Description

Bohrer, insbesondere Forstnerbohrer oder Kunstbohrer Drills, especially Forstner drills or artificial drills
The invention relates to a drill, in particular Forstner drill or artificial drill, with a drill shank and a cutting head which has a central mandrel from which a first and a second end cutting edge extend radially outward in the opposite direction of attack, with the circumferential ends of the first and the second end cutting edge is adjoined in each case by a hollow cylinder segment-like wall which delimits the circumference of the cutting head and has a peripheral cutting edge which, at its end remote from the front cutting edge, delimits a chip space which opens to the other end cutting edge and penetrates the drilling head.
Drill bits of this type are mass-produced products that are intended for use in hand, column, dowel or row drilling machines and are produced and sold in large quantities. It can be used to drill holes with a relatively large diameter in a wide variety of materials, from plastic-coated chipboard, glued wood panels to acrylic panels and other base materials. The disadvantage of previously known drills lies in the relatively high drilling forces or torques that have to be applied by the drilling machines, since the end cutting edges and the peripheral cutting edges with their straight edges have to overcome a high material resistance.
The peripheral edges of such known drills tend to overheat due to the high load during the drilling process, which is evident from a blue tarnish. This can result in permanent damage to the drill. To avoid this overheating effect, circumferential cutting edges with a tooth-like design have been used. However, these cause the drill to be guided improperly and the borehole is torn out.
The object of the invention is to provide a drill of the type mentioned, with the help of which the efficiency of the energy used for a bore to be drilled can be increased or with which bores can be carried out using low drilling forces, the material load on the drill being kept relatively low becomes.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that the two peripheral cutting edges have, at least partially along their course, undulating depressions and elevations.
Due to the wave-shaped circumferential cutting edges, which act as drawn pre-cutters, the constant friction occurring in known circumferential cutting edges within the drilling material is reduced to a more or less punctiform friction, thereby avoiding permanent rubbing. In this way, a lower torque of the drilling machine is required to drill a hole, which is why the drill penetrates much easier, for example, into the wood. In a further embodiment of the invention it can be provided that the wave-shaped depressions and elevations are formed by serrated edges.
The formation of a serrated edge on the circumferential cutting edge ensures a very clean cut of the drill and prevents the hole from being torn out.
The invention further relates to a method for producing a drill, in particular a Forstner drill or an artificial drill.
The object of the invention is to enable automated machining of the peripheral cutting edges of a drill in a technically simple and precise manner.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that undulating depressions and elevations are hard-milled in the peripheral cutting edges of the hardened drill head along their course.
After the drill blank has hardened, the drill shaft is ground and then the elevations and depressions are hard-milled with a hard milling cutter, in particular with the formation of a serrated edge. In this way, a very precise design of the peripheral cutting edges can be achieved.
Es zeigt dabeiThe invention is explained in detail below with reference to the exemplary embodiment illustrated in the accompanying drawings. It shows
Fig.l eine Stirnansicht einer Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Bohrers;Fig.l is an end view of an embodiment of the drill according to the invention;
Fig.2 eine Seitenansicht des Bohrers gemäß Fig.l;2 shows a side view of the drill according to Fig.l;
Fig.3 eine gegenüber der Darstellung in Fig.2 um 90° gedrehte Ansicht und3 shows a view rotated by 90 ° with respect to the illustration in FIG
Figure 4 shows a detail of the view shown in Figure 3.
Fig.l and Fig.2 show a Forstner bit, which is composed essentially of a drill shaft 2, which is used for clamping in a drill chuck, and a cutting head 4. The cutting head 4 has a protruding central dome 1, from which a first and a second end cutting edge 100, 100 'extend radially outward in the opposite direction of attack. In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1, the central mandrel is pointed in a pyramid-like manner, as a result of which the drill can be placed precisely on a marking for a borehole. The mandrel 1 penetrates so far into the material to be drilled that the drill is prevented from slipping when the drilling machine is started up.
At the circumferential ends of the first and the second end cutting edges 100, 100 ', a hollow cylinder segment-like wall 10, which delimits the circumference of the cutting head 4, adjoins a peripheral cutting edge 8, one at the end of which is removed from the end cutting edge Front cutting edge opening, the chip head penetrating chip space 7 limited. A surface 12 that slopes down toward the adjacent wall 10 runs from the end cutting edges 100, 100 ′. In order to avoid overheating of the circumferential cutting edges 8, it is provided that the two circumferential cutting edges 8 have undulating depressions 13 and elevations 14 along their course. These can also run only along partial areas of the peripheral cutting edges 8.
The wave-shaped depressions 13 and elevations 14 are preferably formed by serrated edges.
The invention can be applied to a Forstner bit, an artificial bit or a similar wood bit.
