Description

The present invention relates to the field of watchmaking. More specifically, it relates to a clockwork movement equipped with a display module comprising a central bridge and an annular-type display member mounted to rotate substantially around the bridge. The invention also relates to a timepiece equipped with such a movement and a display module.

Clock movements of the type mentioned above equip, for example, date watches. These comprise a box in which is fixed a support, such as a plate, and a display module formed of a central bridge fixed to said plate, a date ring, a driving member, and a positioning member of the date ring. The module further comprises, optionally, a date correction device.

Conventionally, the drive member is rotatably mounted on the bridge, while the date ring is mounted bearing on the plate, free to rotate around the bridge. The positioning member occupies a housing provided for this purpose on the bridge. The axial positioning of these different elements, in the opposite direction to the plate, is generally provided by a holding plate screwed to the bridge, and extending above it and partially above the date ring. An example of such a plate is given in the document GB 1 471 678 . The holding plate, adapted in shape and size to the display module, is formed by stamping and folding. Its manufacturing cost is high because the stamp used for its cutting is itself very expensive. In addition, its assembly is very expensive because it is one of the final operations of the assembly of the timepiece, and it is known that the final operations have a cost considerably higher than the initial or intermediate operations.

The invention overcomes the cost problems mentioned above, since it relates to a watchmaking movement free of holding plate.

More specifically, the invention relates to a watch movement according to claim 1, which comprises bearing and positioning surfaces, the display member being held axially on the support without the aid of a holding plate. , similar to the solution revealed in the document EP0131858 of the plaintiff. The bridge, however, further comprises three positioning surfaces, and three assembly surfaces, offset axially and angularly with respect to the positioning surfaces; the display member comprises, in turn, three pins. The contact surface, the positioning surfaces, the assembly surfaces, and the pins are arranged to form together a bayonet assembly system for mounting the display member on the bridge.

With this bayonet assembly system, the display member is assembled to the bridge independently of the fixed support, so as to form a pre-assembled display module.

The invention also relates to a display module, and a timepiece comprising a movement equipped with such a display module.

Other features and advantages of the present invention will emerge more clearly from the detailed description which follows of an exemplary embodiment of a timepiece according to the invention, this example being given for purely illustrative and nonlimiting purposes only, in conjunction with the accompanying drawing in which:
  • the figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of a first embodiment of a timepiece according to the invention,
  • the figure 2 is a partial sectional view of a movement equipping this timepiece,
  • the figure 3 is a perspective view of an assembled display module, mounted on this movement, and
  • the figure 4 is an exploded perspective view of a timepiece.

The timepiece represented in figure 1 , and designated by the general reference 10, conventionally comprises a box 12 formed of a middle 14, a bottom 16 and a mirror 17, together defining a housing 18 in which takes place a movement 20, and a dial 21 interposed between the ice 17 and the movement 20.

The movement 20 is shown in section in figure 2 . It comprises a fixed support 23, such as a plate, on which are mounted the members of a basic movement 22 shown schematically, on the figures 1 and 2 , by a block integral with said plate. It further comprises a display module 24 mounted on the upper face of the plate 23. The upper face is the face facing the dial 21, and the lower face the opposite face. Fixing the plate 23 to the box 12 is not represented on the figures 1 and 2 but it can be carried out using screws, flanges, a casing ring or any other means known to those skilled in the art. The plate 23 is provided on its upper face with a circular thread 25, whose function will be specified later.

Le module d'affichage 24 comporte encore, de façon optionnelle, un dispositif de correction non représenté, monté de préférence sur la face inférieure du pont 26.The display module 24 conventionally comprises a substantially circular central bridge 26, and a display ring 28 of axis AA, coaxial with the bridge 26, on which are affixed time indications, such as calendars, days of the week, or even moon phases. The bridge 26 is fixed rigidly to the plate 23 with screws not shown on the figures 1 and 2 . The display ring 28 is mounted free to rotate about the bridge 26, resting on the plate 23. For this purpose, it is provided with a substantially cylindrical portion 29 forming a bearing surface 31 cooperating with the thread 25 in order to limit the friction associated with its rotational movement. The cylindrical portion 29 is provided with a toothing 30 located on its inner side, intended to drive the ring 28 in rotation. A drive wheel 32 mounted to rotate freely on the bridge 26 and pulling its driving force of a kinematic chain driven by the base movement 22, cooperates with the toothing 30. A jumper 34, disposed in a housing 36 provided for this purpose on the bridge 26, is intended for the angular positioning of the ring 28. The module display 24 also optionally comprises a correction device, not shown, preferably mounted on the underside of the bridge 26.

According to the invention, the display ring 28 is provided, on the side of its inside diameter, with an annular portion 35 extending radially above the toothing 30, and forming a contact surface 37 facing the dial. 21. The bridge 26 is, for its part, provided with three protuberances 38 distributed angularly around its periphery, and extending radially above the contact surface 37. Said protuberances 38 form three positioning surfaces 40 cooperating with the surface of contact 37 so as to axially position the display ring 28 on the plate 23. The ring 28 is thus free to rotate and held axially in one direction by the plate 23, and in the other direction, by the protuberances 38.

The drive wheel 32 and the jumper 34 are held axially on the bridge 26, by means well known to those skilled in the art, not shown in FIG. figure 1 . It will be noted, for example, that if the bridge 26 is made of plastic material, by injection, the drive wheel 32 and the jumper 34 are advantageously locked axially by heat-sealing. Alternatively, if the bridge 26 is conventionally made of metal, by machining, the drive wheel 32 and the jumper 34 are blocked, optionally, by a screw or tenon.

The bridge 26 is, furthermore, provided with three shoulders 42 constituted by annular portions angularly and axially offset relative to the protuberances 38, and forming three joining surfaces 44, facing the dial 21. For reasons which will appear later, the axial offset between the shoulders 42 and the protuberances 38 is slightly greater than the thickness of the annular portion 35. The display ring 28 is, on its side, provided with three lugs 46 extending radially in the extension of the annular portion 35, in the direction of the axis AA. The annular portion assembly 35 - protuberances 38 - shoulders 42 - lugs 46 form a bayonet assembly system, part of which consists of the shoulders 42 and the lugs 46, has no function within the timepiece 10 mounted, but is intended for mounting the ring 28 on the bridge 26, to form a display module 24 pre-assembled. It will be noted that the flanks of the shoulders 42 form, in addition, a rotational guiding surface 48 of the ring 28, cooperating with the end of the toothing 30.

The pre-assembly of the display module 24 is carried out as follows. The drive wheel 32 and the jumper 34 are positioned on the bridge 26 and held axially by the aforementioned means. The display ring 28 is mounted on the bridge 26 by the bayonet system. For this purpose, the lugs 46 are brought facing the protuberances 38, then the ring 28 is rotated so as to bring the lugs 46 opposite the shoulders 42. In this angular position, and the fact that the annular portion 35 is adapted in thickness at the axial distance between the protuberances 38 and the shoulders 42, the contact surface 37 cooperates with the positioning surfaces 40, and the lugs 46 cooperate with the assembly surfaces 44. As a result, the ring 28 is positioned axially relative to the bridge 26. The display module 24 thus pre-assembled is shown in FIG. figure 3 .

The pre-assembly operation of the display module 24 is easy and independent of that of mounting the basic movement 22 of the timepiece 10. It facilitates its transport, and its storage compared to a module in parts , and can be done well in advance of the final assembly, at lower costs. The module 24 may, for example, be pre-assembled in a first factory and transported to a second factory where it will be stored before being mounted on the basic movement 22. The assembly of the pre-assembled module is then simply carried out. by screwing the bridge 26 on the plate 23. Once the display module 24 mounted on the base movement 22, the ring 28 rests on the thread 25 of the plate 23. The shoulders 42 and the lugs 46 no longer contribute axial positioning of the ring 28 relative to the bridge 26, the plate 23 itself ensuring this function.

We now refer to the figure 4 , illustrating a timepiece outside the claimed invention. The shoulders 42 and the lugs 46 are respectively absent from the bridge 26 and from the ring 28. The display module 24 is therefore free of the bayonet connection system of the ring 28 on the bridge 26. which can not be preassembled, the module 24 is mounted piece by piece on the basic movement 22. The ring 28 is firstly arranged on the plate 23, then, the bridge 26 is screwed to the plate 23. The drive wheel 32 and the jumper 34 are then mounted on the bridge 26. As previously, the axial retention of the ring 28 in the direction of the dial 21, is achieved by the protuberances 38 which cooperate with the annular portion 35. Similarly, the drive members 32 and positioning 34 are axially locked by the means described above. This simplified variant of a timepiece eliminates the holding plate, but excludes the pre-assembly of the display module 24. Note that in this embodiment, the rotation guide of the ring 28 , is provided by the outer side of the bridge 26, which forms a guide surface 50 cooperating with the inner side of the annular portion 35.

It goes without saying that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments which have just been described, and that various simple modifications and variants can be envisaged by those skilled in the art, without departing from the scope of the present invention such as as defined by the appended claims.

In an example outside the invention as claimed, the bridge 26 may be provided with two protuberances 38, or even a single protuberance extending over a large angular sector.

It will also be understood that the bridge 26 can assume a geometry other than circular, for example substantially triangular, without its functionality being affected.
