Abstract

The invention relates to a method for generating three-dimensional transparent patterns on a non-woven fabric or similar, whereby, for example, hot air is sucked through openings which form the pattern in the circumferential surface of a drum. The openings are straight or curved gaps instead of conventional holes and together with other openings form the desired pattern. The air or similar, flowing through the gaps, presses the fibres into the gaps and the vacuum on the inner side of the drum sucks said fibres onto the patterning.

Description

The invention relates to a device with a circulating within a housing drum for colorless patterning of a web of intertwined and thus consolidated fibers natural or synthetic type preferably a nonwoven such as cotton fleece, which is also dried in the case of a wet treatment such as hydrodynamic needling or a refining process wherein the web is pressed against the apertured drum by means of a positive and negative pressure acting on a fluid, and the cross-sectional areas of the apertures produce the pattern on the web, the peripheral surface of the drum being provided with apertures presenting an image, patterning in a variety of ways act on the lying web.

It is known from EP-A-0 105 730 a device is performed with the hot air against a lying on a drum, patterning, consisting of rods or wires endless belt on which rests the web. In the known device, the edge regions and indeed the passages forming smooth, the waterway bearing surfaces are not permeable.

With the device according to DE-A-199 29 105 water is pressed against a non-woven, which rests on a pattern-giving structural sieve. In both cases, the pattern on the web is generated by the pattern of the endless belt.

It is known from US Pat. No. 5,115,544 or also DE-A-199 12 279 or DE-A-199 12 905 to provide a screen with a profile giving rise, against which the fleece to be stitched is pressed by means of water jets. Depending on which figures are applied as elevations on the Endlossieb, The most different patterns may also be created as a hole pattern. Similar disclosures EP-AO 511 025, after which also provide increases on a screen for the colorless pattern. As a medium for moving the fibers, hot air can also be used here.

A more complex process for colorless patterning by means of air is disclosed in US Pat. No. 4,499,637. High-energy air jets are blown from computer-controlled nozzles against the web. Furthermore, it is known from DE-A-21 09 143 to move over the web a template with the desired pattern corresponding recesses is blown against the hot air under pressure. However, this method known from the color printing process could not satisfy either. The same applies to the idea according to DE-A-20 21 188, in which the patterning by means of the stencil also takes place with hot air in that the air causes individual fibers of the poliform material web to shrink as desired in the pattern.

Starting from the initially mentioned type, the object is to find a device with the od without any difficulty, any pattern in the nonwoven od. Like. Can be forced, without having to pay attention to a structural pattern of a transporting endless belt.

To achieve the object, the invention provides that the drum and the outer peripheral surface of the drum over the entire web carrying the surface microperforated and thus fluid-permeable formed and the patterning passages are larger than the micro-perforation of the web carrying surface dimensioned that fluid It is not the structure of a transport element produce the image pattern, but the cross-sectional area of existing on the transport element passages in the area of the passages and in the area of the web carrying smooth surface of the transport element. For this purpose, however, the smooth surface forming the passages and carrying the web is also permeable to the fluid in the edge region. For a clean, clearly figured patterning is also the outer drum or the film as a whole permeable to air or microperforated, thus the extracted fluid can be removed over the entire surface and not only on the pattern surfaces. It is also advantageous that the flat surface carrying the web has passages, so that a three-dimensional pattern can be readily formed.

The web must in case of wet treatment, eg. B. if it was solidified by hydrodynamic needling, anyway dried. Now, if the heat treatment apparatus such as a screen drum dryer is provided with a peripheral surface provided with image-forming passages, then the desired pattern can be self-evolved without additional expense.

The fibers are partially sucked by the negative pressure through the passages of the pattern, so that there is a three-dimensional colorless pattern of the own fibers on the nonwoven. However, the method according to the invention can also be carried out without a drying process, both with cold and warm or hot air, steam or a fluid.

A normal screen drum device consists of an approximately rectangular housing 1 which is divided by an intermediate wall 2 in a treatment room 3 and a fan room 4. In the treatment room 3, the screen drum and concentrically to this in the fan room 4, a fan 6 is rotatably mounted. Of course, the fan room can also be arranged in a separated from the screen drum housing 1, not shown here, separate fan housing. In any case, the fan sets the interior of the drum under induced draft.

According to FIG. 1, heating units 7 are arranged above and below the ventilator 6 and consist of tubes through which heating medium flows. The drum is covered inside the non-fleece covered area inside by an inner cover 8 against the induced draft. The effective shell of the drum is formed by a perforated plate 5. This can be wrapped at a distance outside of a film or steel strip 9, which is held taut on the end face of the drum at the two bottoms 11, 12. The patterning openings can be placed directly in the drum or - if a film is used - in the film. In this case, it is no longer a conventional screen drum, but a smooth drum with a pattern giving circumferential surface. For the clean, clearly figured patterning, the drum, film or the like should be permeable to air as a whole, such as microperforated, so that the extracted fluid can be removed over the entire surface and not just on the sample surfaces.

A screen drum of this type above generally serves for drying. At the same time or even alone, it can be useful for colorless patterning, in that the smooth peripheral surface carrying the fabric web has passages which create a three-dimensional pattern 13 on the nonwoven fabric. These can be slots 14, Crosses, holes are oval or round or other openings, which together with others give a desired image pattern 13. Images of the imaginary type are shown in FIG. 2. There is also shown in the pattern "OTTO" that the film od. Like. Not only for the pattern "OTTO" permeable, but the transport element 9 over its entire surface permeable z. B. is microperforated.

The device for patterning may be applied to a continuous line following a wet simultaneous drying or even just for patterning. Depending on this, the medium such as air, fluid or steam must be selected.
