Definitions
- the shoulder support with the weapon to which the shoulder rest is fixed always considered in the attitude of a normal attack with horizontal run and without edge facing forwards.
- the shoulder rest can also be removed or attached to another device, such as an aiming device for exercise purposes.
- the rapid-fire rifle currently used in the US (the M 16 or M 4) is equipped with a shoulder rest that can be gradually adjusted in length and is generally removable.
- This shoulder rest is in the DE-OS 1 553 855 shown ( Fig. 1 and 2 , Reference numeral 1). It has one at the back Bottom plate 3 and is pushed over a connecting piece on the back of the rifle from the rear, which extends along the axis of the soul (weft direction) 5.
- This nozzle has at the bottom several consecutive, downwardly open holes.
- a vertical bolt 7 is mounted under the holes and is by a spring (not shown) pushed up so that it is incident in its rest position in one of the holes.
- the guide of the bolt 7 is a hole in the shoulder rest.
- a central pier 15 (in Fig. 2 not shown) of the shoulder support 1 extends in the longitudinal direction of the rifle from front to back and down and adjacent both sides with a small distance to the lever 9, so that the lever 9 can not rotate, but always occupies the same position as the actual trigger of the rifle.
- the lever 9 rests on an overlying edge (not shown), at a position just behind the bolt 7. Now, with the finger in the direction of the arrow ( Fig. 1 ) is pressed against the lever 9, then it pivots about said edge, pressing down against the pin 13. As a result, the bolt 7 is pulled down against the force of said spring, and the bolt 7 exits from its bore in which it was located downwards. Now, with the lever 9 pulled, the length of the shoulder support 1 can be adjusted.
- the lever 9 would have to be extended rearwardly by the length of the rounding or bevel to provide the shooter with a safe support point that is far enough behind the said end in order to easily adjust the length of the shoulder support 1, so that at least one of the settings would have to be omitted, because yes, the shoulder rest would be longer as such.
- the object of the invention is now to improve the handling of the shoulder rest without having to sacrifice one of the advantages of the existing buttstock (short length, adjustability, low manufacturing costs).
- the invention consists in that the rear end of the lever has an extension with which it engages behind a transverse wall of the shoulder support so that it can not be engaged from behind.
- the lever is completely surrounded in its rest position by parts of the shoulder rest, which allow only the removal.
- the lever preferably has an angled, lower surface, which are enclosed on both sides by side cheeks of the shoulder support and the back of the transverse wall, so that the lever can only be actuated when it is pressed in between the side walls. For example, a branch that lays across the sides of the cheek only pushes against the buttstock, not against the lever. Unintentional actuation is therefore virtually impossible.
- the cross pin is inserted so that it is completely submerged.
- An interference fit in the bolt prevents it from failing.
- This solution is particularly possible with a workpiece made of molding material, because this workpiece can accommodate the bolt with greater accuracy than is possible with a bent part.
- the bore which receives the bolt or a corresponding part may be formed as a blind bore, so that does not get through the bottom of the bore moisture and dirt in the shoulder rest.
- a development of the invention consists in that a tension member is arranged between the fastening or transverse pin and the upper side of the hollow bolt (claim 2). This allows the bolt to cover a vertical movement while the location of the lever on which the Tension member is attached, in addition to perform a slight horizontal movement. The contact point on the edge thus forms a kind of hinge.
- a further embodiment of the invention is that the underside of the bolt is received in a downwardly narrowed bore of the shoulder rest and provided with a shoulder, and that between the shoulder and the constriction of the bore, a helical spring is arranged in a lower portion of the bolt (Claim 3).
- the hole with the spring can be filled with grease. In this way, the rusting of the spring is at least delayed, so that it loses no spring force within its period of use.
- An embodiment of the invention is that the lever is seated in its front part from below flat on a flat portion of the shoulder support, whose rear portion cooperates with a pivot edge of the lever to form the hinge by which the lever can be tilted so in that the length of the shoulder support is adjustable (claim 4).
- the flat support prevents the ingress of moisture into particularly sensitive parts of the shoulder rest.
- a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention is that at a distance behind the point by which the lever can be tilted to release the engagement with the pipe socket of the rifle, a trailing edge of the shoulder support is arranged, on which the lever is seated when he is adjusting the length of the shoulder support is sufficiently pulled (claim 5). It is therefore not possible to pull the lever too far, so that not only force is saved, but in borderline cases, the accidental release of the shoulder rest is avoided.
- the Trailing edge is preferably located opposite the location where the finger grips the lever so that bending loads are minimized. The introduction of gripping grooves on the bottom or front of the lever ensures that usually the lever finger is pressed on the gripping grooves and thus opposite the trailing edge.
- the lever could be grabbed and pulled down if you want to remove the shoulder rest. However, it is preferred that the drawn lever is grippable at its front part and pivotable about the trailing edge to release the shoulder support (claim 6).
- the front part of the lever where the optimum leverage is exercised, does not need to protrude, or only slightly protrude, when the lever is not pulled. Only when the lever is pulled can this front part be grasped and pressed down with the lever pivoting around the rear edge and pulling the bolt down so far that the shoulder support can be removed. For this purpose, two hands are required, the one for pulling and the other for gripping the front, so that an accidental disassembly of the shoulder rest is practically impossible.
- a further embodiment of the invention is that the front of the lever is seated in its rest position on a block of the shoulder rest and beyond this forward only so far that it still does not form a handle for releasing the shoulder rest (claim 7).
- This small projection ultimately serves only to facilitate the gripping of the front of the lever when it is already fully pulled.
- a reliable support on the block is created, even if large manufacturing inaccuracies can be expected.
- a further embodiment of the invention is that the shoulder support and the lever made of plastic (claim 9).
- the shoulder support and the lever made of plastic (claim 9).
- a lightweight, insensitive to seawater shoulder rest is created, which has significantly lower production costs, compared with the known training of aluminum alloy.
- the shoulder rest of the invention is also lighter and, as already explained, much easier to handle than the known shoulder rest.
- FIG. 3 the inventive shoulder support 21 is shown in side view.
- This shoulder support 21 has a lever 29, which hardly protrudes outward.
- a cross pin 33 can be seen, but is not on the material of the lever 29 and therefore can not get caught anywhere.
- At the angled back of the lever 29 has a point 39, which is made recognizable by a corrugation.
- At the front of the lever 29 is an actuating portion 41 which projects beyond the shoulder support 21 forward a little.
- a transverse cheek 35 extends on each side of the lever 29 so that it is protected against accidental operation, for example by a transverse branch.
- the flat upper surface of the lever 29 rests on the front side thereof on a front wall 43 of the shoulder support 21 and a little behind on the flat bottom surface of a pad 51 of the shoulder support 21. At the rear of this block 51, the flat upper surface of the lever 29 terminates in a hinge edge 53.
- a vertical, downwardly narrowed bore 55 is introduced, in which a hollow trained, stepped Bolt 27 is seated.
- a spring 57 Around its tapered end is a spring 57 (in Fig. 4 not shown, but in Fig. 5 seen), which is supported between the shoulder 37 of the bore 55 and the shoulder of the bolt 27.
- a tension member 31 is arranged between the cross pin 33 and the top of the bolt 27.
- the bolt 27 is secured to the transverse pin 33 in a blind hole only open in the lever 29.
- a bore 49 is introduced in the upper wall of the shoulder support 21, through which the bolt 27 can be pressed during assembly against the force of the spring 57 down. This hole 49 can be closed later.
- the nozzle 65 which belongs to the rifle, has at the bottom a number of holes 61, the lower ends of which are connected by a lower surface 63.
- the bottom surface 63 is closed forward and backward by a downwardly projecting block 67.
- the lever 29 When the lever 29 is fully pulled, the upper end of the bolt 27 is just below the lower surface 63, so that the shoulder support 21 can be moved back and forth in the direction of the arrow 69 relative to the connecting piece 65 and thus to the rifle.
- the front and rear block 67 prevents it, that the shoulder support 21 inadvertently releases from the neck 65.
- the lever 29 can not be moved by the pressure on the point of application 39, since the point of application 39 of the front edge 59 is exactly opposite, against which the side walls 47 of the lever 29 abut with its rear edge.
- the operating section 41 can now be gripped on its front by the finger and be further pressed down obliquely. Now begins the lever 29, by its support with its side walls 47 on the front edge 59 of the shoulder support 21 to pivot it, wherein he pulls the bolt 27 against the ever higher force of the spring 57 down to the horizontal surface of the rear block 67 of the nozzle 65 slides over the bolt 27, if you pull the shoulder rest 21 in the direction of arrow 69 back. Now comes the shoulder rest 21 free and can be removed from the neck 65 and thus from the rifle ( Fig. 6 ).
- the bolt 27 falls into the intended bore 61 of the nozzle 65, and the lever 29 springs back to its original position, with its rear end 71, the rear transverse wall 45 of the shoulder support 21 engages behind and with its upper surface on the lower surface of the Front wall 43 and the pad 51 rests.
- a certain resilience of the lever 29, which consists of plastic ensures the tight contact of both the rear end 71 on the back of the rear transverse wall 45 and the actuating portion 41 on the front wall 43.
- the side walls 47 lie closely against the inner surfaces of the Side cheeks 35, so that a moisture-proofing of the inner parts of the shoulder support 21 is achieved, of which the bolt 27 and the spring 57 could be exposed to rusting.

Abstract
Description
- a shoulder support slidable from behind onto a neck projecting from the rear of the article to be shouldered and having engagement receptacles disposed one behind the other, the shoulder support having a downwardly depending bolt engaging on the upper surface an engaging body for engaging in Carries engagement recordings or is designed as such, and
- a lever, which is arranged in the region of the underside of the bolt and is engaged with this, in order to bring the engagement body out of engagement with one of the engagement receptacles when actuated (preamble of claim 1).
If in the following from a location designation as "down", "front", "about" o. The like. Is assumed, then the shoulder support with the weapon to which the shoulder rest is fixed, always considered in the attitude of a normal attack with horizontal run and without edge facing forwards. Of course, the shoulder rest can also be removed or attached to another device, such as an aiming device for exercise purposes.
From below, a deduction similar lever 9, which is formed of sheet metal or plastic, pushed by means of a bore introduced in it on the bolt 7 and secured by a

Since the lever 9 on the said edge on which it rests, can slip, and partly because of the game in the leadership of the bolt 7, seen in the longitudinal direction of the shoulder rest or the rifle, the operations operate when operating smoothly.
In the said neck, which is attached to the rifle, behind the said holes, which serve to adjust the length of the shoulder support, a downwardly projecting stop arranged, against which the bolt strikes when pulled the lever, the shoulder rest is pulled all the way back. The shoulder rest can thus not be deducted from the neck and thus not from the rifle. But if the lever 9 is taken at the
In this arrangement, some shortcomings have arisen, for example, that the shooter caught with the sleeve at the
Another disadvantage is that the
If a shooter reaches behind the lever 9 and shoots, he injures himself by the recoil of the weapon.
Although it would be possible to round off or bevel this
The object of the invention is now to improve the handling of the shoulder rest without having to sacrifice one of the advantages of the existing buttstock (short length, adjustability, low manufacturing costs).
The invention consists in that the rear end of the lever has an extension with which it engages behind a transverse wall of the shoulder support so that it can not be engaged from behind. Together with the side cheeks, which also the inventive buttstock like the well-known has, and with the wall of the shoulder support on the front of the lever, the lever is completely surrounded in its rest position by parts of the shoulder rest, which allow only the removal. In this case, the lever preferably has an angled, lower surface, which are enclosed on both sides by side cheeks of the shoulder support and the back of the transverse wall, so that the lever can only be actuated when it is pressed in between the side walls. For example, a branch that lays across the sides of the cheek only pushes against the buttstock, not against the lever. Unintentional actuation is therefore virtually impossible.
When used in damp terrain, when the shoulder rest is already adapted to the shooter, a little bit of grease is also needed to completely seal the contours of the lever and to ensure that virtually no moisture gets inside the mechanism of the shoulder rest. In addition, the lever has no protruding edges, not even the rear edge, where he could impose an obstacle or with which he could injure the shooter's hand. Thus, a lever training is created, which rests flat against the shoulder support and thereby avoids all the disadvantages of the known arrangement mentioned above, but also has additional advantages, such as the good seal against the ingress of moisture, without increasing the cost of production would count. first used in 1936 in the US rifle M1 Garand, where the lever was cast from zinc, but still required elaborate burnishing. In the invention, a hard plastic is recommended, so that the lever comes practically ready to install from the die-casting mold.
In this lever of (molding) material, the cross pin is inserted so that it is completely submerged. An interference fit in the bolt prevents it from failing. This solution is particularly possible with a workpiece made of molding material, because this workpiece can accommodate the bolt with greater accuracy than is possible with a bent part. In addition, the bore which receives the bolt or a corresponding part may be formed as a blind bore, so that does not get through the bottom of the bore moisture and dirt in the shoulder rest.
It is completely impossible to get stuck with one part of the clothing at one end of the transverse bolt because the cross bolt does not protrude. Instead, an easily grasped but in no way obstructing projection on the lever can be formed with which the lever can be pulled down when removing the shoulder rest. In addition, the lever is protected by the side walls against external influences, such as side impacts on the weapon.
Thus, an arrangement is created that works better than the known arrangement, but is also cost-effective, even more cost effective in large quantities.
A development of the invention consists in that a tension member is arranged between the fastening or transverse pin and the upper side of the hollow bolt (claim 2). This allows the bolt to cover a vertical movement while the location of the lever on which the Tension member is attached, in addition to perform a slight horizontal movement. The contact point on the edge thus forms a kind of hinge.
A further embodiment of the invention is that the underside of the bolt is received in a downwardly narrowed bore of the shoulder rest and provided with a shoulder, and that between the shoulder and the constriction of the bore, a helical spring is arranged in a lower portion of the bolt (Claim 3). For example, the hole with the spring can be filled with grease. In this way, the rusting of the spring is at least delayed, so that it loses no spring force within its period of use.
An embodiment of the invention is that the lever is seated in its front part from below flat on a flat portion of the shoulder support, whose rear portion cooperates with a pivot edge of the lever to form the hinge by which the lever can be tilted so in that the length of the shoulder support is adjustable (claim 4). The flat support prevents the ingress of moisture into particularly sensitive parts of the shoulder rest.
A particularly preferred embodiment of the invention is that at a distance behind the point by which the lever can be tilted to release the engagement with the pipe socket of the rifle, a trailing edge of the shoulder support is arranged, on which the lever is seated when he is adjusting the length of the shoulder support is sufficiently pulled (claim 5). It is therefore not possible to pull the lever too far, so that not only force is saved, but in borderline cases, the accidental release of the shoulder rest is avoided. The Trailing edge is preferably located opposite the location where the finger grips the lever so that bending loads are minimized. The introduction of gripping grooves on the bottom or front of the lever ensures that usually the lever finger is pressed on the gripping grooves and thus opposite the trailing edge.
The lever could be grabbed and pulled down if you want to remove the shoulder rest. However, it is preferred that the drawn lever is grippable at its front part and pivotable about the trailing edge to release the shoulder support (claim 6). The front part of the lever, where the optimum leverage is exercised, does not need to protrude, or only slightly protrude, when the lever is not pulled.
A further embodiment of the invention is that the front of the lever is seated in its rest position on a block of the shoulder rest and beyond this forward only so far that it still does not form a handle for releasing the shoulder rest (claim 7). This small projection ultimately serves only to facilitate the gripping of the front of the lever when it is already fully pulled. In addition, a reliable support on the block is created, even if large manufacturing inaccuracies can be expected.
A further embodiment of the invention is that the shoulder support and the lever made of plastic (claim 9). Thus, a lightweight, insensitive to seawater shoulder rest is created, which has significantly lower production costs, compared with the known training of aluminum alloy. The shoulder rest of the invention is also lighter and, as already explained, much easier to handle than the known shoulder rest.

The flat upper surface of the
The
The
- 1. pulling the
lever 29 by pressing on the point ofaction 39 until it stops on thefront edge 59, - 2. gripping the operating
portion 41 and further pulling down thelever 29, - 3. Slide the
shoulder rest 21 on thenozzle 65, and - 4. Release the
lever 29 shortly before the intended location and advance theshoulder rest 21 up to this.
Now the
