- Microcrystalline waxes differ from paraffin waxes in physical properties, chain structure and length, and in the process of manufacture. They are tougher, more flexible and have higher tensile strength and melting points than paraffin waxes. MC waxes have high affinity for oil which, when added, increases the wax plasticity. MC wax cannot be distilled without decomposition, and therefore is separated from the residual distillation fraction of crude petroleum by de-waxing processes involving recrystallization in organic solvents and centrifugation . - Pre-formed emulsions of amino functional silicone are also available from suppliers of silicone oils such as Dow Corning and General Electric. Specific examples include DC929 Cationic Emulsion, DC939 Cationic Emulsion, and the non-ionic emulsions DC2-7224, DC2-8467, DC2-8177 and DC2-8154 (all ex Dow Corning) .

- the total amount of silicone incorporated into compositions of the invention depends on the level of conditioning desired and the material used.
