Description

The invention relates to a crankcase for a boxer engine according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

From the DE 40 01 514 A1 is a two-part crankcase for a boxer engine known, the two halves are bolted together in the area of the integrated crankshaft bearing blocks in the crankcase. Since the bearing blocks with the bearing bores for receiving the crankshaft extend at the height of the cylinder bores, as shown in the drawing of the DE 40 01 514 A1 it can be seen that the holes for receiving the bearing screws are mounted at a corresponding distance from the circumference of the cylinder bore. This creates between the bearing bore for the crankshaft and the holes for the attachment of the two crankcase halves a corresponding distance that may result in an undesirable gapping of the storage chairs during operation of the internal combustion engine.

The JP 10-259757 A discloses a housing structure for an in-line engine, in which the screwing of the two crankcase halves obliquely, ie at an angle with respect to the center axis of the cylinder bores in the crankcase half takes place.

From the GB 851616 For example, a housing for an internal combustion engine in a series, V or boxer form has become known which has as a basic element a crankcase half with an oblique dividing plane, ie that the dividing plane is arranged at an angle with respect to the central axis of the cylinder bores. From this basic element, the various types can be easily derived: in-line engine (supplement with a cover as the second crankcase half) or V- or boxer engine (combination of two basic elements). The two crankcase halves are bolted to each other at the edge.

The invention is therefore based on the object to carry out the screw connection of the two crankcase halves so that the bearing screws can be brought close to the bearing bore for receiving the crank pin.

This object is achieved with the features of claim 1.

Characterized in that the screw connection of the two crankcase halves obliquely, that is, at an angle with respect to the center axis of the cylinder bore, the holes for the Lagerstuhlverschraubung can be brought closer to the bearing bore. In order to eliminate the transverse forces occurring in a helical gland, the dividing plane of the two crankcase halves runs at substantially the same angle below the longitudinal axis of the bearing screws to the central axis the cylinder bores is aligned. In other words, the longitudinal axis of the bearing screws extends substantially perpendicular to the parting plane of the two crankcase halves, so that advantageously no transverse forces occur in the inventive screwing.

Further advantages and advantageous developments of the invention will become apparent from the dependent claims and the description.

Beschreibung des AusführungsbeispielsDescription of the embodiment

The illustrated in the drawing crankcase for a 6-cylinder boxer engine is without limitation to this embodiment of two crankcase halves 10 and 12 with two cylinder banks 11 and 13 in which the cylinder bores 14 and 16 are arranged. Each of the two crankcase halves 10 and 12 have a plurality of bearing portions arranged behind each other 18, hereinafter referred to as bearing blocks, in each of which one half of a bearing bore 24 is formed for a crankshaft, not shown, wherein the bearing bores 24 in the assembled state each have a crank pin Record crankshaft. The screwing of the Bearing 18 takes place via two bearing screws 26, 28, with which at the same time the two crankcase halves 10 and 12 are screwed. As can be seen from FIG. 3, the dividing plane 30 of the two crankcase halves 10 and 12 extends at an angle α, which is approximately 12 ° in the present case, relative to a line 32 extending essentially perpendicular to the cylinder longitudinal axis 34.
The longitudinal axes 36 of the bearing screws 26, 28 in turn extend relative to the cylinder longitudinal axis 34 at an angle α ', which substantially corresponds to the angle α of the inclined dividing plane of the two crankcase halves 10 and 12.

Characterized in that the bearing screws 26, 28 are arranged obliquely relative to the cylinder longitudinal axis 34, the holes 37 can be brought closer to the Lagerbohrungen 24 for the Lagerstuhlverschraubung. Thus, the gas and inertial forces exerted on the crankshaft during combustion can be securely received, and gapping of the bearing blocks 18, particularly in the area adjacent to the bearing bore 24, is prevented. Due to the fact that the longitudinal axes 36 of the bearing screws 26, 28 run at right angles to the graduation plane 30 of the two crankcase halves 10 and 12, no transverse forces arise during the screwing which would otherwise have to be absorbed by additional form-fitting connections. The screw heads 38 and 40 of the opposing and mutually parallel bearing screws 26 and 28 are supported on an outer screw surface 42 and 44 of the crankcase halves 10 and 12, wherein the screw surfaces 42, 44 approximately at the level of the lower end of the cylinder bores fourteenth , 16 are arranged. The bearing screws 26, the screw heads 38 are supported on the screw 44 of the crankcase half 12 are screwed in the other crankcase half 14 in a threaded blind hole. Similarly, the bearing screws 28, the screw heads 40 are supported on the outer screw surface 42 of the crankcase half 14 in the opposite crankcase half 12 in one with a thread screwed blind hole provided. In the present embodiment, seven storage chairs 18 are provided for the 6-cylinder boxer engine.

Further components shown in the drawing represent the following:
The recesses 46, 48 belong to the crank chamber, the openings 50 are water-bearing channels, which are supplied via corresponding connections 52 with cooling water. The arranged relative to the mounting position of the boxer engine below the bearing bore 24 opening 54 serves to receive an intermediate shaft, not shown, for driving the arranged in the cylinder head camshafts. A channel 56, which leads to a bearing block 18, serves to supply the lubricating oil to the crankshaft, with bearing shells 58, likewise known from the prior art, being arranged in the individual bearing blocks 18. A outgoing from the bearing bore 24 and the cylinder bore 14 leading channel 60 is used for a spray oil cooling for the piston. As is common practice, an oil filter 62 is screwed to the crankcase, which serves to clean the lubricating oil.
