Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a universal device for providing passages in tiled roofs and in coverings made of shaped panels in general.
- It is known that very often it is necessary to provide, in roofs and in coverings in general of buildings, passages or outlets that interrupt the continuity of the roof side and local watertightness.
- These outlets are for example due to the passage of chimney caps of boilers, air exhausts, manholes, lighting systems, antennas for collecting electromagnetic waves, and so forth.
- It is known that a conventional tiled roof is constituted by a set of tiles of small dimensions, made of clay-like material or cement with greatly variable shapes and dimensions. The tiles are shaped so as to provide overlaps and interlocking couplings both along their width and along their length, so as to produce a correct downflow of rainwater, obviously avoiding internal infiltrations.
- If the outlet to be provided in the roof or covering has dimensions compatible with those of the tile, it is sufficient to replace a normal tile with a so-called custom tile, which is identical in terms of profile, dimensions and shape and is already preset with a through hole which is delimited for example by a raised collar, so as to provide perfect watertightness, maintaining the advantage of overlapping and of interlocking couplings.
- The element that must pass through the roof passes through the hole of the tile, and an adapter element is then provided to close the collar at the passage, ensuring a perfect seal.
- This solution is feasible if the opening is compatible with the dimensions of a single tile, but is not possible if the passage to be provided is larger than the tiles, to the point of affecting a plurality of adjacent tiles.
- In such cases, it is necessary to provide the adaptations required to blend the element to be inserted in the covering with the surrounding elements. In particular, it is necessary to collect water arriving from upstream and laterally and convey it downstream, flowing around the element that is inserted in the roof side according to its shape, dimensions and functionality.
- Performing this adaptation requires the intervention of specialized personnel, which generally, by using metallic laminated elements that are very plastic, easy to weld and tuck, forms aprons or barge covers that are modeled so as to provide functional blendings.
- In some cases it is also possible to proceed with bituminous sheaths, which are shaped, blended and welded, with the aid of a flame, in order to obtain the most suitable solution.
- The great variability of the types of tiles and panels that are used forces manufacturers of products that must pass through the roof to take on the burden of providing the solution that is most appropriate for their product, which must pass through the roof, by taking on the burden of developing all the special components for the various product types.
- The aim of the present invention is to solve the above-mentioned problem, by providing a universal device for providing passages in tiled roofs and in coverings formed by shaped panels in general, which can adapt to any type of roof and also allows to provide passages whose dimensions are larger than a single tile.
- Within this aim, a particular object of the invention is to provide a universal device that can be applied particularly simply without therefore having to resort to the work of specialized personnel providing blending aprons or barge covers, since such device already has preset blending elements that provide the correct seal.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a universal device that thanks to its particular constructive characteristics is capable of giving the greatest assurances of reliability and safety in use.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a universal device that can be easily obtained starting from commonly commercially available elements and materials and is furthermore competitive from a merely economical point of view.
- This aim and these and other objects that will become better apparent hereinafter are achieved by a universal device for providing passages in tiled roofs and in coverings made of shaped panels in general, according to the invention, characterized in that it comprises a supporting plate-like element that can rest on the supporting structures of a roof and the like and has a turret which forms a through opening, a flexible plate-like element being superimposed on said supporting plate-like element, said flexible plate-like element being impermeable to water, coupled hermetically to said turret, and arrangeable below the overlying tiles and the like and above the underlying tiles and the like.
- Further characteristics and advantages will become better apparent from the description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of a universal device for providing passages in tiled roofs and in coverings made of shaped panels in general, illustrated only by way of non-limitative example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
- Figure 1 is a schematic exploded view of the device before it is applied to a roof;
- Figure 2 is a view of the device rested on the roof;
- Figure 3 is a view of the device once installed;
- Figure 4 is a partially sectional view of the device;
- Figure 5 is a plan view of the device with a movable turret;
- Figure 6 is a sectional view, taken along the line VI-VI of Figure 5;
- Figure 7 is a sectional view of the device installed on a roof, taken along the line VII-VII of Figure 5.
-
- With reference to the figures, the universal device for providing passages in tiled roofs and in coverings made of shaped panels in general, according to the invention, generally designated by the
reference numeral 1, comprises a supporting plate-like element 2, which is advantageously made of metallic material or plastic materials and is structured so that it can rest on the supporting structures of a roof, generally designated by thereference numeral 3, optionally with the addition of appropriately providedcrossmembers 4. - A
turret 5 protrudes from the plate-like element 2 and forms internally a throughopening 6, which forms the passage to be provided on the roof. - Obviously, the dimensions of the opening may be any according to contingent requirements.
- The particularity of the invention is constituted by the fact that there is a flexible plate-like element, designated by the
reference numeral 10, which can be coupled hermetically to theturret 5, optionally by overlapping a fixing ring orcollar 11, on which aclosure cap 20 can be applied if required. - The flexible plate-like element also has the particularity that it is extendible, so as to be able to adhere easily to all points of the surface of the roof and facilitate hermetic connection to the turret.
- In order to obtain optimum extendibility, the plate-
like element 10 is formed by microcorrugated sheathing, i.e., it has a plurality of laterally adjacent undulations which run in the direction of the pitch and allow to easily extend the sheathing over the roof. - The sheathing that constitutes the flexible plate-like element is obtained with materials that are flexible, impermeable, unalterable, and have been rendered extensible by means of a hot or cold semipermanent microcorrugation process, with simultaneous or separate plastic deformation and heating.
- The flexibility and extendibility of the article in the direction that lies transversely to the microcorrugation allows to use the plate-like element with an apron or barge cover by inserting it under the overlying tiles and placing it over the underlying or downstream tiles. This perfect overlap is allowed by the possibility to stretch the undulations of the corrugation, increasing its extension to adapt it to the profile of the tiles.
- In order to facilitate the downflow of the water conveyed into the small channels obtained between the crests of the microcorrugations, the profile cusps of the
tiles 15 arranged downstream are preferably rounded in order to produce a more gradual level transition. - The sheathing, by overlapping and extending over the tiles, and optionally adhering to them by means of appropriate adhesives, covers the tiles hermetically, preventing the inflow of water.
- Figures 6 to 8 illustrate a solution which allows to position the turret independently of the pitch of the roof. In particular, there is a plate-
like element 30 that has acontoured opening 31 delimited by mutuallyopposite rims 32, between which it is possible to support amovable turret 33, which can oscillate by means ofdiametrical pivots 34 that engage therims 32, in order to form means for varying the mutual inclination between theturret 33 and the plate-like element 30. - With the described arrangement, once the position of the
movable turret 33 has been achieved, said turret can be locked in position, for example, by means ofnuts 35 that engage thepivots 34. - It is also optionally possible to provide, under the flexible plate-like element, again designated by the
reference numeral 10, anadditional seal 36, which acts between themovable turret 33 and the plate-like element 30. - From the above description it is thus evident that the invention achieves the intended aim and objects; in particular, the fact is stressed that a universal device is provided which, with a single component, can be applied to any type of roof formed by tiles or flat, corrugated or ribbed panels, obtaining passages or outlets for the roof, thus allowing to provide fixed skylights, and zenithal light guides and passive light ducts and to have any service passage that might be useful.
- An important advantage of the invention is that it reduces intervention times at the building side, providing a unified product and avoiding the provision of articles made to size for the specific situation, to the full advantage of constancy of quality and performance.
- The invention thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the inventive concept; all the details may further be replaced with other technically equivalent elements.
- In practice, the materials used, as well as the contingent shapes and dimensions, may be any according to requirements.
- The disclosures in Italian Patent Application No. MI2001A001673, from which this application claims priority, are incorporated herein by reference.
- Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the scope of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
