  • the present invention concerns a lilting element acting as a part of a lining made of a flexible polymeric material for a grinding mill used for grinding ores and minerals. More precisely, the invention concerns a lifting element of a grinding mill, where the mechanical properties and wear resistance of the wear protection change, when the profile of said lifting element changes due to wear, so that the service life of the wear protection increases.
  • the inner surface of the drum of grinding mills is plated with a wear resistant lining protecting the drum against wear caused by the grinding. Wear is caused by the ore and rock material and by the elements used for grinding like grinding balls, bars or cylinders. Materials used for wear lining include elastomeric material like rubber, composition metals like steel, or a combination thereof.
  • the wear lining comprises protective plates and lifting elements, said lifting elements being here later referred to as lifting bars. Lifting bars extend from one end of the drum to another, the bars being fastened to the frame of the drum and they mechanically lock the protective plates onto the surface of the drum. Lifting bars having the purpose to improve the rotation of the material to be ground and the grinding elements in the mill are located more projecting than the lining on the inner surface of the drum.
  • Elastomers used for linings of mills and lifting bars have low resistance to grinding abrasion, but high resistance to impact stresses.
  • Hard metallic linings like white cast iron have high resistance to abrasion but due to their low toughness, they can be used only in smaller mills, with less impact stresses. With worked or cast steel based materials the impact strength is higher but the wear resistance is lower than with the white cast irons.
  • a lifting bar having the best mechanical properties and wear resistance is provided by combining the elastomeric and metallic lining.
  • US Patent 5,431,351 discloses a lifting bar utilizing a metallic frame construction.
  • US Patent 4,848,681 discloses a lifting bar made of an elastomeric material having the leading edge reinforced with a metallic layer.
  • the lifting bar formed of polymer and metal is made of two or a plurality of metals, alloys or metallic and ceramic compounds connected to the polymeric frame so, that different portions of the lifting bar are made of material with optimal mechanical properties and wear resistance.

These cross-sectional profiles show, that in the solution according to the invention, the metallic reinforcement needs not to have a rectangular form, but it can also be implemented with different profile forms.

  • the materials of a wear protection of a lifting bar in accordance with the present invention can advantageously be manufactured with a powder metallurgical method, like for example by compacting the powder raw materials by means of hot isostatic pressing, whereby the powder(s) are compacted by means of temperature and pressure. If necessary, the material can be further processed for example by hot working or by forming.

Claims (12)

  1. Elément de relevage (1) pour un tambour d'un broyeur destiné à être utilisé afin d'assurer le broyage de minerais et minéraux, ledit élément de relevage étant fixé sur le châssis (3) du tambour et s'étendant dans la direction longitudinale du tambour, et ledit élément de relevage comprenant un corps flexible (5) réalisé en un matériau polymère et une protection d'usure (6) située sur le bord avant du corps par rapport au sens de rotation du tambour, caractérisé en ce que :
    la protection d'usure (6) consiste en au moins deux parties différentes (7, 8), lesdites parties étant fabriquées en différents matériaux présentant des résistance et dureté différentes l'un par rapport à l'autre,
    lorsqu'elle est vue depuis la base de l'élément de relevage :
    la protection d'usure (6) est divisée en une partie supérieure (7) et une partie inférieure (8), lesdites parties étant situées sensiblement l'une au-dessus de l'autre et la partie supérieure (7) de la protection d'usure (6) est fabriquée en un matériau présentant une résistance supérieure et une dureté inférieure à celles du matériau avec lequel la partie inférieure (8) de la protection d'usure (6) est fabriquée ou
    en ce que la partie (8) de la protection d'usure (6) fabriquée en le matériau plus dur est située au moins partiellement à l'intérieur de la partie (7) fabriquée en le matériau plus résistant.
  2. Elément de relevage (1) selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que la partie (8) de la protection d'usure (6) fabriqué en le matériau plus dur est située sur la partie inférieure du bord avant de la partie (7) fabriquée en le matériau plus résistant.
  3. Elément de relevage (1) selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que la partie (8) de la protection d'usure (6) fabriquée en le matériau plus dur est située au moins partiellement au-dessous de la partie (7) fabriquée en le matériau plus résistant.
  4. Elément de relevage (1) selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3, caractérisé en ce qu'au moins l'un des matériaux de la protection d'usure (6) est fabriqué à partir d'un matériau de base produit avec un procédé de la métallurgie des poudres.
  5. Elément de relevage (1) selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 4, caractérisé en ce qu'au moins l'un des matériaux de la protection d'usure (6) est fabriqué par moulage.
  6. Elément de relevage (1) selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 5, caractérisé en ce qu'au moins l'un des matériaux de la protection d'usure (6) est fabriqué par dépôt de soudure.
  7. Elément de relevage (1) selon l'une quelconque des revendications 4 à 6, caractérisé en ce que le matériau fabriqué avec un procédé de la métallurgie des poudres est un acier rapide ou un acier à outils par métallurgie des poudres.
  8. Elément de relevage (1) selon l'une quelconque des revendications 4 à 6, caractérisé en ce que le matériau fabriqué avec un procédé de la métallurgie des poudres est un matériau composite résistant à l'usure.
  9. Elément de relevage (1) selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 8, caractérisé en ce que les matériaux de la protection d'usure (6) sont liés l'un à l'autre au moyen d'une augmentation de température et de pression.
  10. Elément de relevage (1) selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 8, caractérisé en ce que les matériaux de la protection d'usure (6) sont liés l'un à l'autre au moyen d'un joint adhésif.
  11. Elément de relevage (1) selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 10, caractérisé en ce que le formage par projection est utilisé pour la fabrication de la protection d'usure (6).
  12. Elément de relevage (1) selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 1 l, caractérisé en ce qu'un procédé de moulage est utilisé afin d'assurer la fabrication de la protection d'usure (6).
