Abstract
The invention relates to an elastic gasket for sealing a toilet, forming a perimetric seat (1) for the bowl, internally defining a raised edge or perimetric rib (2) with an L-shaped cross-section, which internally adapts in the hollow of the bowl of the toilet (4), which is provided with respective flaps (3) arranged according to the holes for fixing the bowl, provided with holes (5) in accordance with those of the bowl (4) so that the fixing screws for the latter pass therethrough. The purpose of this gasket is to seal and prevent leaks and odors in the attachment of said bowl to the floor.
Description
- The present invention relates to a gasket forming a perimetric seat for the bowl the purpose of which is to seal and prevent leaks and odors in the attachment of said bowl to the floor.
- The invention is thus comprised in the technical field of waste drainages, specifically in toilet bowls.
- Toilet bowls are currently not provided with an elastic gasket for fixing them to the floor. The problem which arises when it is necessary to disassemble them is that the screws are destroyed by rust and it is necessary to joint them again with cement or silicone, to again ensure the tightness and prevent the propagation of unpleasant odors and moisture. There are also rooms with floors of specific designs, of parquet or other products, which do not allow these sealing products and require a specific process for each case.
- The invention relates to an elastic gasket, which is located between the bowl and the surface of the bathroom where it is installed, which prevents the leaks of fluids and odors and furthermore protects the fixing screws for the bowl against rusting, at the same time it prevents having to bond the bowl to the floor with cement again, since the actual fixing screws for such bowl achieve these results.
- The gasket of the invention internally has a raised edge or perimetric rib with an L-shaped cross-section, which internally adapts in the hollow of the bowl of the toilet to achieve this tightness and sealing effect. This perimetric seat has at the lower part at least one deformable lip providing great tightness to this area.
- Likewise, this rib is provided with respective flaps arranged according to the holes for fixing the bowl, which are provided with holes in accordance with those of the bowl, so that the fixing screws for the latter pass therethrough and are maintained free of rust during their useful life. These flaps project upwards such that in the assembly of the gasket they reach up to the ceiling of the cavity existing in this area of the toilet, also preventing the rusting and deterioration of the fixing screws.
- To complement the description which is being made and for the purpose of aiding to better understand the features of the invention, a set of drawings is attached to this specification in which the following has been depicted with an illustrative and non-limiting character:

Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the bowl of a toilet (4) assembled on a sealing gasket such as the one which is the object of the invention. -
Figure 2 depicts respective plan and elevational views of a gasket with these features. -
Figure 3 shows a cross-section of this gasket. - As can be observed in the referenced figures, the gasket of the invention is formed by a single part (1), manufactured in a color according to the design of the bowl (4), which is placed as a seat of the latter in the floor forming a tight closure serving to prevent leaks and odors, in addition to ensuring the sealing of this attachment.
- This gasket (1) has a raised inner edge (2) forming a perimetric rib which together with the base defines an L-shaped elevation according to the inner configuration of the toilet bowl (4). At the lower part this gasket defines a perimetric seat having at least one deformable lip (6) providing great tightness to this area.
- Likewise, two or more flaps (3) have been provided, arranged according to the holes for fixing the bowl, and provided with holes (5), in accordance with those of the bowl (4), which are raised up to the ceiling of the cavity existing in the area of the toilet, for the purpose of establishing an area for the passage of the fixing screws for said bowl, also preventing the rusting and deterioration of the screws.
- Having sufficiently described the nature of the invention, as well as a preferred embodiment, it is stated for the relevant purposes that the materials, shape, size and arrangement of the described elements may be modified, provided that this does not entail an alteration of the essential features of the invention which are claimed below:
Claims (3)
- An elastic gasket for sealing a toilet, forming a perimetric seat (1) for the bowl, according to the design thereof, the purpose of which is to seal and prevent leaks and odors in the attachment of said bowl to the floor, characterized in that it internally defines a raised edge or perimetric rib (2) with an L-shaped cross-section, which internally adapts in the hollow of the bowl of the toilet (4), which is provided with respective flaps (3) arranged according to the holes for fixing the bowl, provided with holes (5) in accordance with those of the bowl (4) so that the fixing screws for the latter pass therethrough.
- The elastic gasket for sealing a toilet according to claim 1, characterized in that the perimetric seat (1) has at the lower part at least one deformable lip (6) providing great tightness to this area.
- The elastic gasket for sealing a toilet according to the previous claims, characterized in that the flaps (3) are raised up to the ceiling of the cavity existing in this area of the toilet, for the purpose of also preventing the rusting and deterioration of the fixing screws.
