Definitions
- the present invention relates to the field of paper handling, in particular to a filling station for filling an envelope, to a paper handling system and to a method for filling an envelope in a filling station.
- the US 7,475,522 B2 shows a filling station with direct feeding of the envelopes from above.
- An envelope moves from the envelope feeder coming against a stop, is taken up by two worm wheels, separated and introduced vertically into the fill level.
- the stopper is opened and the envelope is transported out of the filling station.
- the EP 1 275 523 A describes an approach for introducing a material into an envelope, wherein the envelopes fed from above, separated by worm wheels and fed by the movement of the worm wheels of the filling station.
- the EP 1 473 173 A describes an inserter in which the envelopes are fed to the filling station from below. The feed is made by worm wheels, which are subsequently released to the envelope filling for the envelope output.
- the filling stations for inserting machines described above have short paths in the feeding of the envelopes to the filling station. In order to transport a subsequent envelope into the filling station, it is only necessary to bridge a movement path which substantially corresponds to the thickness of the envelope or the distance of a flight. Already during the removal of the filled envelope, the next envelope for the envelope opening is available. The avoidance of large paths and the associated long dead times makes it possible that the supply of envelopes to the filling station does not have to have high speeds, but can be worked at low speeds. These approaches are therefore suitable for high clock rates.
- the US 7,475,522 B2 relates to an embodiment of a filling station in which the clock power can be 30,000 envelopes / h. Due to the short travel distances and the low speeds, a compact design of the system is also possible.
- the opening of the envelope and the keeping open of the envelope is carried out according to the above-described three solutions exclusively by blowing air.
- this is only conditionally reliable, since on the one hand even small adhesions of the envelope on the inside make the opening of the envelope only by blowing air considerably more difficult, and on the other hand, the holding open of the envelope exclusively on blowing a partial or complete "blowing out" of the contents of the Effect envelope.
- the WO 2010/027521 A1 relates to a filling station according to the preamble of claim 1, and a method for filling an envelope according to the preamble of claim 12.
- the EP 0 671 286 A1 relates to a unit for processing an envelope, which are withdrawn from the envelopes of a magazine and moved by means of an envelope transport chain to an area at which a filling of the envelope is to take place by means of a good.
- Grippers are provided along the chain which grip the bottom of the envelope and move the envelope.
- the envelope is received by the magazine, at a second position its tab is opened, at a third position, an opening of the envelope body by means of the nipple, so that a good can retract, and at a fourth position is filled Ejected envelope.
- the US 4,020,615 A shows an inserting system in which an envelope of a support is provided, and is moved from there by means of a transport in the direction of a filling station.
- the open flap of the envelope is held in place by means of a mechanism and U-shaped fingers are inserted into the envelope, so as to introduce a good.
- the present invention has the object to provide an improved approach to the introduction of goods in an envelope, which prevents the disadvantages described above, recognized in the prior art.
- the present invention further provides a paper handling system having one or more paper handling components, such as a cutter, a merger, a gathering station, a folder, and / or a gathering path with one or more shim feeder (s) to provide a filling material and having a filling station according to Embodiments of the invention, wherein a controller is further provided, which is operative to control the paper handling component and the filling station.

- the tab 126b is disposed below the sheet 101 and clamped by the roller 125, for example.
- An envelope bottom 126c is released, ie it is not deflected downwards relative to the rest of the envelope.
- By releasing the envelope bottom returns due to the elasticity of the envelope in its original orientation, so that the envelope is substantially flat in a plane.
- the filling material is introduced into the opened envelope 126.
- a second, unfilled envelope 128 is shown, which is located in the envelope feeder 104.
- the mouth opening 128a of the second envelope rests on the portion 104a and is located at the position 108 immediately before the ends 100a of the filling aid 100, so that upon movement of the envelope 128 opposite to the Guttransport therapies R G whose mouth opening directly with the ends 110a engage the filling aid.
- This arrangement requires only the bridging of a short distance to raise the envelope on the filling aid and thus little time.
- the tab 128b rests on the tab support 104c and the envelope bottom 128c is held in the region 104b of the envelope feeder and deflected downwards.
- a movement of the envelope feeder 104 takes place Envelopes 128 against the Guttransportraum R G to raise the envelope on the filling aid 100.
- the movement is effected by means of the segment rollers 110 such that at least a part of the envelope is mounted on the filling aid 100, so that they can engage in the mouth opening 128a of the envelope 128 to open them, so that a filling 122 in the now in the filling position located envelope 128 can bring.
- the functionality of the basis of the Fig. 1 described filling station is such that a feed of an envelope withdrawn from an envelope insert takes place from the side, wherein an envelope window, if present, and the envelope flap 128b are down, and the mouth opening 128a facing upward.
- the envelopes are transported with open tab, for example via the suction belt 106 from below into the filling station and positioned there.
- the envelope 128 is received during transport into the filling station on the bottom side in a guide and oriented on the bottom of the envelope 128c outside the fill level.
- a lateral positioning of the envelope can be done for example via stops, edges or traps or directly through the Saugriementransport 106.
- the inserted so into the filling station envelope 128 is taken after positioning by the cylinder segment rollers 100a, 110b, depending on the maximum envelope flap of one or more cylinder segment rollers 100a, 110b on the envelope flap 128b and a predetermined distance in the direction of the filling material (opposite the Guttransport therapies R G ) and mounted on the filling aid 100 and an optionally existing lateral Gut arrangement.
- the envelope bottom 128c is released and transported completely into the filling area of the filling station.
- the Saugriementransport 106 is deactivated, and instead of the Saugriementransports alternatively a segment transport with active and non-active areas can be provided.
- the envelope Once the envelope has reached its end position, it can be fixed by, for example, by the roller 125, attached by bottom of the envelope guide suction strips and / or mounted on the side Gut Replacementen suction during envelope filling.
- the envelope filling takes place by means of the filling slide 124, which conveys the filling material 122 into the opened envelope.
- the envelope fixing is released and the envelope can be removed from the filling station, for example via the filling slides.
- suitable means such as blowing air, chamfers, edges or traps damage to the envelope at the inlet are prevented.
- a collision with the transport elements of the filling station is avoided in that the transport elements are designed as cylinder segment rollers that do not hinder the entry of the tab of the new envelope.
- a maximum of two envelopes are positioned one below the other.
- the parallel connection of the processes just described, namely the filling / removal and the feeding of a new envelope, makes it possible to have another envelope immediately after the filling and before the completion of the removal of the filled envelope, whereby high performance is achieved.
- the inventive approach is advantageous because the envelope height has no effect on the feed rate.
- the envelope height is the dimension of the envelope from the envelope bottom to the edge where the flap of the envelope is attached to the envelope body, the so-called hinge line. This independence from the envelope height is achieved by the fact that the transport of the envelope always takes place at the height of the hinge line.
- the position of the hinge line of the inserted envelope is position 108.
- the following functional sequence is shown below for the following conditions:
- the envelope is fed from the side, with the supply being clocked and the envelopes having a predetermined distance.
- the windows of the envelopes are directed downwards, and two envelopes among themselves are arranged in the filling station at the same time.
- An envelope is drawn onto the filling aid a predetermined distance, dispensing with a sucker for an envelope opening.
- a functionality is assumed in which a next envelope is retracted only when the preceding envelope has reached the filling position, and a filled envelope is dispensed when the new envelope is fully retracted so that movement overlaps are avoided ,
- a lateral view is shown in the upper area, and in the lower area a plan view.
- the filled envelope 126 which contains the contents 122, as far removed and from the filling aid 100, that the lower envelope 128 can be opened and opened, wherein the bottom of the filling station envelope 128 with a movement by a predetermined, fixed distance the good starts.
- a lateral view is shown in the upper area, and in the lower area a plan view.
- the filled envelope 126 which contains the contents 122, as far removed and from the
- FIG. 2 another envelope 130 is shown, which is ready for delivery to the filling station, wherein laterally incoming envelopes have a predetermined distance.
- Fig. 2 further shown is an already filled envelope 132 located downstream of the filling station. Upstream with respect to the filling station, two product groups 134a and 134b to be enveloped are shown, wherein the product group 134a is to be introduced into the envelope 128 and the product group 134b into the envelope 130.
- the wrapping of the envelope 128 on the filling aids 100 is started, wherein the filled envelope 128 has already moved on.
- the start of drawing up of the new envelope 128 on the filling aid 100 already begins before the filled envelope 126 has completely moved out of the filling station, ie during the winding of the new envelope on filling aid 100, both envelopes are arranged one above the other in the filling station, which is advantageous. since there is no need to wait for the envelope 126 to fully extend, rather an envelope may already be provided for the next fill as the filled envelope 126 is extended, thereby increasing the throughput results.
- the envelopes 128 and 130 are arranged with their Hinge Line HL still at the position 108 immediately in front of the filling aid.
- the filled envelope 126 has been removed a further distance in the good transport direction R G , while the new envelope 128 has already been moved in the direction of the filling aids 100 so that its hinge line HL 128 is in a position in the good transport direction R G in front of the position 108, whereas the position of the hinge line HL 130 of the new envelope 130 to be fed is unchanged at the position 108.
- the contents 134a which is to be introduced into the envelope 128, moved in the direction of the filling station, and has in Fig. 4 the side guides 118 almost reached.
- the new envelope 128 has now been drawn onto the filling aid 100 by the predetermined distance, and the filling material 134a has reached the guides 118.
- the envelope 126 filled in the previous cycle has now left the filling station or left the region 104c of the envelope feeder 104 behind.
- the new to be filled envelope 128 is now mounted on the filling aid 100 in the described embodiment and stands still.
- the filling process starts by inserting the group of contents 124a into the envelope 128. During this filling process, while the envelope 128 is stationary, the envelope 130 is moved into the filling station.
- the envelope 126 filled in the previous cycle has now left the filling station or left the region 104c of the envelope feeder 104 behind.
- the new to be filled envelope 128 is now mounted on the filling aid 100 in the described embodiment and stands still.
- the situation is shown in which the envelope 130 has already been introduced to a small extent in the direction of the envelope transport direction R K in the filling station, as shown by the overlapping region of the envelopes 128 and 130.
- the envelope 130 is moved with its hinge line HL 130 aligned to the position 108, so that the envelope 130 is retracted outside of the filling area.
- Figs. 7 to 13 show the position in the elements described above after t 5 , t 6 , t 7 , t 8 , t 9 , t 10 and t 11 .
- the filling of the envelope 128 is shown by introducing the Greinsky 134a, while at the same time the envelope 130 is inserted into the envelope feeder, so that finally the in Fig. 14 shown situation, which in turn corresponds to the starting position, based on the Fig. 2 has been explained, namely the situation in which the envelope 128 is filled and already another envelope 130 ready for receiving the further Gregutmaschine 134b.
- the process described above for filling the envelope 130 and for simultaneously providing another envelope is repeated.
- a subsequent envelope 130 is retracted only when the previous envelope 128 is mounted on the filling aid 100 in order to avoid movement overlaps in two directions, that is to say in the direction of the goods transport and in the direction of the envelope transport.
- the filled envelope 128 is dispensed only when the subsequent envelope 130 is fully retracted as shown in FIG Fig. 14 is shown in order to avoid movement overlaps in the two directions, namely the Abtransport therapies and the Envelope feed direction.
- Embodiments of the invention use this approach to facilitate process control, but it should be understood that the present invention is not limited to this embodiment.
- two-way motion overlap may be allowed, such that the subsequent envelope is retracted while the previous envelope is being loaded onto the filling aid and / or the filled envelope is dispensed while the subsequent envelope is retracted.
- the filling aids are preferably displaceable in the format area and are designed so that no gaps or edges form, against which the incoming envelope flap can abut or hang.
- FIG. 12 shows a schematic of a paper handling installation 200 including an inserter 202 having a filling station 204 in accordance with embodiments of the present invention.
- the paper handling equipment 200 may include one or more input channels, wherein Fig. 15 By way of example only one input channel 206 is shown.
- the input channel includes various paper handling components, such as a tailor, a merger, a gathering station, a folder, and / or a gathering path with one or more shim feeder (s).
- the system 200 comprises at least one output channel 208 for further processing of the enveloped goods, for example a franking unit or a sorting unit.
- a controller 210 which controls the components in the input channel 206, the output channel 208 and the inserter 202 as well as the filling station 204.
- Fig. 15 1 shows a central controller 210, embodiments of the invention are not limited to such a configuration, but the controller may also be arranged decentrally in each of the components, and the corresponding drive signals for the follower components are transmitted between the components.

Description
The present invention relates to the field of paper handling, in particular to a filling station for filling an envelope, to a paper handling system and to a method for filling an envelope in a filling station.
Furthermore, the three approaches described above, in which an envelope filling takes place in an envelope with an upper flap or with a lower mouth opening, require more effort to prevent a collision of the incoming material at the mouth opening and thereby considerably restricts the format and shape flexibility , Furthermore, all solutions described above show approaches without side guides or without clamping the envelope during the filling process, which significantly reduces process reliability and lowers the filling limit downwards. Furthermore, the structure and operation is complicated due to the worm wheels used.
According to further embodiments, the filling station comprises a further transport, which is configured to supply an envelope to the envelope feeder, wherein the further transport may be configured to supply an envelope in Guttransportrichtung, perpendicular to the Guttransportrichtung or against the Guttransportrichtung to the envelope feeder. Further, the further transport may be configured to accommodate a plurality of envelopes scaled. According to embodiments, the further transport comprises a suction belt transport, which is deactivated while an envelope is being moved from the envelope feeder to the filling aid, and which is activated during an envelope filling. The suction conveyor may be configured to place the envelope in the envelope feed outside the fill area. According to further embodiments, the filling station comprises at least one filling slide in order to introduce a filling material into the envelope wound on the filling aid, wherein the filling slide can also be provided to extend a filled envelope from the filling station.
According to further embodiments of the invention, the filling station is configured to receive a product to be moved in a first direction and to receive an envelope received from a second direction opposite to the first direction. The envelope feeder is configured to receive an envelope from a third direction, such as a direction perpendicular to the first direction.
The envelope feeder may include a sheet, a wedge, a movable separation aid, one or more fingers, or a guide to keep the envelope bottom deflected downwardly from the remainder of the envelope.
The filling aid may comprise a guide, one or more fingers, a sheet metal or a pannier.
The filling station may additionally comprise at least one further element which opens an envelope for filling and / or holds open during filling, and further means may be provided for opening a mouth of the envelope before mounting on the filling aid, i. separating the bottom of the envelope from the top of the envelope, for example by means of one or more fingers or by means of blowing air provided by one or more blowing nozzles.
The further transport for feeding an envelope to the envelope feeder can also be realized in the form of a clamp transport, a finger transport or a roller transport.
The filling station may further comprise at least one device in order to avoid an exchange direction between an envelope when entering the envelope feeder and an envelope during transport to the filling aid. Furthermore, a device may be provided for fixing the envelope to a filling position, for example using one or more segmented rolls, one or more suction cups / suction cups acting on the envelope flap from above or below, one or more pliers, one or more pliers a plurality of lateral guide rail (s) and / or an acting from above on the envelope body teat. The nipple can be designed as a suction or suction plate.
Embodiments of the invention thus provide a new approach for filling envelopes with high cycle performance in a wide range of formats, in particular the advantages of the known solutions have been maintained, while their disadvantages have been eliminated. According to embodiments of the invention, the envelope is transported to the goods "opposite" and mounted on the filling aid, wherein simultaneously at least two envelopes are present in operation, one in the filling area and another in the envelope feeder. In these positions, the envelopes are arranged in a plan view at least partially overlapping. Furthermore, filling aids are used to secure the filling process. Active elements such as screws or transport wheels used by the known solutions are replaced by passive elements or alternative embodiments, for example a passive element is used instead of the worm / transport wheels for separating the at least two envelopes in the filling station, e.g. an element in the form of a slope, a holder or an edge or the like.
According to further embodiments of the invention, an envelope feed takes place such that a window of an envelope faces downwards, so that the guide for the filling material, e.g. the adaptation to the mouth opening shape, easier to realize. Furthermore, the envelopes to be filled are arranged one above the other, which means that after the removal of the filled envelope, the next envelope is already ready.
An advantage of the solution according to the invention is that an inserting machine is provided which has a high cycle performance, can process a large range of formats, has a small number of required structural and functional parts, has a compact installation space or a small enclosed space, low running distances of envelopes and contents, and does not show any performance penalty as the envelope's envelope height increases.
An advantage of embodiments of the invention is that the windows and the flap of the envelope are arranged lying down, so that the associated problems, as explained above in the prior art, are no longer present. Furthermore, results in a compact size of the filling station, which has only low filling speeds and low cycle times and concomitant high clock rates. Furthermore, the filling station is characterized by a small number of components, and in that the feed rate of the envelopes is independent of the envelope height.

In the following description of the embodiments, identical or equivalent elements are provided with the same reference numerals.
The filling station further comprises an
The
The filling station further comprises a
The filling station further includes a
A filling 122 is moved by means of a filling
Furthermore, the filling station comprises a

The inserted so into the filling
Once the envelope has reached its end position, it can be fixed by, for example, by the
While the first envelope in the filling station is gripped by the segment rollers and drawn onto the filling aids, a second envelope is transported below the first envelope into the filling station. By suitable means, such as blowing air, chamfers, edges or traps damage to the envelope at the inlet are prevented. A collision with the transport elements of the filling station is avoided in that the transport elements are designed as cylinder segment rollers that do not hinder the entry of the tab of the new envelope. In the filling station, preferably a maximum of two envelopes are positioned one below the other.
In
With reference to the following Figs. a description is given of a functional sequence for filling an envelope using the filling station according to the invention. The following functional sequence is shown below for the following conditions: The envelope is fed from the side, with the supply being clocked and the envelopes having a predetermined distance. The windows of the envelopes are directed downwards, and two envelopes among themselves are arranged in the filling station at the same time. An envelope is drawn onto the filling aid a predetermined distance, dispensing with a sucker for an envelope opening. In the following description, a functionality is assumed in which a next envelope is retracted only when the preceding envelope has reached the filling position, and a filled envelope is dispensed when the new envelope is fully retracted so that movement overlaps are avoided ,
