Abwickeln eines Markisentuchs (3), wobei das innere Ende des Markisentuchs (3) mit der Tuchwelle (2) und das äußere Ende des Markisentuchs (3) mit einem Ausfallprofil (9) verbunden sind und das Ausfallprofil (9) in seitlichen Führungsschienen (10) gelagert ist, wobei an dem Ausfallprofil (9) an dem dem Markisentuch (3) gegenüberliegenden Ende elastische Zugbänder (15) angreifen, die um eine im Endbereich der Führungsschiene (10) gelagerte Umlenkrolle (16, 17) umgelenkt und zur Tuchwelle (2) zurückgeführt sind und an der Tuchwelle (2) aufgewickelt werden, wenn das Markisentuch (3) ausgefahren und abgewickelt wird, und dementsprechend auf das Ausfahrprofil (9) und damit das Markisentuch (3) Zug ausüben, wobei das Abwickeln des Markisentuchs (3) bzw. das Aufwickeln der Zugbänder (15) über einen elektromotorischen Antrieb (19) der Tuchwelle (2) erfolgt und Schalteinrichtungen vorgesehen sind zum Abschalten des Tuchwellen-Antriebs (19) nach Erreichen des voll ausgefahrenen Zustandes, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Schalteinrichtungen (Drehmomentgeber 20) derart auf den Antrieb (19) der Tuchwelle (2) einwirken, dass sie den Antrieb (19) erst dann abschalten, wenn der maximale Ausfahrzustand überschritten ist und das Markisentuch (3) in der ursprünglichen Abwickelrichtung (Pfeil 21) um einen definierten Winkelbereich wieder aufgewickelt wird.
