Description

GEBIET DER VORLIEGENDEN ERFINDUNGFIELD OF THE PRESENT INVENTION

The present invention relates to a proprietary closure system for laboratory tubes used in medical laboratories, e.g. for blood collection or for the treatment of biological fluids.

BESCHREIBUNG DES STANDES DER TECHNIKDESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART

For some time, so-called protected closure systems for laboratory tubes are known; these closure systems are so called because they are equipped with a cap that protects both the plug and the upper part or top of the laboratory tube, i. the part of the laboratory tube into which the plug is inserted.

Essentially, such a protected closure system contains two parts that are positively coupled with each other:
  • an elastomeric inner body (the true plug) which serves to seal the laboratory tube and is capable of being perforated to allow insertion of the needle of the syringe into the laboratory tube; and
  • a cap made of plastic material and correspondingly rigid.

Various proprietary closure systems are known in the art.

For example, mention may be made of the proprietary closure system described in European Patent EP 0 129,029; in this protected closure system, the cap on the inner surface facing the inner body has a groove into which a corresponding rib extending from the above-mentioned inner body is inserted.

Both the protected closure system described above and other known similar systems have the disadvantage that the body of the cap has lower parts, make the making of the cap by injection molding extremely complicated and difficult.

Furthermore, because ribs are mounted on the inner surface of the lid, the wall of the lid must be sufficiently thick; this contradicts the premise that the difference between the outer diameter of the plug and the outer diameter of the laboratory tube must be as small as possible, otherwise the laboratory tube in the closed state, i. with the closure system, can not be used in containers or other adapter of laboratory machines.

European Patent EP 0 419 490 has attempted to overcome such disadvantages by providing the coupling between the two parts of the proprietary closure system solely by means of two extensions extending from the cylindrical inner surface of the cap in the direction of the longitudinal axis; these extensions form a gripping zone, which has the shape of a rib and is adapted to receive an annular groove extending from the inner body, the extension, which is opposite the laboratory tube, located between the front part of the laboratory tube and the above-mentioned annular groove is located. However, this embodiment has the disadvantage that the part of the inner body which is inserted into the laboratory tube (the real plug) has a reduced length; but because the length of the plug is predetermined by the length of the needle of the syringe, the frictional force between the plug and the laboratory tube is also minimized.

US 2001/002607 offenbart ein geschütztes Verschlusssystem gemäss der Präambel des Anspruchs 1.US 2001/002607 discloses a protected locking system according to the preamble of claim 1.

The aim of the invention is to overcome the above-mentioned problems.

In particular, an object of the invention is to provide a protected closure system for laboratory tubes which consists of two separate parts, namely an inner body (plug) of elastomer and an outer body (cap) of plastic, the outer wall of this second body be as thin as possible so that the difference between the outer diameter of the second body and the diameter of the laboratory tube is as small as possible.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a protected closure system wherein the cap can be made by injection molding and wherein quite simple injection molds can be used, so that the manufacturing cost is lower than the manufacturing cost of known protected closure systems.

A still further object of the present invention is to provide a protected closure system wherein the assembly of the two parts, i. putting the cap on the inner body is quick and reliable.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a proprietary closure system in which the cap is always in contact with the outer top of the laboratory tube so that the coupling of the closure system to the laboratory tube is improved without the use of screws or screws Hook must be used.

DETAILLIERTE BESCHREIBUNG DER ERFINDUNGDETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

As shown in Fig. 1, the protected closure system indicated at 1 and used to seal the laboratory tube 2 contains an inner substantially cylindrical body 3 made of elastomer, such as rubber or the like, with a part 4 of this inner body 3 thereto is suitable for use in the laboratory tube; Furthermore, the body 3 has an upper ring 5, which expands in the radial direction and against which the upper edge 2a of the laboratory tube is inserted.

Furthermore, the closure system has a cap 6 which is substantially cylindrical and made of a compact plastic; this cap 6 serves to receive the inner body 3 and the upper part of the laboratory tube (see Fig. 1). The cap 6 has on its upper closing wall 7 a central opening 8 to allow the insertion of the withdrawal needle and has a cylindrical wall 9 which encloses the plug and the upper portion of the laboratory tube.

According to the present invention, from the cylindrical wall 9 extend in the radial direction some projections 11 which come into contact with the outer surface 12 of the laboratory tube 2 and against this outer surface 12 a pressure exercise to allow coupling of the closure system to the laboratory tube.

As shown in Fig. 1, the projections 11 extend to a distance "X" from the top wall 7 of the cap 6, this distance being greater than the height "Y" of the ring 5 of the inner body. Thus, a support stage of the ring is shown and is ensured by the fact that in the closed state, the cap is held against the upper part of the laboratory tube.

As shown in Fig. 2, the projections 11 are arranged in correspondence with openings 13 which are mounted in the upper wall 7 of the cap 6, wherein the cross section of the projections 11 is contained within the surface of this opening 13.

Schließlich, wie in Fig. 3 und in den anderen Figuren gezeigt ist, können die Vorsprünge 11 verschiedene Formen aufweisen; zum Beispiel können langförmige Vorsprünge 11 in Richtung der Längsachse des Laborröhrchens orientiert sein und einen quadratischen oder dreieckigen Querschnitt aufweisen (Fig. 3).Finally, as shown in Fig. 3 and in the other figures, the projections 11 may have different shapes; for example, elongate projections 11 may be oriented in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the laboratory tube and may have a square or triangular cross-section (Figure 3).

The projections may also consist of a plurality of elements 11.4 which are dot-shaped (Figure 7) or the projections may be angular segments 11.5 which are transverse to the longitudinal axis of the laboratory tube (Figure 6).

From the above-mentioned description, it can be seen that the objects of this invention have been achieved: the closure system according to the invention has no grooves on its cylindrical part, but only projections 11, so that the required mechanical resistance with a minimum thickness of the wall 9 can be guaranteed.

Of course, other embodiments are possible than the embodiments described above, the scope of protection being defined by the following claims.
