Abstract

A nitrocellulose-free gas-generating composition for use in vehicle passenger safety systems (especially seat belt tensioners) has a pressure exponent below 0.35 and a combustion rate at 200 bar of ≥ 40mm/second and comprises by wt. (A) a nitrogen-containing organic fuel (55-70%); (B) an inorganic oxidizer (30-45%); (C) a combustion moderator (up to10%); and (D) conventional additives (up to 5%).
