Figures 1 a and 2a illustrate side cut views of a buckle of the prior art; -
Figures 1b ,2b to 2c ,3a to 3c ,4a ,4b , and5a to 5c illustrate side cut views of the principle of embodiments of the invention; -
Figures 6a - 6d illustrate details of embodiments of the invention. - The invention will be explained now by reference to the figures with the following description.
-
Figure 1b illustrate in a general way all the elements of the invention in a partially cut side view. It comprises abuckle base 10 on which are mounted abelt loop lever 50 connected to thebase 10 by a spring actuatedaxis 51 which pushes thelever 50 downwards with respect to thebase 10 as illustrated infigure 1 b. - The
base 10 further comprises abelt end 6 chamber 2 (as in the prior art) to attach one end of the belt to the buckle, withbelt clip 3. - The system further comprises a
first locking lever 13 articulated on thebase 10 byaxis 12, asecond lock lever 15 articulated on thefirst locking lever 13 viaaxis 14 and abelt pin unit 40 articulated on thesecond lock lever 15 viaaxis 16. Saidpin unit 40 comprises two pins 41 (or nipples). -
Lever 15 comprises a locking mechanism 150 (for example a ball and a spring or an axis on a spring) that cooperates with anunlocking lever 130 on thelever 13 as will be explained later. - In addition,
base 10 also comprises alocking mechanism 11 that cooperates with anunlocking lever 52 of thebelt loop lever 50 for locking thelever 50 with thebase 10 and unlocking them as will be explained later. -
Figures 2b - 2c illustrate a belt with the buckle of the invention in a closed position in side partial cut views, when the belt is worn by a user, i.e. the size of the belt is the "small" one. - The end 6' of the
belt 6 is attached in thechamber 2 byclip 3, thelever 50 is locked to thebase 10 vialocking mechanism 11 and the 13 and 15 are aligned with thelevers pin 41 underneath thebase 10. In such situation, the belt is worn with the buckle and serves to its normal use. - If the wearer of the belt wishes to take away the belt or at least to increase its size, the succession of operations and movements of parts is illustrated in
figures 3a, 3b and 3c (starting fromfigure 2b/2c as an initial position). - By unlocking the
locking mechanism 150, that is by pressing on the unlocking levers 130 (one on each side of the buckle), a relative rotation of 13 and 15 is allowed vialevers axis 14. This movement is illustrated infigure 3a . This relative rotation also moves thebelt pin unit 40 to the right of the figures (comparefigures 3a and 3b ) which has the effect of opening thebelt 6, increasing its size. - Further relative rotation of the
13 and 15 brings them in the position illustrated inlevers figure 3b where they are aligned as infigure 2b , but thelever 15 has made a 180° degree rotation and thelocking mechanism 150 is now on the left side of axis 14 (in the closed position offigure 2b , thelocking mechanism 150 is on the right side of the axis 14). This 180° rotation of thelever 15 has the effect that thepin unit 40 is now on the right side of the buckle rather than on the left side (as infigure 2b/2c illustrating the closed position). The movement of thepin unit 40 is preferably guided, for example in a slit as illustrated inWO 2012/117326 or guided via rolls/wheels or any other equivalent means such that is has a longitudinal movement between the positions illustrated infigures 2b and3b . - The belt is now in
figure 3b/3c in an open position with an increased size. - To come back into the position of
figure 2b/2c , thelever 15 is pulled in rotation to effect its 180° rotation, brought in the position offigure 3a and then locked in the position offigure 2b/2c via thelocking mechanism 130. - It is therefore very easy to put the belt in two different stable positions, one tight and the other one loose as desired by the user.
-
Figure 4a shows again, a side view in partial cut, a position similar to the one offigure 1b , but with the 13 and 15 aligned in the open position oflevers figure 4a , if a wearer wishes to remove the belt. In such case, thebelt loop lever 50 is unlocked from thebase 10 by pressing on the unlocking levers 53 (preferably one on each side of the buckle) and the 40, 41 may be disengaged from the openings of the belt and the belt may then be removed as illustrated inpins figure 4b . -
Figures 5a to 5c illustrate side views of the 180° movement oflever 15 as described previously hereabove and this description applies correspondingly here. -
Figures 6a to 6d illustrate details in partial cut views of thelocking mechanism 130/150 discussed above between thelever 15 and thelever 13. This locking mechanism may comprise at 150 a cage with a spring acting against a pin or a ball which are place inlever 15.Lever 13 carries the unlockinglever 130 which is used to unlock the locking mechanism between the 13 and 15.levers - The same locking mechanism may be used between the
belt loop lever 50 and unlockinglever 52. - The examples given in the present specification are only for illustrative purposes and should not be construed in a limiting manner. Other constructions within the scope of the present invention, as defined by the claims, are possible using equivalent means.
- As mentioned, the buckle of the present invention may be used for a belt or for a strap such as a watch strap. Other uses are of course possible.
- The parts of the present invention may be made in any suitable materials: metals, alloys, precious metals or alloys, plastic materials etc.
