the first spring 11. Due to the restriction of the flow of liquid out of the chamber 30, the piston 12 remains in the extended state and does not compress the spring 31.
- the shuttle pin 150 applies a force to the piston 12 in a rearward direction, the applied force will lead to liquid flowing through the opening 32 out of the chamber 30, so that compression of the spring 31 and movement of the piston 12 into the chamber 30 starts. Nevertheless, the movement is relatively slow so that there is no significant compression of the spring 31 when the first and second connector parts 100, 200 reach the mated state.
- the piston 12 together with the damper body 20 moves rearwardly. This movement continues until the first and second connector parts 100, 200 have reached the mated state, which is shown in figures 5 .
- the compressed first spring 11 now applies a force to the damper body 20 in a forward direction. Damper body 20 is thus urged forwardly, wherein the forward movement is restricted by the volume of liquid that can leave the chamber 30 through the opening 32. Accordingly, the speed of movement of the damper body 20 in forward direction can be controlled by controlling the volume of liquid that is allowed to leave the chamber 30. As outlined above, this can be achieved by controlling for example the size and number of apertures 152, by controlling the dimensions of the flow channel, by controlling the viscosity of the liquid, by controlling the spring constant of spring 11 or the like.
- the damper body 20 is moved into a second, rearward position.
- the first contact 110 mounted to the damper body 20 is thus also moved into a second, rearward position.
- the contact 110 is spaced apart from the second contact to 210, as shown in figure 5 . Accordingly, the first and second contacts 110, 210 are not in engagement, and no connection is established.
- the first contact 110 is also moved forwardly and thus back into the first position. Accordingly, contact 110 is moved into engagement with the second contact 210. This occurs at controlled speed, since the speed of the damper body 20 is controlled as outlined above.
- the present embodiment thus allows the engagement of the first and second contacts 110, 210 at controlled speed.
- Figure 6 shows the connector part 100 of figure 5 in the mated state and in a state in which the first and second contacts 110, 210 are in engagement.

- the subsea connector with the mated first and second connector parts 100, 200 can now remain in operation for the desired amount of time. If the connector parts are de-mated again, the first connector part 100 is moved rearwardly with respect to the second connector part 200. Accordingly, the shuttle pin 150 will move forwardly and will return into its position in the de-mated state where it seals an opening in the housing 105 of the first connector part 100. As a consequence, the piston 12 is free to move again, and will be urged forwardly by the compressed spring 31. Accordingly, liquid can flow into the chamber 30 through the opening 32. Finally, the piston 11 will reach its extended state, and the connector part 100 will thus return to the state that is illustrated in figure 4 .
- embodiments of the inventions provide decoupling between the mating speed of the first and second connector parts 100, 200 and the engagement speed of the first contact 110 with the second contact 210. Since the first contact 110 is moved rearwardly during the mating process, damage to the first or second contact 110, 210 may be prevented. Furthermore, engagement of the first and second contacts 110, 210 can occur at controlled speed. It should be clear that the configuration shown in figures 1 to 6 is only exemplary, and that the same principles can be applied in other configurations of the connector part or the damper unit. As an example, the contact 110 may in other embodiments be mounted to the piston 12, or the chamber 30 may be formed between a damper body and the housing 105 or the like.

- the first contact in the first connector part is brought from a first position into a second position in which the engagement with the second contact is prevented (step 73).
- the first contact is moved rearwardly in the connector housing of the first connector part, whereby damage to the first and/or second contact may be prevented during the mating.

Thereby, a connection is established between the first contact and the second contact (step 75). Accordingly, a connection between the first contact and the second contact can be established in a reliable and controlled way.

- the performance of the internal mating process is thus managed by the damping unit.

Claims (14)
- Pièce de connecteur d'un connecteur sous-marin adaptée en vue d'être accouplée à une deuxième pièce du connecteur sous-marin, étant entendu que la pièce (100) de connecteur comprend :- au moins un premier contact (110) configuré en vue de sa solidarisation avec un deuxième contact (210) respectif de la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur afin d'établir une connexion,caractérisée en ce que la pièce (100) de connecteur comprend par ailleurs :- une unité amortisseuse (10), étant entendu qu'au moins le premier contact (110) est monté sur l'unité amortisseuse (10),
étant entendu que ladite unité amortisseuse (10) comprend un corps amortisseur (20) définissant une chambre (30) et comprend par ailleurs un piston (12) constituant une paroi de la chambre (30), étant entendu que le piston (12) est déplaçable par rapport au corps amortisseur (20) pour modifier le volume de la chambre (30), étant entendu que la chambre (30) est remplie d'un liquide et comprend une ouverture (32) par laquelle le liquide peut entrer dans la chambre (30) et s'en échapper ;
étant entendu que le premier contact (110) est monté sur le piston (12) ou le corps amortisseur (20), et
étant entendu que l'unité amortisseuse (10) est configurée en vue d'être activée par une solidarisation de la pièce (100) de connecteur avec la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur et est configurée par ailleurs en vue de retarder la solidarisation dudit premier contact (110) avec le deuxième contact (210) de la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur pendant la solidarisation de la pièce (100) de connecteur avec la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur, et
étant entendu qu'un retard dans la solidarisation du premier contact (110) avec le deuxième contact (210) résulte au moins en partie du temps requis pour expulser le liquide de l'intérieur de ladite chambre (30) par ladite ouverture (32) lors du déplacement du corps amortisseur (20) par rapport au piston (12). - Pièce de connecteur selon la revendication 1, étant entendu que l'unité amortisseuse (10) est configurée pour retarder la solidarisation du premier contact (110) avec le deuxième contact (210) de telle sorte qu'à l'instant où la pièce (100) de connecteur et la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur atteignent un état accouplé, le premier contact (110) ne soit pas encore solidarisé avec le deuxième contact (210), et étant entendu que l'unité amortisseuse (10) est configurée en vue de déplacer le premier contact (110) jusqu'à sa solidarisation avec le deuxième contact (210) après que la pièce (100) de connecteur et la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur ont atteint l'état accouplé.
- Pièce de connecteur selon la revendication 1 ou 2, étant entendu que l'unité amortisseuse (10) est configurée en vue de retarder la solidarisation dudit premier contact (110) avec le deuxième contact (210), d'une constante de temps qui est déterminée par un écoulement de fluide par ladite ouverture (32) .
- Pièce de connecteur selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, étant entendu que l'unité amortisseuse comprend un élément mobile sur lequel le premier contact (110) est monté, que l'élément mobile est déplaçable entre une première position dans laquelle le premier contact (110) se solidarise avec le deuxième contact (210) lorsque la pièce de connecteur et la deuxième pièce de connecteur sont dans l'état accouplé, et une deuxième position dans laquelle le premier contact (110) est espacé par rapport au deuxième contact (210) lorsque la pièce de connecteur et la deuxième pièce de connecteur sont dans l'état accouplé.
- Pièce de connecteur selon la revendication 4, étant entendu que, lorsque la pièce (100) de connecteur est dans un état non accouplé, l'élément mobile est situé sur la première position, et étant entendu que, pendant la solidarisation de la pièce (100) de connecteur avec la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur, l'élément mobile est déplacé jusqu'à la deuxième position.
- Pièce de connecteur selon la revendication 4 ou 5, étant entendu que le déplacement de l'élément mobile est effectué au moyen d'une force d'accouplement appliquée à la pièce de connecteur ou à la deuxième pièce de connecteur pendant l'accouplement, en particulier le déplacement depuis la première position jusqu'à la deuxième position, et/ou étant entendu que le déplacement de l'élément mobile est effectué au moyen d'une force élastique, telle que la force d'un ressort, en particulier le déplacement depuis la deuxième position jusqu'à la première position.
- Pièce de connecteur selon l'une quelconque des revendications 4-6, étant entendu que l'unité amortisseuse (10) comprend par ailleurs un ressort (11) qui est relié mécaniquement à l'élément mobile de sorte à pousser l'élément mobile jusqu'à la première position.
- Pièce de connecteur selon la revendication 7, étant entendu qu'un mouvement de l'élément mobile depuis la deuxième position jusqu'à la première position est effectué au moyen dudit ressort (11).
- Pièce de connecteur selon l'une quelconque des revendications 4-8, étant entendu que ledit élément mobile est le corps amortisseur (20).
- Pièce de connecteur selon la revendication 1, étant entendu que ladite chambre (30) comprend un ressort (31) qui applique une force au piston (12) qui pousse le piston (12) dans une direction dans laquelle le volume de la chambre (30) est augmenté.
- Pièce de connecteur selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1-6, étant entendu que la pièce (100) de connecteur comporte une extrémité avant (101) servant à sa solidarisation avec la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur et une extrémité arrière (102) sur laquelle une liaison (115) est aménagée, étant entendu que l'unité amortisseuse (10) comprend :- le corps amortisseur (20) comportant une extrémité avant et une extrémité arrière, étant entendu que le corps amortisseur (20) comprend la chambre (30) qui possède une ouverture tournée vers l'avant ;- un premier ressort (11) reposant, d'un côté, contre l'extrémité arrière du corps amortisseur (20) et, de l'autre côté, contre un logement (105) de connecteur de la pièce (100) de connecteur ;- le piston (12) agencé dans l'ouverture de la chambre (30) du corps amortisseur (20), le piston (12) se déployant vers l'avant ;- un deuxième ressort (31) agencé dans la chambre (30) et reposant, d'un côté, contre ledit piston (12) et, de l'autre côté, contre une paroi arrière (22) de la chambre (30), le deuxième ressort (31) poussant le piston (12) vers l'avant par rapport au corps amortisseur (20) ;- une ouverture (32) dans la chambre (30) permettant à un liquide d'entrer dans la chambre et de s'en échapper,étant entendu que ledit premier contact (110) est monté sur le corps amortisseur (20) et que ledit piston (12) est configuré en vue d'être accroché par une broche navette (150) de la pièce (100) de connecteur.
- Pièce de connecteur selon la revendication 11, étant entendu que le corps amortisseur (20) est un élément mobile qui possède une première position dans laquelle le premier contact (110) se solidarise avec le deuxième contact (210) lorsque la pièce de connecteur et la deuxième pièce de connecteur sont dans l'état accouplé, et une deuxième position dans laquelle le premier contact (110) est espacé par rapport au deuxième contact (210) lorsque la pièce de connecteur et la deuxième pièce de connecteur sont dans l'état accouplé,
étant entendu que l'unité amortisseuse (10) est configurée de telle sorte que, dans l'état non accouplé de la pièce (100) de connecteur, le corps amortisseur (20) soit dans la première position et les premier et deuxième ressorts (11, 31) soient dans l'état déployé, et
que, lors de la solidarisation de la pièce (100) de connecteur avec la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur, le piston (12) et le corps amortisseur (20) soient poussés en arrière, ce qui comprime le premier ressort (11) et amène le corps amortisseur (20) sur la deuxième position, moyennant quoi l'accouplement du premier contact (110) avec le deuxième contact (210) est empêché, et
qu'après que la pièce (100) de connecteur et la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur ont atteint l'état accouplé, le corps amortisseur (20) est poussé en avant par ledit premier ressort (11), ce qui expulse du liquide de l'intérieur de ladite chambre (30) par ladite ouverture (32) pour amortir le mouvement, moyennant quoi le premier contact (110) est déplacé jusqu'à sa solidarisation avec le deuxième contact (210). - Procédé de réalisation d'une connexion en environnement sous-marin au moyen d'une pièce de connecteur d'un connecteur sous-marin, étant entendu que la pièce (100) de connecteur comprend au moins un premier contact (110) configuré en vue de sa solidarisation avec un deuxième contact (210) respectif d'une deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur, étant entendu que le procédé comprend les étapes consistant :- à solidariser la première pièce (100) de connecteur avec la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur ;- à activer une unité amortisseuse (10) pendant la solidarisation, étant entendu que ladite unité amortisseuse (10) comprend un corps amortisseur (20) définissant une chambre (30) et comprend par ailleurs un piston (12) constituant une paroi de la chambre (30), étant entendu que le piston (12) est déplaçable par rapport au corps amortisseur (20) pour modifier le volume de la chambre (30), étant entendu que la chambre (30) est remplie d'un liquide et comprend une ouverture (32) par laquelle le liquide peut entrer dans la chambre (30) et s'en échapper,- étant entendu qu'au moins le premier contact (110) est monté sur l'unité amortisseuse (10), étant entendu que le premier contact (110) est monté sur le piston (12) ou sur le corps amortisseur (20) ;- à retarder la solidarisation du premier contact (110) avec le deuxième contact (210) de la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur au moyen de l'unité amortisseuse (10) pendant la solidarisation, étant entendu que le retardement de la solidarisation du premier contact (110) avec le deuxième contact (210) résulte au moins partiellement du temps requis pour expulser du liquide de l'intérieur de ladite chambre (30) par ladite ouverture (32) lors du déplacement du corps amortisseur (20) par rapport au piston (12) ;- après que la première pièce (100) de connecteur et la deuxième pièce (200) de connecteur sont dans un état accouplé, à amener le premier contact (110) à se solidariser avec le deuxième contact (210) au moyen de l'unité amortisseuse (10) pour réaliser une connexion.
- Procédé selon la revendication 13, étant entendu que l'étape d'activation de l'unité amortisseuse (10) pendant la solidarisation consiste :- à pousser le corps amortisseur (20) de l'unité amortisseuse (10) en arrière dans un logement (105) de la pièce (100) de connecteur en surmontant la résistance d'un ressort (11), ce qui déplace le premier contact (110) vers l'arrière, etétant entendu que les étapes consistant à retarder la solidarisation du premier contact (110) avec le deuxième contact (210) et à amener le premier contact à se solidariser avec le deuxième contact sont exécutées en :- déplaçant le corps amortisseur (20) doté du premier contact (110) vers l'avant au moyen de la force d'un ressort appliquée au corps amortisseur (20) par ledit ressort (11), étant entendu que l'unité amortisseuse (10) est configurée de telle sorte que le mouvement vers l'avant du corps amortisseur (20) réduit le volume de la chambre (30) remplie de liquide, ce qui entraîne l'expulsion du liquide par l'ouverture (32) de la chambre (30), moyennant quoi le mouvement du corps amortisseur (20) et, donc, la solidarisation du premier contact (110) avec le deuxième contact (210) sont retardés, et moyennant quoi le premier contact (110) est amené à se solidariser avec le deuxième contact (210).
