Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a method for producing an electrical connector with a cable.
  • Electrical conductors used for information transmission often have a shielding, which is designed, for example, as a wire mesh which extends coaxially around the conductor.
  • the shielding serves to protect against electromagnetic radiation and reduces the susceptibility to errors of information transmission along the transmission path.
  • the shielding must run continuously from the transmitter to the conductor to the receiver.
  • electrical connectors are therefore required which ensure continuous shielding.
  • a generic connector is from the EP 2 109 194 A2 known.
  • the structure of this connector is to be further optimized.
  • the state of the art is also the WO 98/28822 A1 called, which discloses a connector with cable, wherein during the manufacture of this arrangement, the cable jacket is cut and a piece of the cable jacket is partially removed from the conductor screen, so that a window is formed in which the shielding of the cable is exposed.
  • a connector with a cable is disclosed, the cable jacket being cut during the manufacture of this arrangement and a piece of the cable jacket being pulled off axially so that a window is created.
  • a non-conductive sleeve is then formed with a recess in the area of this window, into which a conductive material is then injected.
  • the object of the invention is to provide an easy to carry out and inexpensive method for producing an electrical connector.
  • the method is characterized in that the cable jacket is cut in, that a piece of the cable jacket is partially pulled off the conductor shield and not removed from the conductor shield, and that the sealing diameter of the carrier is defined and round and corresponds to the cable jacket diameter.
  • the production of the first sleeve part in the injection molding process has the advantage that the first sleeve part lies directly against the components adjacent to it during injection molding. Even spaces between the components are at least partially filled by the first sleeve part in the injection molding process.
  • the first sleeve part not only provides the electrical connector with very good stability, at least in the area overmolded by it, but also reduces or prevents, at least in this area, a relative movement of the components to one another. Therefore, even in a strongly vibrating environment, the risk of the shield becoming detached due to the relative movement of the components with respect to one another and then no longer being adequately or even not being ensured at all is therefore reduced.
  • the sleeve can be produced very inexpensively in the injection molding process.
  • At least the part of the sleeve which is in contact with the conductor shield is injection molded. This ensures that the sleeve contacts the conductor shield securely.
  • sleeve material at least partially penetrates into spaces between the wire mesh during the manufacture of the sleeve, so that the connection between the sleeve and the conductor shield is ensured very firmly and also under vibrations.
  • the second sleeve part is a metal sleeve.
  • the metal sleeve is then arranged between the housing shield and the first sleeve part and electrically connects them to one another.
  • the conductor shield and the housing shield are connected to one another by means of the metal sleeve and the injection-molded first sleeve part.
  • the metal sleeve preferably has a contact part with which it contacts the housing shield.
  • the housing shield likewise preferably has a mating contact part which corresponds to the contact part and with which it contacts the metal sleeve.
  • the contact part and the counter-contact part are designed, for example, as mutually corresponding collars which engage in one another in such a way that the contact between the housing shield and the metal sleeve is ensured even under vibrations.
  • the housing shield is preferably designed as a housing nut. In this embodiment, it can be very easily coupled to a corresponding electrical connector by screwing on.
  • the electrical connector is preferably provided as a plug and the corresponding electrical connector as a socket, or vice versa.
  • the cable comprises at least one electrical conductor, which is at least partially arranged in the housing.
  • the cable preferably comprises a plurality of electrical conductors, the conductor shield shielding at least one or more, in particular all, conductors.
  • the conductor or conductors are preferably electrically insulated, for example by an electrically insulating sheath, in particular made of a plastic.
  • the cable has an electrically insulating cable sheath, in particular made of a plastic.
  • the electrical connector has at least one conductor connection for connecting the electrical conductor.
  • the electrical connector also preferably has one, optionally but not necessarily Electronics, which is connected to the electrical conductor, for example a filter or a resistor.
  • the housing preferably extends in an extension direction, the first sleeve part and / or the second sleeve part being arranged essentially coaxially around the extension direction.
  • the sleeve, the conductor shield and the housing shield are preferably completely closed around the direction of extension.
  • the second sleeve part is preferably arranged at least partially on the housing. The second sleeve part and the housing screen therefore preferably enclose a part of the housing in the direction of extension.
  • the electrical connector comprises an electrically insulating carrier which carries at least the first sleeve part.
  • the carrier carries the second sleeve part at least partially.
  • the carrier is preferably arranged coaxially around the electrical conductor or conductors and insulates them from the sleeve.
  • the carrier is arranged between the cable and the housing.
  • the carrier likewise preferably extends from the conductor shield to the housing and, if appropriate, at least partially into it. It is arranged in particular against the housing and the cable.
  • the carrier is injection molded. This enables it to flow in spaces between a plurality of electrical conductors, between the housing and the electrical conductor or conductors, and / or between the conductor shield and / or possibly a cable jacket and the electrical conductor or conductors during its manufacture.
  • the carrier therefore preferably encases the electrical conductor or conductors. It also preferably insulates the connection of the electrical conductor or conductors with the conductor connections of the electrical connector from the sleeve.
  • the carrier therefore also stabilizes the electrical connector and prevents the relative movement of the components adjacent to it or to one another.
  • the sleeve preferably completely encases the carrier.
  • the carrier is particularly preferably completely encased by the first sleeve part.
  • the method further comprises the final step - injection molding a handle.
  • the electrical connector then further comprises a handle, which is preferably arranged on the sleeve.
  • the handle is preferably provided in an electrically insulating manner. Furthermore, it is preferably arranged on the side of the sleeve facing away from the carrier and surrounds at least the first sleeve part and / or at least partially also the second sleeve part, so that they are protected against external influences, for example mechanical stress, corrosion or other chemical influences.
  • the handle is also injection molded. It is particularly preferably made from a plastic.
  • the electrical connector manufactured in this way ensures high-quality and continuous shielding in the industrial environment. It is also inexpensive to manufacture.
  • Fig. 1 shows in the Fig. 1 (a) - (d) the production of an electrical connector 1 according to the invention.
  • the electrical connector 1 is provided for connecting a cable 21 to an electrical assembly 10, which is shown only schematically here.
  • An electrical assembly 10 is, for example, an electrical device, in particular a transmitter or receiver, a circuit board or another cable. To connect the cable 21 to the electrical assembly 10, the latter has a component to be connected, for example another electrical connector 1 according to the invention.
  • the cable 21 has three electrical conductors 2 and a conductor shield 3, the conductor shield 3 shielding the three electrical conductors 2 against electromagnetic radiation.
  • the electrical conductors 2 are arranged in a housing 4 of the electrical connector 1, see FIG. For this Fig. 1 (a) , wherein the conductor screen 3 is preferably exposed by stripping.
  • 4 conductor connections are provided in the housing.
  • screw or crimp connections are suitable as conductor connections.
  • the electrical conductors 2 are stripped if they have insulation.
  • the crimp connections are optionally connected to the electrical conductors 2.
  • the housing 4 is designed here as a circular connector.
  • a second sleeve part 52 which is designed here as a metal sleeve, is then arranged on the housing 4.
  • the second sleeve part 52 has a collar (see. Fig. 2 ) as a contact part to a housing screen 41.
  • the housing screen 41 is arranged on the housing 4 after the second sleeve part 52 has been arranged, in such a way that a counter contact part (s. Fig. 2 ) on the collar (see Fig. 2 ) is present and the second sleeve part 52 is electrically connected to the housing screen 41.
  • the housing screen 41 is designed here as a housing nut. It is provided for forwarding the shield to the electrical assembly 10.
  • a carrier 6 is injection molded, which in the embodiment shown here extends from the conductor shield 3 to the housing 4 and into it.
  • the housing shield 41, the conductor shield 3, the second sleeve part 52 and the carrier 6 are essentially coaxial around an extension direction of the housing 4, which is shown in FIG Fig. 1 (a) is shown as arrow 8.
  • the carrier 6 is designed to be electrically insulating, so that it electrically insulates the electrical conductors 2 and the conductor connections (not shown) from the conductor shield 3 and the second sleeve part 52, see FIG. Fig. 1 (b) .
  • the carrier 6 also insulates the conductors 2 from a first sleeve part 51, which is then injection molded to bear against the carrier 6.
  • the first sleeve part 51 is designed to be electrically conductive, likewise extends coaxially with the direction of extension 8, and connects the conductor shield 3 to the second sleeve part 52, and thus also to the housing shield 41. Therefore, in this embodiment, the injection-molded first sleeve part 51 and that form as a metal sleeve formed second sleeve part 52 a sleeve 5 which connects the conductor shield 3 continuously with the housing shield 41 of the electrical connector 1, see. Fig. 1 (c) .
  • a handle 7 is optionally injection molded, which completely surrounds at least the first sleeve part 51 of the sleeve 5 in order to protect it from external influences such as chemical or mechanical stress, see FIG. Fig. 1 (d) .
  • the handle 7 is electrically insulating, for example made of a polyurethane. It may be omitted, for example when using the electrical connector 1 according to the invention within a machine.
  • Fig. 2 shows the electrical connector 1 of FIG Fig. 1 in a sectional view.
  • the housing has 4 pin contacts 42, so that this electrical connector 1 is a plug.
  • the housing shield 41 is designed as a housing nut and has a collar-shaped counter-contact part 411 for contacting a collar-shaped contact part 521 of the second sleeve 52.
  • Fig. 3 shows an embodiment of the electrical connector 1 as a Y-connector.
  • two cables 21, 22 are led into the electrical connector 1, both of which each have one or more electrical conductors 2 (not visible here, see FIG. Fig. 1 , 2nd ) exhibit.
  • At least one or more electrical conductors 2 of one or both cables 21, 22 have a conductor shield 3 (not visible here, see FIG. Fig. 1 , 2nd ) on, the or the conductor shields 3 (not visible here, see. Fig. 1 , 2nd ) by means of the sleeve 5 (not visible here, see. Fig. 1 , 2nd ) are electrically conductively connected to the housing screen 41.
  • Fig. 4 shows a further embodiment of the electrical connector 1.
  • the cable 21 here has four electrical conductors 2 and a cable jacket 9.
  • the conductor shield 3 is arranged to shield all electrical conductors 2 on the side of the cable jacket 9 facing the electrical conductors 2. Therefore, the conductor screen 3 must be exposed before the injection molding of the carrier 6 and / or the sleeve 5 or the first sleeve part 51.
  • the cable sheath 9 is cut, in particular automatically, for example during a cutting process of the cable 21.
  • a piece 91 of the cable sheath 9 is partially pulled off the conductor shield 3, see FIG. Fig. 4 (a) .
  • the advantage of this conductor preparation is that the sealing diameter of the carrier 6 is defined and round, and corresponds to the cable sheath diameter, since the piece 91 of the cable sheath 9 is only partially removed from the conductor shield 3.
  • the sleeve 5 is formed from an injection-molded first sleeve part 51 and a second sleeve part 52.
  • the second sleeve part 52 is designed to be electrically conductive as a metal sleeve.
