Definitions
- the invention relates to an electronic control unit according to the preamble of claim 1, a pump drive unit according to the preamble of claim 19, a method for manufacturing and an electro-hydraulic control device according to the preambles of claims 24 and 25.
- an ABS control device which is constructed according to the principle of a so-called "magnetic plug” with movable, elastically held valve coils in an electronics housing.
- the electronic unit (ECU) with an integrated circuit board and the valve coils is pluggably connected to a valve block (HCU), which comprises the valve domes and other hydraulic components of the brake unit.
- the ECU also includes an integrated connector for connecting a connection cable (e.g. wheel sensor cable).
- connection cable e.g. wheel sensor cable
- FIGS. 20 and 21 Another example of a current controller connected to a valve block for a vehicle dynamics control device, suitable for ABS and ESP, according to the prior art, is described in more detail below in connection with FIGS. 20 and 21. This construction also does not yet sufficiently meet the requirements placed on a modern electrohydraulic control unit for motor vehicle brake systems.
- the object of the present invention is to make an electrohydraulic control unit of the type mentioned at the outset with a still further reduced use of constructional and functional resources, with particularly good conditions for dissipating the heat generated by the electronic components.
- the so-called controller housing is primarily used to hold electronic control modules.
- the controller housing can be connected via electrical and hydraulic interfaces to a hydraulic unit in a manner known per se to form an electro-hydraulic control unit.
- the coils for the hydraulic valves are arranged in the controller housing. When the controller and valve block are assembled, the coils are pushed over the dome of the hydraulic valve that protrudes from the block.
- the electro-hydraulic control device described is preferably used in electronic motor vehicle brake systems, in particular with ESP functionality.
- novel electronic additional functions can advantageously be integrated into an electronic control unit.
- the usual electromechanical requirements for a control unit for a motor vehicle brake system such as mechanical robustness, operational safety, service life, electrical operational safety, thermal operational safety, optimal use of the installation space, low production costs, etc., are still partially met in some cases or even more than in some points Fulfills.
- the control unit is suitable for the usual electronic control and regulation tasks, such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), yaw rate control or electronic stability program (ESP, TCS) etc.
- ABS anti-lock braking system
- ESP electronic stability program
- the control unit is particularly suitable for modern electrical braking systems with high requirements.
- the electronic integrated motor vehicle brake control unit consists of the elements of an electronic controller housing (ECU), hydraulic block with hydraulic valves (HCU) and pump drive (PA).
- the electronic control unit according to the invention has the advantage, among other things, that no expensive liquid seals that were previously necessary are required.
- the invention has the advantage that the ECU manages without a previously common intermediate floor, as it has previously served as a support for the circuit board. This creates space for a second printed circuit board arranged in the direction of the coils, which was previously not available in known controller housings. In this way, electrical connections of the magnetic coils and in particular of the pressure sensors can be combined. In addition, the use of a second circuit board creates more space that can be used for cooling.
- the invention also relates to a new pump drive unit, which has the advantage over known solutions that the electronic power components for controlling the motor are applied to a motor base plate, thereby enabling advantageous cooling.
- the present invention also aims to apart to further improve the heat dissipation from the cooling plate to the environment.
- the control device according to the invention according to claim 24 has a whole series of advantages over the solutions known in the prior art. Due to the constantly growing range of functions of the electronics and an ever increasing integration density, the derivation of the increasing heat loss of the circuit is of increasing importance. Due to the thermal connection according to the invention of a flat cooling element (e.g. through the metal body embedded in the housing) to the hydraulic block, the cooling element and thus also the sensitive electronic semiconductor components are connected to a highly heat-conductive heat reservoir with high specific heat via a direct metallic connection, so that the necessary Cooling of the electronic components is significantly improved by a low thermal resistance. According to the proposed concept, the large thermal capacity of the valve block can advantageously be used for cooling.
- This optimized suspension of the circuit board also gives the possibility that additional circuit boards for integrating sensors, for example, can be attached to the main board without the additional mass for the circuit board suspension being critical.
- the metal bodies used can preferably also be designed as sleeves, so that the regulator can also be connected to the hydraulics with corresponding screws guided through the sleeves and to the hydraulic block at these internal positions. The previous, external fastening sleeves can then be omitted.

- Fig. 20 shows a controller housing according to the prior art with a cooling plate
- Fig. 21 shows a further controller housing according to the prior art with a spring plate.
- FIG. 1 shows an ECU 14 placed on an HCU 13.
- An arrangement of printed circuit board 31, with exactly one heat conducting plate 9 made of aluminum and another printed circuit board 3, is inserted into the controller housing 14 of the ECU in the ECU.
- Housing 14 is sealed off from the HCU in the region of housing wall 14 'by means of a circumferential seal 1.
- Seal 1 is preferably made of hose material and inserted into a housing groove.
- cylindrical heat-conducting body 4 in the example, only one heat-conducting body is shown for the sake of simplicity) not only represents a heat-conducting bridge, but an electrical shear contact between the two circuit boards 31 and 3.
- Thermally conductive body 4 is preferably made of the same material as the heat-conducting plate 9. This offers the advantage that different coefficients of thermal expansion of the plate 9 heat-conducting body 4 do not lead to excessive mechanical stress or even destruction of the circuit board arrangement.
- Thermally conductive body 4 is preferably embedded in a plastic material, in particular injected.
- their coil wires 3 are connected to printed circuit board 3 by means of stamp soldering.
- additional electronic components can preferably also be arranged, as on printed circuit board 31.
- the coils 12 shown in the example shown are immersed in a depression in the surface of the HCU when the ECU and HCU are joined together.
- coil 12 has a C-shaped yoke 6, which is in thermal contact with HCU 13. This allows the required installation space (overall height) of the control device to be markedly reduced.
- an elastic, resilient heat-conducting element 15 advantageously similar to a Cu spring, is used instead of a heat-conducting body made of aluminum 4 to produce thermal contact within the circuit board arrangement from Fig. 1.
- FIG. 3 shows a circumferential sealing groove 58 at the edge of the HCU, which is machined as a recess in the surface of the HCU which is connected to the ECU.
- Clamping sword 70 of the ECU cover engages in groove 58, which is sealed by filling groove 58 with a suitable adhesive and / or sealing means 49.
- This construction offers the advantage that it not only seals, but also has a high holding force, so that no additional additional attachment of the lid is required.
- FIGS. 4 and 5 show a pump drive unit 18 with a motor base plate 22 made of plastic. Press-in contacts 16 are injected into plate 22. Furthermore, a circuit board 26 is inserted into this for receiving the electronics. Plate 22 also has plastic holders, not shown, e.g. made of PPA, with which brushes 23 are attached to base plate 22. Special contacts can already be molded into the holder.
- the electronics of the pump drive unit are connected to the ECU via a feedthrough known per se (reference numeral 30 in FIG. 6), the feedthrough being guided by the HCU.
- the bushing is in the form of an elongated rod with a male electrical connector which, when assembled, engages socket 25 which is connected to plate 22. A plug for contact with the elongated rod is also provided in the ECU.
- the heat of the power components of the engine is dissipated particularly effectively according to the principle of a “heatsink” to the metal body of the valve block 13 by means of heat-conducting plates 21, which rest over a large area on valve block 13.
- FIG. 6 shows a further alternative possibility of connecting printed circuit board 31 to heat conducting plates I 9 and II 32, in which there is no direct thermal contact between plates 9 and 32.
- Valve coils 12 are mechanically attached to the second heat conducting plate 32 without the use of spring plates.
- Warming plate 32 is with Screwed housing 14.
- 64 denotes a double press-in contact which serves for the electrical connection of the upper circuit board 31 to a valve coil or for thermal contact with the heat conducting plates 9 and 32. Double press-in contacts 64 then also bring about thermal contact between the two heat-conducting plates.
- the ECU housing 14 shown in Fig. 7 has a lid 35 made of a metal such as aluminum. Cover 35 is glued to housing 14.
- heat conducting plate 9 rests on a support surface 34 molded into the controller housing 14. Above this support surface, on the opposite side of plate 9, metal cover 35 partially rests on support surface 34 ', so that plate 9 is held by cover 35.
- a particularly good heat dissipation to the external environment is produced by connecting the heat conducting plate 9 to the metal cover 35.
- FIG. 8 shows a variant of an ECU in which the additional board 36 is laminated onto the opposite second surface of the heat-conducting plate 9, as is also the main board 31, the additional board being electrically connected to the main board 31 via a flexible film 59.
- Foil 59 can be connected to the circuit board (s) by means of stamp soldering or this is produced together with the circuit board in a lamination process.
- 31, 9 and 36 form a circuit board assembly which is fastened to the controller housing 14 by metal pins 60.
- the circuit board assembly is fastened to metal pins 60 by means of a riveted connection 61 or a caulking connection 62, with corresponding tapered sections of the pins 60 engaging in suitably positioned recesses in the assembly.
- metal pins 60 are inserted into the plastic controller housing 14 during its manufacture Positions injected. If the tapered sections of the pins 60 are suitably dimensioned, there are bearing surfaces 63 lying at a height, which represent a particularly advantageous possibility for the vertical positioning of the circuit board assembly.
- Additional board 36 is attached to cover 35.
- An electrical connection to main board 31 is made via flexible film 59.
- Additional board 36 can provide electronic assemblies for additional functions such as TPMS, DDS or other functions.
- a punched grid 37 is provided for fastening the valve coils 12, to which the coil contacts 65, which are designed to be resilient, are first welded during manufacture. After the coil is fastened, leadframe 37 is inserted into the ECU housing, which is held by clawing spring plates. Nut or rivet 38 thermally connects the assembled printed circuit board to heat conducting plate 9 by means of bolt 39.
- Bolt 39 is made of copper or a suitable copper / tin alloy for reasons of a thermal expansion coefficient that is adapted as far as possible.
- the ECU shown in FIG. 10 comprises, in addition to heat conducting plate 9, a further heat conducting plate III 40, which is connected to plastic cover 8.
- Thermally conductive plate 40 is thermally conductive via thermal conductive spring 41 or via a thermal conductive cushion (reference numeral 42 in FIG. 11) with thermal conductive plate 9 connected.
- spring plates 45 are arranged in the region of the coils, with which the coils are contacted.
- heat conducting plate III 40 is guided to the outside into a peripheral region of cover 35, so that it is thermally in direct contact with the ambient air.
- This cooling measure is particularly advantageous since the additional cooling plate can be attached to cover 35 in a simple manner by means of an adhesive connection.
- thermally conductive connection from the inside of plate 40 via heat-conducting pads 42 to circuit board 31, to further heat-conducting plate 9 or directly to the surface of an electronic component 43 to be cooled, for example the integrated power electronics of the ECU.
- Thermally conductive cushion 42 can deform plastically and / or elastically.
- a heat conductor plate 31 made of Al with heat conducting plate 9 is connected by Cu plate 44, which is expediently connected by gluing with Al plate 31 and pressed into circuit board 9. This results in an improved dissipation of the heat from the circuit board to the heat conducting plate. Compared to an alternative Cu rivet that can be used, the heat dissipation of the illustrated Cu plate 44 pressed into the guide plate is increased.
- FIG. 13 shows how said copper sheet 44 is positioned on part of the surface of heat conducting plate 9.
- the glued surface is dimensioned such that it lies within the spring elements 45 (see also FIG. 10).
- 14 shows a connection area between metal cover 35 and housing wall 14 '.
- Friction welding contour 46 which runs at the edge of the cover, forms a material connection between cover 35 and housing wall 14'.
- Contour 46 is trough-shaped and can be filled with adhesive 49 or a sealing material.
- Web 48 engages in chambers 47 integrally or sealingly.
- the use of two chambers 47 not only results in a particularly firm connection and tightness, but it also creates a possibility of using the housing 14 universally both for closing with a metal cover and with a plastic cover.
- a cover that can be separated from the controller housing has the advantage that the subsequent installation of additional boards for additional functions in the sense of a modular concept is possible in a simple manner (see additional board on the lid in FIG. 10).
- FIG. 15 shows, similar to FIG. 12, the thermal connection of printed circuit board 31 to heat conducting plate 9.
- a thermal coupling of plates 31 and 9 is produced by Cu rivet 55, rivet 55 being integrally bonded to Cu plate 50.
- the attachment to plate 50 is expediently carried out by means of a thin adhesive layer 69.
- Cu plate 50 is also bonded to heat conducting plate 9.
- FIG. 16 schematically shows a possibility for the mechanical and electrical connection of a small additional printed circuit board 51 (baby board), which carries additional, optionally optional electronic components, to a printed circuit board 31 in the ECU.
- Contact pins 52 are connected to the corresponding guide plate 31 at one end via a press-in contact 53 and at the other end via an SMD contact 54.
- a controller housing 14 made by injection molding of plastic is screwed to valve block 13.
- Metal bodies 172 are embedded in controller housing 14 and connected to the unit formed from printed circuit board 26 and cooling plate 9 by screws 171. In the assembled state, these end faces rest directly on valve block 13.
- Printed circuit board 26 is glued or laminated onto metal plate 4 for cooling.
- the assembly thus formed is fixed in the housing 14 by placing and fastening the metal plate 9 on the end faces of the metal bodies 172 facing away from the valve block.
- magnet coils 12 are supported elastically against the fixed metal plate 9 via elastomer rings 176 and are thus pressed with their metallic yokes 68 against the surface of the valve block 13.
- Wall 14 'of controller housing 14 forms electronics room 177, which is sealed off from the environment by means of a circumferential seal 179 to valve block 13. Room 177 is closed at the top by cover 8, which is attached to wall 14 'by means of friction welding (see area 1715).
- the contact surfaces of the metal body 172, which rest on the valve block 13, are located within the sealed area.
- ECU housing 14 is connected to valve block 13 with screws (not shown) by means of metallic sleeves 1711 embedded in controller housing 14.
- metallic sleeves 1711 embedded in controller housing 14.
- a minimal residual gap is provided between the end face of the sleeves 1711 and the surface of the valve block 13 in the unloaded state, which is caused by elastic deformation of the housing 14 when the fastening screws (not shown) are tightened is closed.
- solenoid coils 12 are replaced by elastomer rings 176 with stop surfaces 1720 incorporated in yoke plates 68 (see rich 1717) pressed against the honeycomb-shaped partitions of the downwardly open housing 14 and thus axially fixed.
- stop shoulders are lifted off the intermediate walls of housing 14 when the end faces of yokes 68 are placed on valve block 13 (see area 1716).
- the controller housing 14 shown in FIG. 18 largely corresponds to the controller housing in FIG. 18, except for the fixing of the metal plate 9.
- the heat-conducting metal bodies 172 are connected to metal plate 9 by caulking 1718 of a section of the metal body 172 provided for this purpose , In the area of the caulking to be carried out, a suitable recess 1721 is provided in the printed circuit board 26.
- the heat-conducting metal bodies are designed as sleeves 1714 in FIG. 19.
- Sleeves 1714 can be used particularly advantageously via screws 1713 at the same time for fastening the controller housing 14 to the valve block 13.
- circuit board 26, cooling plate 9 and controller housing 14 are fixed to hydraulic block 13 with screws 1713 before cover 8 can be mounted on housing 14. In this case, independent installation of the HCU and ECU is not possible.
- Printed circuit board 31 is connected to an aluminum plate 9 used for cooling by a lamination process.
- the arrangement of the printed circuit board and the cooling plate is made via press-in connections 203 of the plug contacts and by means of several bonds 202 firmly fixed. There is no direct metallic connection between the cooling plate 9 serving as a heat sink and the valve block 13.
- the circuit board (not shown) is also connected to the controller housing via press-in contacts 203.
- Housing 14 is screwed to valve block 13 by means of screws which are inserted through sleeves 2111. There is also no direct metallic connection between the aluminum plate (not shown) and the valve block (not shown).
- a resilient sheet 2123 with a complex geometry is additionally pressed into the controller housing 14.
