Definitions
- the present invention relates generally to sealing tapes, such as those used in the sanitary field when installing shower trays, bathtubs or similar built-in objects.
- a sealing tape according to the preamble of claim 1, is from EP 1 041 215 A2 known.
- the critical areas in such installation situations with regard to tightness and durability are usually the corner areas.
- this sealing tape For sealing these corner areas, a sealing tape is usually used, as is also the case on the longitudinal edges of the installation object, which is correspondingly placed or glued around the corner area.
- this sealing tape has a first adhesive or sealing surface for shielding the installation object and a second adhesive or sealing surface for a connecting wall or a floor.
- the material from which the sealing tape is made is very elastic and conformable, it straightens out - if only in an almost microscopic range - due to its elasticity from the corner edge, which is provided by a left and a right connecting wall or is formed by a connecting wall and a floor. Especially if the corner of the installation object is not very precisely fitted into the corner edge.
- the object of the present invention is to eliminate the disadvantages listed above and to provide a sealing tape which offers optimum tightness in the endangered corner areas and moreover no longer requires any adaptation work on site at the installation site.
- Another object of the invention is to provide a sealing tape which can be used for different installation situations as required.
- the solution to the problem consists first of all in the design and implementation of a sealing tape with the features of claim 1, which, in addition to the conventional strips, forms at least one area which can be folded differently and thus makes the sealing tape usable for different installation situations.
- a basic design variant of a foldable sealing tape according to the invention thus forms a left lower strip for attachment to a wall corner with a left and a right connecting wall for attachment to a left side of the installation object, a right bottom strip for attachment to a right side of the installation item, a left upper strip for attachment to the left connection wall and a right upper strip for attachment to the right connection wall.
- the foldable sealing tape in its basic embodiment variant has, in addition to the four strips described, a foldable area which from this center connects to an inner edge of the upper left strip and at the same time to an inner edge of the upper right strip.
- the foldable area is thus - if you lay out the sealing tape in two layers, folded along a folding edge that goes through the center and is approximately congruent or at least parallel to the two inner edges - a double-layer triangle.
- the entire sealing tape material can be selected to be so soft and flexible that it can be folded as desired, preferably approximately plastic.
- the fitter places or glues the two lower strips onto the installation object and then fits the upper strips into the corner by folding them.
- adhesive surfaces can be provided directly on the sealing tape or the strips are coated with an adhesive sealing slurry.
- the strips of the sealing tape from a relatively inflexible and resistant material, for example as a molded piece entirely or partially from plastic or metal, but the foldable area from a soft, approximately plastically foldable material.
- the different materials can be glued or welded together.
- the foldable area can have folds. These folds can be round or angular in cross-section, raised or not raised and produced by gluing, welding or pressing, the latter preferably supported thermally. In a preferred embodiment, however, the folds are a concave notch - continuous or interrupted - in the form of a target bending or rather target folding point. These folds thus define or improve the foldability, the sealing tape or the foldable area can, however, also be folded well without folds, in particular when selecting a material which can be folded easily and as desired.
- a foldable sealing profile it is also possible to make the folds tight, but at the same time as tear-off edges, that is to say as a desired tear point. This is done through empirical research and a corresponding selection of the material thickness of the folds. In order to avoid unnecessary overlapping of the foldable area, excess folding material can be torn off.
- the tear-off edges can preferably be re-welded or glued on site.
- Unfolding the foldable area creates a sealing tape that extends in at least three levels.
- the basic design variant can, however, also be applied only on two levels, in which case the foldable area is folded to one side.
- the area of the upper strip that is overlapped by the foldable area folded to the side has a recess.
- the material thickness of this recess is preferably chosen approximately so that, together with the double-layer material thickness of the foldable and folded-away area, it approximately results in the material thickness of the upper strips. In this way, a recessed receiving area is created for the folded-away foldable area and the sealing tape does not have such great differences in material thickness in the assembled state, which in turn can lead to leaks.
- folds described can be arranged at any one or more angles from the center. Furthermore, folds can optionally also be provided from the center between the four strips described. Of Furthermore, further folds, not only from the center, can be arranged on the four strips, for example parallel to their edges or else obliquely, for example in accordance with a desired gradient of the installation object.
- a further embodiment variant of a foldable sealing profile according to the invention not only forms three levels by unfolding the foldable area, but also four or more.
- the folding area results in a step with levels of different heights, which can be aligned parallel to one another, but also at an angle.
- a foldable sealing profile according to the invention realized in this way has adhesive surfaces on the front sides of the lower strips.
- the sealing profile on the front sides or on the rear sides or both on the front sides and also on the rear sides of the respective surfaces can have full or partial adhesive strips which are preferably equipped with removable protective strips, for example with (glossy) paper strips.
- carrier material can be the same for all surfaces of the foldable sealing profile, but can also be selected with different hardness and elasticity. Basically, it is preferably a plastic or foam film or a fabric structure that can be loose, coated, or can also be cast or woven into plastic, foam or resin. There are also mesh-like tissue structures that can be applied using a sealing slurry.
- the carrier material can also consist of a Kevlar, a carbon fiber fabric or metal.
- the foldable sealing profile or a sealing lip of the foldable sealing profile can furthermore be arranged by means of a bead, preferably arranged on the lower strips a groove of the installation object or be cast into one.
- a foldable sealing profile according to the invention can have a corner compensation profile on any corner edges that it forms, as was first described in an application by the same applicant on July 9, 2010 in the Austrian utility model AT GM 437/2010, converted into an Austrian patent AT A 8017/2011 , has been disclosed.
- a foldable sealing profile according to the invention can, instead of corner edges, form partially or exclusively rounded edges between its surfaces, which correspond to a specific rounding of an item of installation or a corresponding installation situation.
- the surfaces themselves can have roundings or bulges, as well as an integrally cast corner compensation profile or any shape of compensation profile. All of these shapes are preferably thermally formed and are furthermore preferably thermally and / or plastically deformable and adaptable on site at the installation site.
- a foldable sealing profile according to the invention can have a cut protection that is fully or even only partially glued on, or a cut protection that is cast over the whole or only partially in the carrier material.
- Such cut protection is also in a further application by the same applicant for the first time on July 9, 2010 in the Austrian utility model AT GM 438/2010, converted into an Austrian patent AT A 8018/2011 , has been disclosed and can be, for example, a thin metal foil, a resistant, cut-resistant fabric (for example Cordura®, Kevlar or carbon) or a corresponding grid.
- the carrier material can furthermore have a sandwich structure, which can cover the entire surface or only partially is realized.
- Another object of the invention is to provide a prefabricated, foldable sealing profile for typical, recurring and identical or similar installation situations. Left, right or mirrored design variants come into consideration. Or, if necessary, a foldable sealing profile according to the invention can be individually manufactured according to customer requirements. In principle, all conceivable dimensions can be realized, for example by molding, gluing or welding.
- a foldable sealing profile according to the invention can be formed as a corner profile, to which sealing tapes can preferably not be attached (the overall material thickness does not increase), or the foldable sealing profile forms a complete, one-piece sealing profile frame.
- the surfaces or strips of a foldable sealing profile according to the invention can be freely designed in terms of their shape in the respective plane. They can be square, rectangular, triangular, trapezoidal or diamond-shaped or else circular, semicircular or oval.
- the dimensions of individual surfaces can be tapered or tapered so that the foldable sealing profile adapts to a desired slope of the underbody and / or the installation object.
- One embodiment variant of a foldable sealing profile according to the invention has a preferably flexible sealing lip which is connected to one of the surfaces of the foldable sealing profile and serves to underlay or overlap a specific installation area.
- Another design variant of a foldable sealing profile according to the invention has surfaces which serve as protective strips or as an assembly aid and can be torn off along a perforation after assembly.
- That section of such a surface that has such a perforation and remains after tearing off can also be designed as a joint backfill profile.
- a joint backfill profile facilitates the application of a final silicone sealing joint and is, for example, in the European patent EP 0 748 179 B1 shown, which was also registered on December 23, 1995 by the same applicant.
- a joint backfill profile is provided on any surface of a foldable sealing profile according to the invention, without perforation.
- the adhesive surfaces are preferably lined with a soundproofing strip made of sound-absorbing material.
- a similarly good soundproofing effect can optionally also be achieved in that the adhesive has a viscous consistency on the adhesive surfaces, which results in a layer that is approximately one to several millimeters thick.
- a foldable sealing profile according to the invention can optionally be equipped with one or more capillary protection strips on any surface.
- the process steps a) and e) can also be interchanged, i.e. the foldable sealing profile can also be placed or glued to the corners of the installation item first, then placed together with the installation item in the corner, only to then remove the upper strips and attach the foldable area to the connecting walls.
- the disclosed different design variants of a foldable sealing profile according to the invention can be combined with one another.
- the design variants without folds can be combined with those with folds
- the design variant in which the entire backing material is of the same hardness can be combined with the design variant in which the fold areas or parts thereof are of different hardness.
- a foldable sealing profile according to the invention can have a hard, rigid part and a softer, more flexible part.
- the previously mentioned design variants can be combined with those made of different materials.
- the design variants in which all surfaces are designed flexibly can be combined with those in which one or more flexible adhesive surfaces are arranged on a fixed profile.
- All of the above-mentioned design variants can in turn be combined individually and reciprocally with the design variant in which a separate corner compensation profile is arranged, and with the configuration variant in which the surfaces themselves form a corner compensation profile or bulges. All of these design variants can in turn be combined with the cut protection design variants, and also reciprocally with those design variants which have a perforation or a joint backfill profile.
- a first and simplest basic design variant of a foldable sealing profile 100 according to the invention is shown schematically and in perspective in the unmounted and unfolded state.
- the foldable sealing profile 100 is prepared to be used in a corner 1, which is formed from a left connecting wall 300a, a right connecting wall 300b and a floor 400.
- the foldable sealing profile 100 can also only be used in a corner edge 2, which is formed only from the left connecting wall 300a and the right connecting wall 300b.
- the foldable sealing profile 100 comprises a lower left strip 3, which has an adhesive surface 5 on a front side 4. In the assembled state of the foldable sealing profile 100, this adhesive surface 5 sticks to a left-hand flange 18a of the installation object 200. Furthermore, the foldable sealing profile 100 has a lower right strip 6, which likewise has an adhesive surface 8 on a front side 7. In the assembled state of the foldable sealing profile 100, this adhesive surface 8 sticks to a right-hand projection 18b of the installation object 200.
- the lower left strip 3 and the lower right strip 6 are connected by means of a fold 9, which is preferably concave.
- a left upper strip 10 adjoins the lower left strip 3, which preferably has an adhesive surface 12 on a rear side 11.
- the foldable sealing profile 100 is glued to the left connecting wall 300a in the assembled state.
- the lower left strip 3 and the upper left strip 10 are connected by means of a fold 16, which is preferably also concave.
- a right upper strip 13 adjoins the right lower strip 6 by means of a fold 17, which preferably has an adhesive surface 15 on a rear side 14.
- this adhesive surface 15 the foldable sealing profile 100 is glued to the right connecting wall 300b in the assembled state.
- the foldable sealing profile 100 further comprises a fold area 500 which would result in a double-layer triangle in a developed, flat state.
- the fold area 500 is defined by folds 19a-19c, which are preferably also concave.
- the folds 16, 17 and 19a-19c meet in a center 20 and produce desired folding points at which the foldable sealing profile 100 can be folded more easily - quasi predefined -, preferably approximately plastically, while at the same time ensuring tightness.
- the Fig. 2 shows in a schematic and perspective representation the foldable sealing profile 100 from the Fig. 1 in a first folding position, in which the lower left strip 3 and the lower right strip 6 are arranged at an angle W 1 which is approximately 90 degrees.
- the lower strip 3 lies in a plane E 1 and the lower right strip 6 in a plane E 2 , the planes E 1 and E 2 consequently likewise being approximately at right angles to one another.
- the left upper strip 10 lies in the extension of the left lower strip 3 also in the plane E 1 and the right upper strip 13 in the extension of the right lower strip 6 in the plane E 2 .
- the folding area 500 is folded away in the plane E 2 into a folding position P 1 .

- the lower left strip 3a and the lower right strip 6a are connected by a fold 9a and are at an angle W 1 ', which is approximately right.
- the lower left strip 3a and the lower right strip 6a thus each lie in a plane E 1 'and a plane E 2 ', which are also arranged approximately at right angles to one another.
- a left upper strip 10a is arranged, connected to a fold 16a and having a rear side 11a on which one Adhesive surface 12a is arranged.
- a fold 17a connects there to a right upper strip 13a, which likewise has a rear side 14a and an adhesive surface 15a arranged thereon.
- the foldable sealing profile 100a furthermore has a fold area 500a which is folded away into the plane E 1 'into a fold position P 2 .
- the foldable sealing profile 100a each has a recess 21a and 21b, so that the folding area 500a - depending on whether it is folded away as shown in the plane E 1 'or in the plane E 2 ' - a total thickness D of the foldable sealing profile 100a not significantly increased.
- the Fig. 4 shows the foldable sealing profile 100 from FIGS Figures 1 and 2nd with the folding area 500 in a folding position P 3 .
- the fold area 500 is now also in the plane E 1 , but in an extension of the upper left strip 10 and the upper right strip 13 for this purpose at an approximately right angle W 3 .
- the foldable sealing profile 100 thus extends by means of this fold position P 3 not only in the levels E 1 and E 2 , but also in a third level E 3 .
- FIG. 5 is the schematic and perspective of the foldable sealing profile 100 from the Figures 1 , 2nd and 4th shown, but this time with the folding area 500 in a folding position P 4 , in an extension of the upper right strip 13.
- the lower left strip 3 thus still lies in the plane E 1 , the lower right strip 6, the upper right strip 13 and the fold area 500 in the plane E 2 and the top left strip 10 in an approximately horizontal plane E 3 '.
- the Fig. 6 shows schematically and in perspective again the foldable sealing profile 100 from the Figures 1 , 2nd , 4th and 5 , this time, however, with the folding area 500 in a folding position P 5 , which causes the lower left strip 3 to remain in the plane E 1 , the lower right strip 6 still in the plane E 2 , but both top left strip 10, as well as the fold area 500 and also the top right strip 13 in the plane E 3 .
- FIG. 7 A further embodiment variant of a foldable sealing profile 100b according to the invention is shown schematically and in perspective. This is characterized in that two further folds 22a and 22b are added to folds 9b, 16b, 17b and 19a "-19c" previously disclosed analogously.
- a further fold area 500c is in a fold position P 6 defined and thus a left upper strip 10b, but also a left lower strip 3b can assume two different folding positions P 7 and P 8 , the folding position P 7 being shown and the folding position P 8 Fig. 6 would correspond.
- the foldable sealing profile 100b has a right lower strip 6b, a right upper strip 13b, and a center 20b, in which the folds 9b, 16b, 17b and 19a "-19c" converge.
- the overlap that results in the area of the fold 9b can also be arranged in reverse, i.e. that the lower left strip 3b does not overlap the lower right strip 6b, as shown, but the lower right strip 6b the lower left strip 3b.
- the Fig. 8 shows a schematic and perspective illustration of a foldable sealing profile 100c, which is the basic embodiment variant 100 from FIG Fig. 1 corresponds, but is supplemented with a separate corner compensation profile 23.
- the foldable sealing profile 100c has a left lower strip 3c with an adjacent left upper strip 10c, as well as a right lower strip 6c and an adjacent right upper strip 13c.
- the corner compensation profile 23 is preferably glued to the left lower strip 3c with a left rear side 24a and to the right lower strip 6c with a right rear side 24b.
- the corner compensation profile 23 also has a front side 25, which is rounded and is preferably itself designed as an adhesive surface.
- the corner compensation profile 23 can extend over the entire height of the lower strips 3c and 6c, but also only over one Part.
- FIG. 9 is a schematic and perspective view of a further embodiment variant of a foldable sealing profile 100d according to the invention, which, as previously, also essentially comprises a lower left strip 3d with an adjacent upper left strip 10d, and a lower right strip 6d with an adjacent upper right strip 13d.
- a fold area 500d is also arranged between the left upper strip 10d and the right upper strip 13d as previously disclosed.
- the foldable sealing profile 100d is characterized in that, for example, cut protection 26 in the preferred form of a thin metal foil, a resistant, cut-resistant fabric or grid is glued or preferably to the proximal halves of the respective lower strips 3d and 6d, and the upper strips 10d and 13d is poured in.
