Definitions

  • the invention relates to a basic, non-aqueous decontamination fluid, as it finds use as a detoxifier with universal action against chemical warfare agents for the detoxification of military and civilian technical means and equipment, buildings, roads, etc.
  • Examples of such basic, non-aqueous decontamination fluids are known from US Patent 3,079,346 or German Patent DD 299 458 A7. Their basicity is due to the Alkalialkoxide contained therein (alkali metal alkoxides, Alkalialkanolate) and their anions. These are the predominantly reactive components for the conversion of military and terroristically useful toxic contaminants, such as Loste chemical compounds (such as sulfur-iselst), fluorophosphorus organyls (such as Soman) or thiocholine phosphorus organyls (e.g. B. VX).
  • Loste chemical compounds such as sulfur-iselst
  • fluorophosphorus organyls such as Soman
  • thiocholine phosphorus organyls e.g. B. VX
  • Object of the present invention is to propose a decontamination fluid of the type described above, which can be used sparingly on the one hand and painted surfaces on the other, with plastic / elastomer coated surfaces, especially of metals, plastics and elastomers in the required treatment times or not essentially attacks.
  • This object is achieved according to the invention in the basic, non-aqueous decontamination liquid described above in that it contains 0.5 to 2.6 mol / l of an alkali metal alkoxide (alkali metal alkoxide, alkali alkoxide) and / or an alkali metal aminoalkoxide (alkali metal amino alcoholate, alkali metal monoalkoxide) in a formulation
  • This formulation includes: 20 to 40 % By weight of an aliphatic C 2 -C 6 -alcohol; 20 to 40 % By weight of an aliphatic C 2 -C 6 aminoalcohol and 20 to 50 % By weight of a cyclic C 2 -C 5 acid amide and / or an aliphatic C 2 -C 6 diamine.
  • the decontamination liquid of the invention contains a chemical equilibrium system of the aliphatic alcohols and the amino alcohols, their alkali metal oxides and their ions.
  • the decontamination fluid according to the invention can be used with conventional, suitable military and civil decontamination equipment for decontamination of military technology, aircraft, ships and rail vehicles, facilities such as buildings, roads, taxiways, as well as laboratory equipment.
  • the non-aqueous decontamination fluid according to the invention is more reactive than the previously known decontamination fluids because of its strong basicity. This justifies their better effectiveness and a lower application rate per area to be decontaminated.
  • the exposure times can be shortened, so that it is possible to avoid surface damage on surfaces to be decontaminated from plastics, elastomers, paints, etc. Corrosion phenomena on metals and metal alloys do not occur even with prolonged exposure time.
  • the decontamination fluid known from US Pat. No. 3,079,346 has a highly hygroscopic effect, so that fog phenomena are possible even at low air humidity. This is reliably avoided with the decontamination liquid according to the invention.
  • the decontamination fluid of the invention can be rinsed with water from the treated surfaces, the water does not necessarily have to be applied with high pressure. Due to the smaller quantities that have to be applied per unit area of decontamination fluid, the water consumption during rinsing is a lesser.
  • the decontamination fluid known from DD 299 458 A7 is less basic than the decontamination fluid according to the invention and moreover contains N-methyl- ⁇ -caprolactam, which is less economical.
  • Preferred decontamination liquids according to the invention comprise at least one alkali metal alkoxide and one alkali metal aminoalkoxide, which are introduced by introduction (Addition) of the corresponding pure alkali metal or an alkali hydroxide are formed. But they can also be introduced by commercially available alkali metal alkoxides.
  • More preferred decontamination liquids contain as aliphatic alcohol propanols and / or butanols.
  • the amino alcohol component used is preferably 2-amino-1-butanol, N, N-dimethylaminoethanol and / or N-methyl-diisopropanolamine.
  • Preferred acid amides in the formulation of the basic, non-aqueous decontamination fluid according to the invention is N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone.
  • one or more co-solvents can be added to the decontamination fluid, such as up to 10% by weight of diols and / or up to 20% by weight of a liquid aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon.
  • the invention relates to a method for decontaminating surfaces, in particular painted, polymer-coated or plastic or elastomer surfaces, the method being characterized by the use of the above-described decontamination liquid according to the invention.
  • the decontamination liquid when using the decontamination liquid, as described above, amounts of from 0.05 to 0.2 l / m 2 surface are applied according to the type of contaminant and the estimated contamination density. Even with chemically relatively stable, highly toxic warfare agents, such low levels provide excellent decontamination results at contamination densities of 10 g per m 2 , even when the warfare agents are in thickened form and their exposure time is several hours.
  • the average contamination density was still 10840 mg / m 2 for the warfare agent Schwefelellost (HD) on the alkyd resin-coated metal plates.
  • the plates were sprayed with 0.1 l / m 2 of the decontamination liquid according to the invention after Formulation A. After 5 minutes exposure, the plates were warmed with warm water After treatment with water (about 80 ° C), the decontamination fluid is rinsed off.
  • Example 1 plates were contaminated with the chemical warfare agent VX. After the exposure time, the contamination density was 8030 mg VX / m 2 .
  • the treatment was also carried out with 0.1 l / m 2 of formulation A. After the exposure time of 5 minutes and the post-treatment with water (about 80 ° C), an average residual contamination of 3.6 mg VX / m 2 was found. This corresponds to a decontamination success of 99.96%.
  • Example 1 plates were contaminated with the chemical warfare agent Soman (GD). After the exposure time, the average contamination density was 4160 mg GD / m 2 .
  • GD chemical warfare agent Soman
  • the treatment was also carried out with 0.1 l / m 2 with the formulation A. After the exposure time of 5 minutes and the aftertreatment with water (about 80 ° C), the residual contamination averaged 98.8 mg GD / m 2 . This corresponds to a decontamination success of 97.53%.
  • Examples 1 to 3 were carried out here analogously with the decontamination fluid of formulation B.
  • the decontamination effect of these 3 chemical warfare agents was essentially the same as for Formulation A.
  • Examples 1 to 3 were carried out here analogously with the decontamination liquid of Formulation C. Overall, the decontamination effect was somewhat lower, averaging 98.3%, with the decontamination efficiency of the sulfur lello averaging 99.4% and the VX 99.8%, respectively.
