Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a piston construction and more specifically to a piston construction that is used in various devices operating in water.
  • Pistons are known for very many different purposes, there are combustion- engine pistons, pump pistons, and pistons for the most diverse other purposes.
  • a general principle is that a piston is most usually intended either to move a medium, or, on the other hand, to move when pushed by a medium.
  • a general principle of piston constructions is also that the piston usually moves in a cylinder or in a cylindrical structure and that it is sealed relative to the cylinder. Usually the cylinder and thus also the piston have a circular cross-section.
  • the present invention is intended to create a piston construction, which is intended to operate in water and which also comprises a piston proper, which moves in a cylinder.
  • the intention is now, however, to create added value in a piston construction.
  • Figure 1 shows a cross-sectioned side view of one alternative of the piston arrangement according to the invention
  • Figure 2 shows the arrangement according to Figure 1 in a another operating position
  • Figure 3 shows another alternative for the arrangement of the extension part of the cylinder
  • Figure 4 shows an alternative arrangement of the piston and guide.
  • the components in the arrangement according to Figure 1 are principally the following.
  • the cylinder which is mainly a cylindrical 'tube', is marked with the reference number 1.
  • the piston 2 is fitted in a sealed manner in the cylinder 1.
  • the guide rod 4 is positioned particularly in the centre of the cylinder relative to its cross-section and travels through the piston 2.
  • the reference number 3 is used to mark a weight, the material of which is clearly denser than water.
  • the reference number 6 marks the extension part of the cylinder, which is used when its use is sensible. Particularly when the weight moves extensively, the said extension part may be needed. It moves especially along with the weight 3.
  • the piston construction is intended for operation in water and is particularly intended to operate in pairs in devices making a rotational motion around a specific pivot point, or a backwards-and -forwards motion.
  • the operation is intended to be such that, on different sides of the aforementioned pivot point, the movement of the piston 2 and the weight 3 will bring the centre of gravity to different distances from the pivot point, thus causing the side that is farther from the pivot point to fall and the other to rise.
  • the reference number 1 1 marks an air chamber between the sealed piston 2 and the end of the cylinder. It is obvious that at least one pipe/hose, through which air can freely flow into and out of the chamber V according to the movement of the piston, leads into the chamber 1'.
  • the reference number 7 is used to mark a chamber, in which there is the water, in which the piston/cylinder is submerged. The weight 3 is thus not sealed, but instead the water can flow into the chamber 7 from the environment and also out of the chamber. The joint between the piston 2 and the guide 4 is naturally also sealed.
  • Figure 3 shows an alternative solution for the extension part.
  • the wall of the cylinder 1 is now formed to be double and the extension part 6 goes between the double walls.
  • Figure 4 shows an alternative solution, in which the guide does not run through the piston, but is attached to it in a fixed manner. In all other ways, Figure 4 corresponds to the solutions shown in Figure 1 and 2.
  • the invention described above can be varied in many ways.
  • the shapes and relative dimensions can be other than those shown.
  • the total device can include other components as additions.
  • One such is an additional weight, with the aid of which the control event is controlled, if this is required.
  • the cylinder 1 can have adjustable body structures, particularly in the case of its longitudinal axis. Above, reference has been made only to water, but, as can be easily understood, the liquid can be other than water, if desired.
